JANE’S ADDICTION IN CONCERT:

Alternative rock pioneers Jane’s Addiction have awed fans with superior musicianship and over-the-top showmanship for more than three decades, and they’re still going strong. The band's potent blend of alt-rock, metal, and punk is pure sonic boom and their live shows are equally explosive, flooring fans with full-throttle funk metal shredding and far-out visual spectacles. Flamboyant frontman and Lollapalooza founder Perry Ferrell commands the stage with cocksure rock star swagger, pumping up the crowd with wild-eyed intensity until they reach a blissed-out state of rock nirvana. Superstar guitarist Dave Navarro is equally magnetic, shaking fans to the core with his high-octane riffage on scorching favorites like “Stop”, “Been Caught Stealing”, and “Mountain Song”. Jane's Addiction are alt-rock legends for a reason, and their fun and freaky live performances are a can't-miss experience for any alt-rock fan worth their salt.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Singer Perry Ferrell formed Jane’s Addiction with original bassist Eric Avery in 1985, eventually teaming up with guitarist Dave Navarro and drummer Stephen Perkins. The group exploded on LA’s underground rock scene, attracting the attention of Warner Bros. Records, who commissioned the group’s 1987 self-titled debut. The following year they released their sophomore album Nothing’s Shocking, which they supported as an opening act on tour with Iggy Pop and The Ramones. With the 1990 release of Ritual de lo Habitual the band became a household name, as singles “Stop” and “Been Caught Stealing” raced up the alternative charts. Despite their breakthrough success, the group imploded in the early '90s over heavy drug use, as half the band tried to get clean while the other half partied on. After the break up Ferrell found success in the mid-'90s with his new band Porno for Pyros while Navarro became one of the most in-demand guitarists of the decade, playing with everyone from Red Hot Chili Peppers and Nine Inch Nails to Janet Jackson and Alanis Morissette. Things remained icy between the two until they buried the hatchet in the early '00s, thrilling fans with a string of Jane's Addiction shows and the 2003 album Strays. The band has been back full-time since 2008, continuing to rock legions of fans with their pioneering funk metal sound and live-wire performances.

Great lineup - too much fun for some people!

by BigDoubleD on 9/26/16Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre (formerly Verizon Wireless Amph) - Irvine

The excitement of Jack's 11th show and the end of an era at Irvine Meadows was just too much fun for some people to handle so we had to hear the last sets from the parking lot - oh the stories we can share well into the future lol. Maybe it was all of Jack's subliminal messages leading up to the show! Anyway, Garbage was great!!

    Overall I'm glad I went

Mixed bag.. I was more excited about going than I was to be there. I was looking forward to garbage.. but sat through most of it. The cult did a great show. The historical value of seeing Jane's addiction play at the meadows was worth it.

    JACK'S 11TH WAS A BLAST

by tainbey on 9/26/16Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre (formerly Verizon Wireless Amph) - Irvine

I have been in the stage lighting industry for over 35 years and have done many gigs at IMA and have also done gigs with all 3 of the top bands on the bill and I am truly saddened that it is closing down so I thought I better get to a concert, the entire evening was so much fun, the way the grounds were set up was very cool and all the bands did an amazing performance...

Janes Addiction was bad to the bone!

by Rushfan3 on 8/4/16Freedom Hill Amphitheatre - Sterling Heights

It was like 100 degrees out and horrible and they still jammed and kept the crowd excited! Jane's has never disappointed us yet! Always a great time, always a great band! Living Colour was also extremely awesome. Their musicianship is phenomenal and Corey's singing. Blows us away every time! Two bands that will live in our hearts forever!

Outstanding show. Anyone who did not attend this tour missed out! Twenty-fifth anniversary of Ritual de lo Habitual album. A line up that was a throwback to original lollapalooza. And a live burlesque show going on in the background. This show had it all music was rockin and opening acts were great.

    Always Timeless

by Gargie2 on 7/29/16The Fillmore Philadelphia - Philadelphia

Jane's Addiction always puts on a good show. Every time I see them, I feel the "flashback" to 1990 something. They still sound the same - fantastic, awesome, and always, always, always worth every penny.

good show over all. Jane's sound was a bit off but got better as the show went. but it's out doors so i know its hard, but that is what sound check is for and they are a professional band. Beer line were way to long and i only had one beer so i could actually see the show!

