  • Absolutely the best out of hundreds I’ve seen

by David S on 3/16/24Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

I’ve loved Acaster’s work since I first heard him in the Good One podcast discussing his Great British Bake-off joke (story) and have watched all his specials. But this was the first time I’ve seen him perform live. The show was unlike many and almost seems like it’s in a rare category. It definitely isn’t pure standup and joke-telling. And it was hilarious through-and-through, so it wasn’t just a one-man show or monologue. The only other show I can compare it to is Gary Gulman’s The Great Depresh. So glad I went. I will make sure to catch Acaster the next time he’s in New York for sure.

  • Great night. Funny. Warm. Engaging

Incredibly funny stories. Wove numerous threads together. A fabulous balance of kindness and humour.

  • Simply funny

James Acaster was great, I deeply recommend, super funny and stories are incredibly funny. Thoroughly enjoyed every minute and would love to go again!

  • Introspective and Hilarious

by Frankie on 3/15/24Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Adored this show. James really opens up about his long term relationship with stand up and the audience in a witty and in depth look into important childhood moments and how they remain with him today. His humor and whimsy make such serious confessions, not only light enough for the stage but absolutely hilarious. You can tell how this set has been curated and tinkered with (love the childhood toys in the stage) to make it what it is today.

  • Great show! First time seeing James Acaster.

Great show! First time seeing James Acaster, my significant other is a huge fan. I wasn't prepared to lol that much. The venue , the Beacon, was amazing. Perfect for the show.

  • Great night, Tons of laughs

    by Chefty1 on 12/10/23The Loft - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

My favorite comedian in a 250 seat space. This was a spur of the moment gig that got scheduled and I couldn’t have been happier. Not the normal set he’s done and it was perfect. The show was sold out, but it seemed it was bought mostly by scalpers/bots. About 60% of the seats were filled. This didn’t go unnoticed by James. This provided for a more relaxed and improv’d type set. LOVED it. Added bonus, got to meet James after the show.

  • Off the cuff

by Apricots on 12/10/23The Loft - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Hilarious, like always. He was wonderful with the audience, so comfortable on stage. He had no script, what an amazing at improve. You can tell he’s having fun that is what matters. I laughed so hard, ended up with a sore throat. Disappointed in the fans. Only have the ticket holder showed. That was unforgivably disrespectful to James. He is nice and extremely beautiful.

  • Best Night Of My Life

by AG on 11/17/22Buckhead Theatre - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

James Acaster brings humor, real-life stories, and important truths in this new special. The show is told through several childhood stories and seeing them through a different lens after therapy. Not only was show hilarious I couldn’t stop smiling and laughing. After the show, my boyfriend and I take selfies of the stage after every show we see. James comes out quickly takes a selfie with and runs back. Then we waited at the stage door after, signed our books and even talked with us for a second. He’s an important comedian to me and it was nothing short of amazing.

  • The best of the best

by KE on 11/16/22Arts at the Armory - SomervilleRating: 5 out of 5

A fantastic blend of masterfully knit together narrative and banter with the audience. James is brutally honest about himself and his audience, sometimes uncomfortably profound and always incredibly funny. What a privilege to see this guy live!

  • 10/10 cats, I mean stars

by Stephen Minney on 11/16/22Arts at the Armory - SomervilleRating: 5 out of 5

What to even say… such an incredible show. He’s such a unique voice in the comedy world and if you have any inkling that you might like his humor - GBBO stint, 8/10 cats, Netflix or Vimeo specials, run don’t want to see him live. He is truly a master of quick witty humor and has such an empathetic view of the world - but balances that by pushing the envelope and discomfort in just the right ways. Cannot wait to see him again

  • Favorite comedian of all time!

Th the memories, I want merch! (Speak the first two letters in James’ accent) Seriously, really fun show! For being the last show on his tour he still had plenty of energy and the material felt fresh.

I don't have a lot of review to leave I just want to say it was awesome to see James Acaster in person and I hope more British comedians start touring in the US.

  • Did not disappoint

by Mel on 11/11/22Rating: 5 out of 5

Caught the show in Philly. It felt like an extension of his Cold Lasagna Hate Myself 1999 show in the sense that he embedded much of his comedy in personal stories, this time mainly from his childhood and early career. Funny and poignant, it was a joy to watch and so much fun. He openly invited heckling, although none of it came from the crowd until his encore performance, during which he interacted spontaneously and deftly with audience members.

  • Protect the Boy at all costs

by Kobe Jo on 11/9/22The Regent Theater - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

The show was everything I had hoped it would be! James never disappoints and the heightened audience interaction really shows off his quick wit and effortless comedic skill. I laughed, I cried, and I think the woman sitting next to me peed a little. 11/10 in all categories. Best comedy show I’ve ever seen.

  • Everything I wanted and more
