About

JASON ISBELL IN CONCERT:

Alt-country singer/songwriter Jason Isbell is a master of writing songs that maximize the emotional impact of his heartrending voice. From his time with the Drive-By Truckers to his solo material with his band the 400 unit, Isbell has proven himself a consummate storyteller, building a loyal fanbase with his stripped-down, emotionally relatable songs. Riding high on the success of fourth album Southeastern, Isbell will support Ray LaMontagne on tour in 2014, rounding out his time on the road with select headline appearances of his own.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born and raised in Northern Alabama, Isbell grew up playing music, encouraged by his musical family to take up multiple instruments. After a brief stint as a songwriter, he joined southern rockers the Drive-By Truckers for their 2001 tour in support of their album Southern Rock Opera, staying on with the band as a guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter until leaving to pursue a solo career in 2007. His debut album Sirens of the Ditch was well-received by critics, providing him enough momentum to put together a full band for 2009 sophomore outing Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit. With his fourth studio album Southeastern topping critics’ lists in late 2013, Isbell once again hit the road for a string of highly anticipated 2014 tour dates.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Jason Isbell is awesome! He knows how to write a song and how to interact and entertain an audience. His band is great and they genuinely seem to enjoy what they do."

" Jason is an entertainer that writes from his soul and you can feel it in his performances. I would recommend anyone seeing him and his band."

" Jason Isbell and his band put on a phenomenal show, as they always do. The crowd was excited and engaged."

St. Paul is a must see band

by RingRingTelephonering on 12/9/13Buckhead Theatre - Atlanta

I have seen Jason Isbell a few times and he put on a solid performance especially after a long flight in from Europe the day before. The band I really wanted to see was the opener, St. Paul & the Broken Bones. These guys put on a great high energy show. Wonderful new southern soul sounds. Just a fun group due to be the next big deal out of Alabama. Sure wish I was going on Cayamo this year to see them on the ship.

    Jason Isbell was awesome!

by pwolflake on 10/24/13Duling Hall - Jackson

Great concert, thanks to Arden Barnett! He is booking some great shows for Jackson, MS. Duling Hall is a great venue as well...... Jason Isbell and the 400 unit is a very talented group of musicians, to say the least......and if you love great music, don't miss this show if, it comes to your area! The only drawback is a few of younger punks of Jackson, who needs to show a little more respect for fellow concertgoers....butting in front of someone and then carrying on a conversation is socially unacceptable. Also getting hammered and falling over people and singing to the top of your lungs makes you an idiot, and those of us who pay our hard earned money (not Mamma and Daddy's) to listen to the band WILL have you thrown out. You are an embarrassment to the entire state. Just sayin'

    Jason Isbell is awesome!

    by CamK7 on 9/3/13Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

Jason Isbell was absolutely amazing! He played just about every song, both old and new, that I wanted to hear; the whole Unit sounded great... played for 2 and a half hours! The Ryman was the perfect venue for the sound, audience, and atmosphere. If there's a repeat, I'll be there!

One of the best concerts I have ever seen. Small intimate setting, but felt like an arena show.

He deserves to be a big time star. His ability to sing is exceptional and to be charming and humble with the audience was so refreshing! I would love to see him play again and again!!!!

Best show I've ever been to!

by PirateSmile on 8/20/13Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

This was Jason Isbell's first time headlining at the Ryman and you could feel the excitement in the air. You could tell that almost everyone in the audience was a long-time fan of Jason and we all knew how special of a night it was for him. I had my eyes closed for most of the show, which is always a good indication that I am lost in the music.

Isbell and the 400 Unit were fantastic

by WLBJr on 8/20/13Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

I have seen these guys at least half a dozen times and have followed Jason since his days with DBT. While Jason is consistently excellent, this show was the best I have seen by orders of magnitude. The Ryman is a special place, and it was obvious that Jason and the band were excited to be on stage. They certainly rose to the occasion and produced a wonderful show that I won't forget.

    Jason Isbell

    by SoundFan11 on 8/20/13Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

The performance by Jason and the band was great. The band is tight. Vocals where great but the sound engineer pushed the vocals to loud for the music on Jason as well as the warm up band. The concert was performed well by the Jason and the band. The crowd was into the music and had a great connection with Jason and the band. Would see them again but would prefer a different sound engineer.

Jason Isbell and the 400 unit was incredible

by randypa on 8/20/13Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

Show was just outstanding. Jason played a mixture of his old music with his new release"southeastern" and did it flawlessly. My wife and a group of 10 friends all met in Nashville for this show and all of us agreed it was the best we had ever heard Jason play and sing. the rest of the band were equally as good.

    Jason Isbell melted my face

by NashvilleBongo on 8/20/13Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

Best show I've ever seen, anywhere. Isbell singing at the Mother Church was like seeing Ted Williams hit at Fenway Park. I laughed. I cried. I made noises that sounded like Yoko Ono giving birth.

    Legend in the making

by AlWag on 8/20/13Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

This was hands down the best concert I have ever been to. Jason is a songwriter's songwriter. His voice cuts through you and the music envelopes you. Heart wrenching and a good time is hard to pull off. This event at the Mother Church of Country Music was a special moment shared by everyone there. Go see him!!!! Now
