Jason Mraz left his Virginia hometown right after high school and struck out for New York City to find his fame and fortune. Honing his skills by busking on the streets in the Big Apple, Jason decided that perhaps this line of work could be performed in a nicer climate. Next stop: San Diego, and soon Jason moved from the outdoor beachside stages to inside a local hot spot called Java Joe's. It was there he met percussionist/vocalist Toca Rivera and the two made a name for themselves all along the California coast. He released his own CD, Jason Mraz: Live and Acoustic 2001, which got the attention of all the major record labels.
His first release on Elektra, Waiting For My Rocket To Come, was released in November 2002. The album sold platinum and included the hit single "The Remedy (I Won't Wait)". That success led to Jason's second release, this time on sister label Atlantic, the Grammy-nominated Mr. A-Z, which debuted at #5 on the charts, and featured the hit single "Wordplay".
For his all-important third album, Jason traveled to England to work with producer Martin Terefe, best known for his work with Coldplay and James Morrison (who guests on the intricate Details in the Fabric). The result is We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things. which garnered three Grammy nominations - Song of the Year and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance, both for "I'm Yours", and Best Engineered Album. "I'm Yours", the first single from the album, holds the distinction of being the only song to ever top the radio airplay charts in the U.S. in all four major formats - Top 40, Adult Alternative, Adult Contemporary and Hot Adult Contemporary. The second single from the album is "Lucky", a duet with platinum singer-songwriter Colbie Caillat.
In his spare time, Jason is an avid photographer in the unlikely realm of Polaroids. A book of 50 of his unretouched and non-photoshopped photos entitled "a thousand things" was released in October 2008 and has spread the word about this multi-talented artist to the world of galleries and bookstores. Jason is the consummate musical and visual artist of the new century.
Great voice, choreography, band, and venue sight and sound
This is not my first time attending a Jason Mraz concert. He is alway entertaining, love his tunes, and I especially loved the respectful, cheerful crowd around me. Although I really appreciated two bathroom locations, I was not expecting the chair shortage 30 minutes before the concert! One order of nachos, one beer and one vodka lemonade for $63+ dollars? All in all, I had a great concert experience, bought a nice t-shirt and had a blast with family. Next time I will bring my own seating to prevent damp pants and tote my own snacks to save on the extreme prices! $20 for a can of spirited lemonade... Wow.
Loved the whole band. Very intertaining and great music. Enjoyable evening for sure except for few rude young kids standing and security took them up front where they could stand for it all
This was such a fun show! High energy and really great music made for a night full of dancing and fun with friends. I can’t wait until the next time he’s back for another great concert!
A wonderful, memorable, magical and uplifting experience... raising the audience's vibrations.
First time at White River Parkway Amphitheater, it was beautiful. Jason Mraz was incredibly up-beat and far more energetic than expected. Absolutely loved everything about the night except the price of a cocktail! :)
First Monica Martin opened. While she has a good voice, her performance was chaotic and underwhelming. She was clearly winging it. Jason Mraz was fantastic. He is a skilled and practiced performer. Thoroughly enjoyed his art and positive outlook on life.
Jason does a great job of creating a party-like atmosphere at the concert. Raining Jane compliments his style and musical senses. We got more excited with each song. The TCU amphitheatre was a great venue and added to the experience. Opening act of Monica Martin had a nice sound and was a bonus positive for the experience.
however your day was - after a Jason Mraz concert you will have a smile on your face
Jason Myraz was one of the best concerts we have been to. He is so positive, uplifting and high energy. And an extra treat with Colby Caillat making an appearance. The Venue was equally as incredible. A beautiful space. My ONLY negative with the venue is that I wish the viewing screens were a little larger. But a totally enjoyable evening.
The opening guest was quirky (and not in the good way!). It would have been better if Colbie Callie opened for him. It was the worst concert that I’ve been to-song selection, entertainment value, etc.
The new music is great - still love the older songs also. It was a fun evening out with my BFF.
Jason is pure joy, authenticity, talent, peace and love…loved every minute! Thank you Jason!
Incredible positive vibes and loved all the lyrics and songs. Loved it!!
One of the best shows I have ever seen, the energy, music and performance were all 5 stars!!! The First Bank Amphitheatre is a amazing venue!
Had a great time at the concert. Beautiful venue with a cool breeze. Mraz delivered a great show. My wife absolutely loved it. Lots of sing a longs and dancing in the aisles. Can’t wait to see him again.
First time seeing Jason Mraz and what an upbeat concert!! Great songs and entertainment!! Gotta love a concert where the performer talks to the audience!! The venue was perfect !!!
Jason Mraz puts on such a fun and upbeat show. I adore his music! The show included a delightful surprise duet with the wonderful Colbie Caillat. FirstBank Amphitheater has to be one of my all time favorite venues.
Just a very cool vibe! Loved the full band’s involvement in the show. Just everything and the venue a 10
We were given tickets for Jason Mraz in section 305. **Positives:** The venue is beautiful. Jason Mraz and his ensemble provided a great performance. Great to hear the duet with Colbie Caillat. I am looking forward to hearing them again. The staff were very friendly and greeted us warmly. The restrooms were kept very clean. **Negatives:** We left early, after 13 songs. Even with glasses, the screens were too small to view the performers. Jason Mraz's face was a blur on my iPhone. It was a hot day, and the only water dispenser at the venue did not work so there was a considerable line if you wanted to wait. The cans of Death Water with minimum tip were $7.08. Double that if you want a can of something harder. Parking was still a hassle with insufficient signage. For example, the sign saying "Main Gate -->"is not the direction you want to go. Keep going straight. The warm-up artist from Wisconsin had a beautiful voice, but seemed almost too high to perform - maybe she was nervous. IDK. **Takeaways:** Am returning in late September and will be sitting much closer in section 103. Plan to spend at least $60 on beverages per person. Will avoid this venue during the summer months.
