About

Jack Johnson has released seven studio albums and two live albums that have sold over 25 million copies worldwide since 2001. His Brushfire Records label and touring crew have been leaders in the greening of the music industry and his All At Once social action network connects fans with local non-profits at each tour stop. Jack, with his wife Kim, founded the Kokua Hawaii Foundation to support environmental education in Hawaii's schools and communities, as well as the Johnson Ohana Foundation to support environmental, art and music education worldwide. Proceeds from these albums and tour profits, along with Johnson's personal charitable activities, have resulted in over $37 million donated to charity since 2001.

The entire event was great. I loved at the end of the night when Jack brought everyone onstage to sing "Three little birds". It was unforgettable!! Great event!!!!!

  • Best Concert!!!

by JennyMartin on 4/28/10Waikiki Shell - HonoluluRating: 5 out of 5

I LOVED this concert! I thought it was cool to be educated through the Kokua Village and I loved that the artist felt a sense of responsibility to be involved with green/eco-friendly organizations. Beyond that, the music was fantastic and I loved the chilled out atmosphere!

  • slow

Everything about it was so slow!!!! We were literally falling asleep!

  • Kokua festival

by momlis on 4/27/10Waikiki Shell - HonoluluRating: 2 out of 5

The crowd was really noisy and was not paying attention to event--just partying. It was hard to enjoy the music. I think it may be beneficial to have marked out pathways in the grass areas so folks are not stepping over you all of the time..We tried to enjoy event and found the early part most enjoyable before the kids got too blasted. Noticed quite a bit of pot smoking going on too.

Awesome! Special guests: Ziggy Marley, Taj Mahal w/Hula Blues Band, Jake Shimabukuro, Anuhea, and Paula Fuga! Jack Johnson is not only an outstanding performer, he's a true environmental hero!

  • Jack's Kokua Fest

    by adale27 on 4/27/10Waikiki Shell - HonoluluRating: 4 out of 5

Jack always does a fabulous job... I've seen him many times before and always look forward to his shows. However, I have to admit that I was a little bummed that his Friday and Saturday night shows were just about the same. I bought tickets for both nights to hear more of a variety, so was a little disappointed when Saturday night came around and I'd heard it already.

  • Totally surprising

by majesticsound on 4/26/10Waikiki Shell - HonoluluRating: 5 out of 5

The Kokua fest totally took me by surprise. I really did not expect it to be sucha well organized and completely entertaining show. All the acts were great and the fact that Jack Johnson brought each one back to perform with him gave it a neighborhood show kinda feeling. It was super comfortable and it had a very relaxing attitude to it.

  • Kokua Festival

by DHarms on 4/26/10Waikiki Shell - HonoluluRating: 4 out of 5

Had a great time at the Festival, the music was awesome and the message about becoming more environmentally aware was well reinforced with the volunteers and organziations that came out to promote and support the event.

  • Jack was great!!

by inlow on 4/26/10Waikiki Shell - HonoluluRating: 4 out of 5

I liked all the acts...Sitting in seats for the first time for this event was way better than getting trampled on the lawn. I almost feel for the artists cuz the place wasnt full for most of the night until Jack Johnson came on and he only did a small sampling of his work. I would like to see him put on a 2-3 hour rockin show. LOVE Ziggly Marley...period! Seen him many a times on the mainland and he can only get better! Taj Mahal was a treat!! Jake Shimabukuro was fantastic. I wish more people would appreciate his style of music. My 7 yr old loves Jack Johnson so she had a great time. Jack and Kokua was her first concert back in 2007. Overall it was a great night! Many Mahalos to everyone!

  • Kokua Fest 2010 - Awesome!!

by Anonymous on 4/26/10Waikiki Shell - HonoluluRating: 5 out of 5

I went to both Fri & Sat nights of the Kokua Festival and both nights were fantastic! Jack did a few more songs on Saturday, and a couple of songs from his new album (which i'm anxiously awaiting). He sounded great singing w/ Ziggy, Paula, Taj Mahal, and it was awesome to hear him play ukulele w/ Jake! This concert was totally, totally worth it!! Looking forward to next year's line-up.

  • Jack Johnson and friends were smooth

by LuckyLesley on 4/26/10Waikiki Shell - HonoluluRating: 5 out of 5

I thoroughly enjoyed the whole line-up. I had heard of Taj Mahal, but didn't know him-now I am going to iTunes and adding him to my playlist. Anuhea as well. Jake, Paula, and Jack were wonderful. I always look forward to "Country Road." I also enjoyed the family show that Ziggy put on with his mother and then children. I didn't know about his child friendly songs. Initially, I was skeptical because this wasn't similar to his previous line-ups, but this is definitely my favorite Kokua Festival. Good job Jack and Kim.

Jack Johnson + Ziggy Marley + Jake Shimabukuro + Anuhea + Paula Fuga + Taj Mahal = epic.

  • Nice, but not worth the price

by JPup on 4/26/10Waikiki Shell - HonoluluRating: 2 out of 5

I love Jack, but he's best for backyard BBQ at home. I think that next time we will stay out in Kapiolani Park and make a day out of it! That scene was way better and more relaxed.

  • Amazing!

by rixmap on 4/26/10Waikiki Shell - HonoluluRating: 5 out of 5

Congratulations once again to Kim and Jack Johnson for their tireless efforts on this great event! Their commitment to Kokua is admirable and we should all be inspired by their example to want to help and inspire our young to do better and live green.
