About

Jay & Silent Bob on Tour

Since first appearing as Jay and Silent Bob in the indie comedy hit Clerks in 1994, Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith have commanded the loyalty of countless fellow slackers and misfits thanks to their outrageously foul-mouthed humor and inimitable chemistry.

Those fans may be as surprised as anyone by the duo's longevity. Smith first conceived of the characters as minor figures in Clerks, which the filmmaker based on his experiences working in a convenience store in New Jersey. He let Jay — closely based on Mewes, a friend of Smith's from high school — do most of the talking on screen. The characters proved so popular, Mewes and Smith brought them back for several more of Smith's films before they got a movie of their own in 2001's Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.

In the fall of 2019, the twosome returned to the big screen in The Jay & Silent Bob Reboot, another comedy that features many other stars who Smith helped launch, including Ben Affleck. But it's Mewes and Smith who fans will most want to see when they come to cities across the U.S. for a special roadshow tour that combines screenings with live performances.

Jay & Silent Bob Background

One of the funniest (and foulest) comedy duos to ever hit the screen, Jay & Silent Bob have been slaying moviegoers, live audiences and comic-book readers since viewers first spotted them hanging outside a convenience store in Kevin Smith's 1994 comedy Clerks.

The partnership began when Smith wrote the character of Jay based on Jason Mewes, a high school friend with a real-life talent for outrageous quips and put-downs. Smith cast himself as Jay's taciturn sidekick Silent Bob. The characters were such a hit that they'd not only appear in many of Smith's later movies but star in their own comic book, an animated TV show and Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back, a 2001 cult hit that put the duo front and center on the big screen.

In 2019, Mewes and Smith re-teamed for The Jay & Silent Bob Reboot, a comedy that follows the continuing misadventures of their big-screen alter egos.

Well worth the cost of admission

by Jeff on 2/23/20Carolina Theatre - Durham

I’ve seen Kevin on 3 occasions at the Carolina, and once at ECU, and he’s never disappointed. I will say that it seemed like we got less time than usual for the Q and A, but I still had a great time. The movie was a lot of fun as well.

The movie was hilarious. Q&A was funny as hell. Meeting Kevin afterwards was awesome! Kevin is by far my favorite director, writer, actor and human being.

by Clear on 2/22/20The Charleston Music Hall - Charleston

If you would have told me that I would be watching a movie with Kevin Smith I would have told you you're hitting the hard stuff. Loved the atmosphere. Loved the movie. Kevin Smith is just a joy to see live. His enthusiasm and happiness made this show can't miss.

Kevin Smith shares love and joy with his fans!

    by Logan_83 on 2/19/20Carolina Theatre - Durham

Kevin Smith welcomed me into his embrace (literally) as if I were a beloved family member that he was always elated to see, even if he only got the chance once every several years at a family reunion. His warmth and kindness during the photo-op session was second to none. I was happy to have the chance to tell him how much I enjoyed all of his work over the years and we chatted as we'd known each other our whole lives. This is the personal experience that Kevin Smith offers during his Road Show Tour. Both the introduction and Q&A by Kevin was funny and although this was his 85th+ show in over 55+ cities, he was as lively and energetic as anyone I have ever seen. He was truly happy to share the night with his fans. The movie itself was great as well. It was a night I will never forget. He mentioned that he wanted to do a Road Show Tour for Clerks 3 and if he does, I will be waiting anxiously to get a premier ticket.

    Amazing!

by Aaryn on 2/19/20Carolina Theatre - Durham

Over all the movie was amazing. I laughed, cried and there were so many lines in the movie that hit home. The Q&a was also incredible. Kevin Smith gave so much insight to the entertainment industry and gave some great advice about writing and creativity. I highly recommend the show and I really hope I get the chance to do it again.

by Tyler on 2/15/20State Theatre - Portland

Kevin Smith was a great host and watching the Jay & Silent Bob Reboot with an audience full of fans was a great experience. The Q+A Session almost lasted longer than the movie, but it informative and added to an already fun night.

    Rebooted Right

    by J. S. on 2/9/20State Theatre - Portland

I really enjoyed the movie and hearing Kevin Smith speak. I think having him tour the movie is a fantastic idea. I do wish more questions could have been asked during Q&A, but it was a great event.

    Kevin smith

by Eric on 2/7/20Théâtre Corona - Montreal

Not well organized the fault would be evenko once again making the vip get ther for 6:30 for an 8:00 show just so we can waist more money on booze and still had to wait 30 min before we went in the doors. The signed scripts we bought would be sent out to our home ok fine, but it’s been 3 days where are our photos from the show will that be sent out also!!! Kevin smith was great an awesome person so no blame on him.

    Kevin Smith

by Ryan on 2/4/20Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Toronto

Kevin Smith is one of my inspirations so to see his latest film in the same audience as him and to have the Q&A afterwards was absolutely amazing! He puts real care into his films and takes the time to share them/himself with the fans. That night made me love him even more than I already did

    My Reboot Roadshow Experience

by Shawn Nicholson on 2/4/20Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Toronto

The theater was very well organized. They let the VIP ticket holders in first to get their badges, everyone was lined up accordingly. Once the show started, the audio was the only thing that I had an issue with as it was a bit muffled at some points but the picture quality was great. 4 out of 5!

    KevINCREDIBLE Smith

by SonGoku2002 on 2/4/20Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Toronto

"Ayyyyyy!" When Kevin came out and said that I knew this was gonna be one heck of an experience, and it was! The movie itself was amazing (it's a view askew movie so please don't critique it as you would with a regular one), but what really grasped my attention was the man, the myth, the legend himself. Mr. Smith had the stage till 1:55 am, and he maintained constant energy and spent time answering every question with passion. My only regret would have to be that I couldn't get to ask my question since it was too late and he had to leave, but it doesn't matter since it was extremely late. Overall, the money was well spent and the rewards, both in the movie and the interaction, were worth it.

    Great show A+

by Chris on 2/4/20Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Toronto

Was a great pre and post movie show. Movie was also great. Only objection was the tickets did not state when doors opened. Was a chilly snowy evening so would have been nice to know. But that had nothing to do with the show itself. Would do it again in a heart beat
