About

Influenced by the likes of D’Angelo and Stevie Wonder along with Burial and Mount Kimbie, James Blake is known for injecting some soul into the genre of dubstep. The London-based producer first gave the world a taste of his quirky, R&B-sampling strain of dubstep in 2009 when his Air & Lack Thereof 12” appeared on the Hemlock label. Blake received quite the endorsement when the heralded Soul Jazz label picked the track up for their Steppas' Delight 2 compilation that same year. In 2010 the R&S label released his CMYK EP while Hessle Audio issued his 12” single The Bells Sketch. ~ David Jeffries, Rovi

    Go see James Blake every.single.your.

by Che LG on 10/12/23MGM Music Hall at Fenway - Boston

My wife and I saw James Blake two years ago when he came to Boston. I loved that when we showed for this years concert, the stage was designed exactly how we left it last time. The details in the lighting were incredible, and I loved how the first albums made a heavy appearance in this set. I could listen to James and his group play for hours, especially now that I learned their backstory from Uni! Overall, I’ll always recommend seeing James Blake when he is on tour. You can come in an experienced fan, or as someone who has maybe been exposed to only a few songs; either way you’ll be entering a great show.

    Immersive, Intense, James Blake!

I loved it, the sound system was super, I wasn’t bothered by anyone in the general admission… best concert I’ve ever had

Amazing but bass in your face

by Scotian in Boston on 10/12/23MGM Music Hall at Fenway - Boston

Not sure if it was the venue or James' team to instigate, but the bass made the treble inaudible. I get that bass gives a visceral, almost tangible quality to the show, using that many more senses (like not being able to breathe properly because the bass is interfering with lung function; no, that's not hyperbole). Otherwise, very good set and I'd see him/them in Halifax as well if they came. Also, bring ear plugs. I'm so glad I did.

    Bravo!

One of my favorite concerts. Would feel more comfortable calling it a rave if more people were dancing on the ground floor. Silly them.

Outstanding and Best of the year

by Mark B on 10/6/23Coca-Cola Roxy - Atlanta

First let me start with the fact that Ticketmaster DOES NOT have a proper layout of the venue so my seat that looked like an end seat on the site was in the middle of a section. I’m 6’2 and picked the end for a reason. The show was beyond amazing. Amazing performance. Amazing sound. Amazing lighting.

The concert itself was great. James was phenomenal. The seats at the venue were very uncomfortable. The staff was great.

    Life is Not the Same

by LG on 10/19/21Tabernacle - Atlanta

James Blake played an amazing set and gave Atlanta a lot of special moments! Huge shout out to the collab artists as well! The only change I’d make to the venue is add some way to know at the downstairs bar who is playing. We missed the entire opener because it didn’t sound like someone was playing upstairs yet.

    The Show of Life

by kim on 10/19/21Tabernacle - Atlanta

I have anticipated James Blake for so many years, and he did not disappoint, in the slightest. Atlanta is, and I quote, "[His] favorite place to perform in the entire world." I am so so thrilled that I got to see him while here. There was truly a feeling of gratitude for living in Atlanta. I enjoy live shows to no end. James Blake is by far one of my favorite artists now to see live. I now know that he is in the top two. From start to finish, the show was mixed entirely live, and the chemistry of his bandmates was incredible. They have been performing together since secondary school, at the age of 12. Moses Sumney and Jameela Jamil, his girlfriend, were also in the crowd. Apparently, they all knew the show in Atlanta would be as incredible as it was, and that felt amazing. The audience fed off the energy of the stage and vice versa. Again, I don't think I would want to see him anywhere else. Great delivery, truly a sense of humility from the artists, including the opener, Fousheé and the guests Monica Martin, SwayVay, JID. So so incredible.

    Outstanding in all ways

by Mary Kay on 10/19/21Tabernacle - Atlanta

This was my first pandemic concert, and the Tabernacle made it feel as safe as they possibly could. They required proof of vaccination or negative test at the door, and at least half of the people inside were wearing masks, too. But the concert itself? Amazing. James Blake... amazing. The music was mixed beautifully, you could tell he was excited to be there, the lighting was captivating, and we got to see THREE features. I was delighted.

    Best James Blake show!

by From Klavierwerke with Love, on 10/18/21Tabernacle - Atlanta

James is one of my favorite artists, up there with Bon Iver, Travis Scott, and Justice Der. I’ve seen him twice, the other time was also at the Tabernacle…or Buckhead, can’t remember. That show was great, but this one was better. I love the fact that he played a couple of unreleased tracks, and gave us 3 extras before he left too. And we got Swae and JID. Seeing the love JID gave him just showed how real James is, and hearing him talk about mental health on the Apple Music video series with Zane Lowe was so refreshing. I love him, and this one show was better than all of ONE Music Fest (which I was just at the previous weekend in Centennial).

    Best Concert Ever!

by trulybluefilms on 10/18/21Tabernacle - Atlanta

Not only was this my first time at the Tabernacle, but this was also my first time seeing James Blake after listening for 8 years. HE BLEW US ALL AWAY! We rocked the house and it was the best concert I've ever seen.
