About
Jack Johnson has released seven studio albums and two live albums that have sold over 25 million copies worldwide since 2001. His Brushfire Records label and touring crew have been leaders in the greening of the music industry and his All At Once social action network connects fans with local non-profits at each tour stop. Jack, with his wife Kim, founded the Kokua Hawaii Foundation to support environmental education in Hawaii's schools and communities, as well as the Johnson Ohana Foundation to support environmental, art and music education worldwide. Proceeds from these albums and tour profits, along with Johnson's personal charitable activities, have resulted in over $37 million donated to charity since 2001.

Kokua Festival Rocked!
by sunandsurf on 4/25/10Waikiki Shell - HonoluluRating: 5 out of 5Such a great show this year....saturday night was waaaaaay better than Friday night for some reason. Jack was more relaxed and it just flowed better.....front and center, the only place to be!!

Good music for a great cause. Mad props to Jack and Co. for putting on a great event!
NO ENCORE!!!
by gpatn on 4/25/10Waikiki Shell - HonoluluRating: 2 out of 5On the poorer side of productions. Have attended 3 other Kokua Festivals and this by far was lameist. Jack is always amazing but wish he would explain songs like he did at october event. Others, so-so. BIGGEST downside, NO ENCORE -- Really??? No love to the fans -- thought more of Jack Johnson than that!!! Popularity begets Stardom begets separation from the fans -- ouch! Always nice that proceeds go for good causes, tho one has to wonders...............

FABULOUS event, highly recommended. Beautiful location and weather. Great overall message, the misson of the concert is admirable. Family friendly and lots of fun "green" food/ item vendors. If you can get tickets, be sure to go!
It was good except for the fools in the crowd.
by JohnnyHot on 4/25/10Waikiki Shell - HonoluluRating: 4 out of 5I've seen Jack in more intimate settings where people were more respectful to the music and there weren't a lot of jokers there drinking beer, doing drugs, and trying to talk to their friends over the music. The Waikiki Shell staff needed to be more diligent checking peoples tickets because there were a lot of fools coming down from the grass area and taking peoples seats in the reserved. I'm all for getting a better seat but like I said, there were a lot of fools that needed "direction." BUT FOR THE MUSIC - Jack and his band jammed. Ziggy rocked out an acoustic set that was intimate because he touched people with his words as well as having his family join him on stage. Jake, best ukulele player in the world. Henry Saint Clair Fredericks gave us a taste of Hawaiian and the blues which was unsurpassed. I'd like to check him out in a small blues club. Plus some other local artists that were very good at what they do.
Kokua Festival was greatt!!!!!

Shimabukaro took music to another level
by AinaIsMom on 4/25/10Waikiki Shell - HonoluluRating: 5 out of 5Feeling successful and good about the value of family philosophy and world health is worth singing about. Love the new song, what kind of creature are you? Ziggy is proof we do not need CHANGE, but stability. I'm stoked he wants to take KHF programs to Jamaica. Loved the slide show. The kids were proud to see their school, 'Aikahi Elementary, on the screen, and felt like they belong. Than you Jack Johnson.

great concert as always jack is the best and I will be sure to see future kokua festivals
Jack is awesome
by Keawe on 4/25/10Waikiki Shell - HonoluluRating: 5 out of 5People say that Jack Johnson is not a performer, however, when he's playing songs like breakdown, one cannot help but get in the zone. Moreover, seeing him on stage is the ultimate sing along experience. It is also worth noting that everyone I've ever talked to who've met him say he's the nicest guy. It's worth noting that Adam Topol his drummer is nice guy too. I know this because I met on the day of the Saturday show.
Great sets from start to finish
by KAloha96792 on 4/25/10Waikiki Shell - HonoluluRating: 5 out of 5We ended up going both nights and they were amazing! We go every year, but this year we loved everyone from start to finish...it was an amazing two nights and well worth doing the beach clean-ups. Besides the music, the booths are always really interesting and I totally dug the passports.
My first and not the last
by rayhawaii on 4/25/10Waikiki Shell - HonoluluRating: 5 out of 5Alot of very educated, well behaved people all together enjoying the same type of music outdoors under the sun and the moon. A great lineup of musicians. I will be at the next concert in 2011 with the wife and the 2 kids again. I hope Ziggy got my pictures of his father taken at the Shell in 1979.
Mixed feelings
by AMFM on 4/25/10Waikiki Shell - HonoluluRating: 3 out of 5The music, while on the soft side volume-wise, was great. Things would have been better if people had not been standing up. I had a spot on the lawn and was quickly surrounded by people standing up all night. I understand the desire to dance, but please have some consideration for other people. There are some who may be short or unable to stand for long periods of time.

Less than stellar...
by AlohaFromKailua on 4/25/10Waikiki Shell - HonoluluRating: 2 out of 5Taj Mahal's set was by far the best, but otherwise the show was a kind of boring. A few comments on Fridays show.... 1. Next year, PLEASE schedule at least one act that has some ROCKIN energy. I enjoy all of this year's performers, but on the same line-up it was happy nap time. Ziggy with a band would have been rocking, but solo zzzzzzzzzzzzzz. (Bring back Spearheard or ALO!) 2. When the website says coolers with food are acceptable, WHY would you NOT let us in with our coolers? We had two options, check our and go without the food we just bought OR miss part of the show and ea t in the park! 3. Having security tell us to sit down on the lawn during the Jack Johnson set was an embarrassment to us and for the Kokua Foundation. It's a freaking rock show people, get off you lazy okoles and show some love for the performers. Even Taj encouraged the people to get up an dance. Maybe next year they can change to the name to the "Footloose Festival" with NO DANCING ALLOWED! 4. We had planned on going both days, but were disappointed enough to sell our Saturday tickets at a loss. Apparently, the artists played the exact same set on Saturday and most even wore the exact same clothes! Couldn't you barter a sponsorship with a clothing vendor that a change of clothes for the performers? When I received the tickets I purchase, the amount of disposable junk enclosed was "less than sustainable." Despite having a less than stellar music this year, Jack and Kim continue to to awesome work with their foundation. MAHALO to them and to the entire Kokua staff for an excellent job with planning and touching the lives of keiki throughout the islands!