I waited a long time to see Jane's...

by 1MetalChic on 7/26/16Jacobs Pavilion at Nautica (formerly Nautica Pavilion) - Cleveland

and they delivered! I remembered so much about why I love them as a band. Great songs, great lyrics, great guitar playing by Dave Navarro (he's really underrated) and a charismatic frontman/performer - Perry Farrell. There seemed to be some audio issues in the beginning of the set but no fault of Jane's Addiction - Nautica's fault? It was resolved part way through the show.

I was so excited to see Ritual de la Habitual performed in its entirety and Jane's Addiction did not disappoint. They somehow have gotten better with age and it wss a pleasure to see it happen.

    Worth the wait

by OhioDawn on 7/26/16Jacobs Pavilion at Nautica - Cleveland

I had tickets to see Jane's addiction back in the early 90's but my mom wouldn't let me go to the show :( Over 25 years later I finally got to see them and they did not disappoint! Perry commanded the stage and sounded great. Dave looked and sounded amazing, as did the rest of the band. Living Colour was great-I wish they had played longer Dinosaur Jr. was ok. I love the venue, highly recommend seeing a show here.

While this show pales in comparison to the ultimate experience they preformed in Detroit long ago at the Fairgrounds on 8 mile which will live in my mind forever...it was enjoyable. Freedom Hill had something wrong going on with the sound but Perry's voice still conquered the adversity of the situation. LOVE JANES!!

    Sound was horrible

by hqweashlfkjhs on 7/26/16Jacobs Pavilion at Nautica (formerly Nautica Pavilion) - Cleveland

I was so excited for this show, having waited 25 years to see them perform this album. The sound from the band was ok but you could not hear Perry Farrell. Actually the microphone for all of the acts was awful. You couldn't hear the lyrics just vaguely here and there you could catch a word. I waited for the sound to be adjusted and it never was. I don't know if it was the venue or the sound manager. It ruined the show for me and we ended up leaving before the encore.

    HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!!!!!

by SLG1462 on 7/26/16Freedom Hill Amphitheatre - Sterling Heights

Let me start by saying that I am 49 years old and have been following this band since the 80's. I have been to hundreds of concerts and seen Jane's several times including the first Lollapalooza tour that got everything started. I was BEYOND excited for this show at Freedom Hill Amphitheatre in Michigan. Last time I saw Jane's with Audioslave and Queens of the Stone Age at Pine Knob / DTE and the bands were all amazing but the Jane's Addiction show was mind blowing. The show Saturday night was the opposite of that experience. I am not sure whether it was the venue or the band itself but this show was a complete Amateur Hour. It was obvious right off the bat that there were sound issues. These continued to be a problem throughout the show. Dave fiddled around with his guitars and was changing instruments and seeming frustrated. Perry had earpiece issues and there seemed to be coordination problems with synchronicity. The whole thing seemed contrived. It seemed like they had not rehearsed at all. The connection with the audience was solid because I think fans like me wanted "the magic to happen". Frankly I was embarrassed for the band. I hope they can get it together in time for Lollapalooza in Chicago. Last, the dancers were a distraction and not in a good way. Their presence detracted from an already irritating experience. Maybe they were locals brought in for the evening. That would explain why they did not really fit in with the show. I know this happens from time to time and every show cannot be amazing. I know it was HOT outside. Really Really HOT. But I do not think that is the reason for this flop. For the sake of the fans, either get it together or go home. This was painful to watch. In fact, we left early.

    Really enjoyed the show

by Remymartin09 on 7/25/16Stone Pony Summer Stage - Asbury Park

It was great seeing Jane's Addiction at the awesome Stone Pony Summer Stage. The band was tight and seemed like they were having fun. Perry's voice was in good shape and Navaro owned it. At the Stone Pony there is not a bad seat in the house and we were up close which always adds to the ambience.

    Jane's Addiction was incredible!

by NicNac1974 on 7/25/16Freedom Hill Amphitheatre - Sterling Heights

Living Color's sound was awesome! I dug the bassist he rocked. Dinosaur Jr. their sound quality was over powered by the guitarist and you couldn't hear a word they were singing. Jane's Addiction was on point from top to finish. Loved they played the album from beginning to end. With an always favorite Jane Says to finish it off. There was a surprise at the 2nd to last song but you'd have to see that for yourself! I'd do it again if had the opportunity.
