JANE’S ADDICTION IN CONCERT:

Alternative rock pioneers Jane’s Addiction have awed fans with superior musicianship and over-the-top showmanship for more than three decades, and they’re still going strong. The band's potent blend of alt-rock, metal, and punk is pure sonic boom and their live shows are equally explosive, flooring fans with full-throttle funk metal shredding and far-out visual spectacles. Flamboyant frontman and Lollapalooza founder Perry Ferrell commands the stage with cocksure rock star swagger, pumping up the crowd with wild-eyed intensity until they reach a blissed-out state of rock nirvana. Superstar guitarist Dave Navarro is equally magnetic, shaking fans to the core with his high-octane riffage on scorching favorites like “Stop”, “Been Caught Stealing”, and “Mountain Song”. Jane's Addiction are alt-rock legends for a reason, and their fun and freaky live performances are a can't-miss experience for any alt-rock fan worth their salt.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Singer Perry Ferrell formed Jane’s Addiction with original bassist Eric Avery in 1985, eventually teaming up with guitarist Dave Navarro and drummer Stephen Perkins. The group exploded on LA’s underground rock scene, attracting the attention of Warner Bros. Records, who commissioned the group’s 1987 self-titled debut. The following year they released their sophomore album Nothing’s Shocking, which they supported as an opening act on tour with Iggy Pop and The Ramones. With the 1990 release of Ritual de lo Habitual the band became a household name, as singles “Stop” and “Been Caught Stealing” raced up the alternative charts. Despite their breakthrough success, the group imploded in the early '90s over heavy drug use, as half the band tried to get clean while the other half partied on. After the break up Ferrell found success in the mid-'90s with his new band Porno for Pyros while Navarro became one of the most in-demand guitarists of the decade, playing with everyone from Red Hot Chili Peppers and Nine Inch Nails to Janet Jackson and Alanis Morissette. Things remained icy between the two until they buried the hatchet in the early '00s, thrilling fans with a string of Jane's Addiction shows and the 2003 album Strays. The band has been back full-time since 2008, continuing to rock legions of fans with their pioneering funk metal sound and live-wire performances.

    Happy Perry

by Ruby Sugar on 3/12/23Hollywood Palladium - Hollywood

Perry was in his element at the Palladium. He has always had such an amazing stage presence. He continues to have it and the snake gear was on point to true Perry form. His smile after he would finish a song told the story of how happy he was in front of his “west coast” peeps. Josh was an amazing fill in too! Uber talented. Having front row helped too. Keep entertaining us Jane’s. Forever fans.

    Blast from the past

    by S on 3/12/23Hollywood Palladium - Hollywood

Great show, the burlesque dancers doing acrobatics was awesome and the music sounded amazing. Sightlines were not the worst I’ve had at the venue and the sound was good. Easy entry and exit with all exits opened in the music hall after the band finished. Parked down the street for free and showed up right before the band went on and was able to get a decent spot.

Epic. Setlist speaks for itself. If Dave was there it would have been even better.

Sone things never change, but others do

by Marcelo Palazzo on 3/12/23Hollywood Palladium - Hollywood

I first saw Jane’s Addiction back in the 80’s and I’ve seen then several times through the years. Maybe it’s because I’m older, but the other night was monotonous and kind of sad. Seeing people in their 50’s get too drunk, seeing the band roll through the sake song list for over 30 years. Hearing Perry sound obsessive about not being skinny anymore. It was all pretty ponderous. Also The Palladium has always been a challenging venue because unless you’re on of the fortunate few in the balcony seats, it’s a large, long, vast room and YOU ARE STANDING THE WHOLE TIME.

    Epic Jane’s

by Rex on 3/12/23Hollywood Palladium - Hollywood

I’ve seen them over a dozen times since 1989, and I’ve never seen them better. Perry was fantastic and obviously joyous. And being reunited with Eric seems to have greatly reinvigorated the band.

    0 stars if I could

    by t. n. on 2/1/23

Went to see Janes CO-HEADLINE # NOT! w/ Smashing Pumpkins and was a complete let down . They played for 1 pathetic hour . Dave wasn't there ( which we knew ahead of time ) The stage show was a joke .They only had ONE girl on each side of the drum kit sitting on a rocking horse the whole show > LAME ! I guess when you only tour 3 times since 1991 and charge 150.00 for lower level seats ( not platinum or premium or broker) I expect a little more . 2001 Jubilee tour with dancers all the way around the floor of the arena , lots of stage props , dancers/entertainers , costume changes for Perry . One of the best concerts I've seen . I get fuel prices are more ( did I mention 150.00 ? ) . You're trying to save as much money as possible and it shows . You can't even play for longer than 1 hr ? This was not a Janes show it was an insult to the fans ! And, the 3rd show in 30 years ! , was over booked by promoter - IN A BAR ! The Brick Mpls, Mn . This stunt ended up being on ALL our local news stations, a " I hate The Brick " website was created and, everyone was refunded their money . Please don't insult your fans that support anymore until you WANT to deliver

    Excellent Show!

    by drawcoder on 11/20/22

Jane's Addiction was great at Footprint in Phoenix with Smashing Pumpkins! Amazing to see some of the originals and a hit of nostalgia. Perry gets into it and the show has some nice production and some eye candy. Bonus. Perry warned everyone in Phoenix about the Gila Monster and later James from Smashing Pumpkins played into that warning about them as a joke. Good vibe all around from Jane's Addiction, Smashing Pumpkins and opener Poppy. Hopefully I can see them again, come back!

    Weak program for Jack FM0

by QE2LUVR on 9/27/16Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre (formerly Verizon Wireless Amph) - Irvine

Although some of the bands were repeats, the line up was not the best compared to past shows. But was enjoyable being at Irvine for the last time.

I mainly came for The Cult, and they were awesome. I wasn't familiar with Garbage, but they were fantastic too! Also, I only knew 1 Jane's Addiction song, but dang, I loved them too! Dave Navarro was brilliant! Seriously would definitely see these groups again! Thanks Jack

The show was amazing. I think Chevy Metal should have played later and on the main stage. I didnt know they were playing until the next day.
