    Emma the Musical

by Jrsornts on 1/8/13Herberger Theater Center - Phoenix

I wasn't sure what to expect as I love Jane Austen but a musical? It was fantastic--funny, beautiful music, fantastic cast, romance...it was wonderful. Emma and Mr Knightly have a ton of chemistry and boy can they sing. the supporting cast is extraordinarily talented. Emma is literally on stage in almost every scene and she is incredible...I can't recommend this enough...go go go before it is gone. Sit anywhere and have a wonderful two hours of laughter and wonderful new music.

    A play for all ages

by PhoenixJudy on 1/8/13Herberger Theater Center - Phoenix

Took my Granddaughters ages 14 and 10 and they both LOVED this play -- as did I ! The cast was perfect, the costuming great, acoustics were perfect even though we had wonderful seats. The play moved along with no slow parts; plot was easy to understand even though I hadn't read the book. This play is a real winner and should go to NYC for sure!!

Great night out with my girlfriend. She was so enthusiastic after the show she said she would love to see it again. You put together an awesome cast, lot's of laughs and a lovable, wring her neck leading lady. All the voices were superb and we would heartily recommend this wonderful show to all.

Emma is a must see for Austen Fans

by KirkDK on 1/6/13Herberger Theater Center - Phoenix

My wife, daughter and I attended this event New Years Eve. Being fans of Jane Austen, we were not disappointed. The singing and music was so good - I would like to find a CD. All the cast, particularly the lead, were excellent. If debating on whether or not to go - Go!

    A wonderful night of theatre

by Winberg on 1/6/13Herberger Theater Center - Phoenix

A stellar cast brings Jane Austen's EMMA to life with beautiful songs and excellent performances. It's a funny light-hearted show, and the sets and costumes elegantly off-set the talent on stage. Great for all ages, this show should not be missed.

    New Year's surprise!

by Artistnan on 1/2/13Herberger Theater Center - Phoenix

I don't mean to be contrary, but expectations were not high because it was a musical. The singing talent was top notch. The voices were beautiful and the blending of story and song well done. The second act especially mesmerizing. I would go on New Years Eve again. Thank you Herberger for bring great talent to Phoenix.

The AZ Theater Company production of Emma was amazing. We felt the set design, music and acting all fit together perfectly. We will definitely go see another production by this company.

    A wonderful adaptation

by ACaitlinB on 12/25/12Temple of Music and Art - Tucson

I've never been particularly in love with Jane Austen but the musical pieces brought Emma to life and the characters were relatable and funny. Highly reccomend it and think a musical is the only way to present Austen's work!

    Emma was Well Done!

by HLII on 12/24/12Temple of Music and Art - Tucson

Really a cute version of Jane Austin's Book. Characters were well cast for the catchy dialogue and songs. Especially liked the main character playing Emma. She carried off the self-centered part with humor and grace.

Emma was hilarious and on target!

by yourstruly18 on 12/24/12Temple of Music and Art - Tucson

I am a big fan of Jane Austen. This play was based on the book Emma by Jane Austen and was on target in terms of the rendition of the characters and of the plot. I liked the singing and felt it enhanced the themes of the play. The actors were excellent.

I took my husband for my second time

by AnnJaneAustenfan on 12/23/12Temple of Music and Art - Tucson

Very moving performance esp the interpretative song by "Mr Knightley." I cried both times I went. Even though the actors are American, they did very well with British accents. Mr Churchill was very dashing and Mr Woodhouse was appropriately annoyed by all the changes around him.

So charming, and stayed true to the language and feel of the book. Loved Emma and Mr Knightly. The music flowed nicely and advanced the story very well. It didn't feel contrived.

Costumes were great. Acting quite good, music also very enjoyable. You had to forget about Austen's book and just relax and enjoy the play for what it was. Emma did a great job, Knightly was wonderful.

    The beautiful tale of Emma

by Anonymous on 12/16/12Temple of Music and Art - Tucson

We had such a wonderful evening! The cast was lively and fully entertaining in their character renditions. The costumes were lovely, the backdrops and scenes were creative and visually appealing...I really enjoyed the set changes done so discretely by the household staff. Thank you for giving us such a wonderful evening!!
