The intention of Kokua festival to spread earth saving awareness is great. Loved all the booths and all natural, earthfriendly products. Jack Johnson, Ziggy Marley, Taj Majal, and Jake were all fantastic. I especially enjoyed Jack Johnson. I was disturbed by the security making everyone throw away food and pour out their water. For an event that is promoting Reduce, Reuse Recylce it was ironic to throw out food and water.

About
Jack Johnson has released seven studio albums and two live albums that have sold over 25 million copies worldwide since 2001. His Brushfire Records label and touring crew have been leaders in the greening of the music industry and his All At Once social action network connects fans with local non-profits at each tour stop. Jack, with his wife Kim, founded the Kokua Hawaii Foundation to support environmental education in Hawaii's schools and communities, as well as the Johnson Ohana Foundation to support environmental, art and music education worldwide. Proceeds from these albums and tour profits, along with Johnson's personal charitable activities, have resulted in over $37 million donated to charity since 2001.

Great Evening
by FancyNance on 4/25/10Waikiki Shell - HonoluluRating: 5 out of 5Great music!! Great event! They thought of everything . .. educating the kids about sustainability, engaging them in activities. The bike valet was a great idea. Some vendors didn't have recyclable plastic though and it had to go in the rubbish. The drink lines were way too long ... they couldn't handle the flow. Maybe consider additional vendors?.

Phenomenal show! Jack Johnson and Ziggy Marley were outstanding.
a real family event
by ewamom on 4/25/10Waikiki Shell - HonoluluRating: 5 out of 5As always Kokua exceeded my expectations. I brought my 2 1/2 year old daughter and it was such a family rich environment that we both had a great time. The keiki got a private performance from Jack, got to make recycled art and learn about being more eco-friendly. It was a great way to spend the time leading up to the music acts. The food this year was great and overall the concert was well organized. This year's Kokua line-up was rich with different sounds. Jake S. was fantastic! The collaboration songs with all the musicians (ziggy, taj, anuhea, paula, jack) were great- a good way to reinvent some older, but classic songs. I honestly think Jack sounds better in concert than on CDs.
Kokua Festival 2010 was forgettable
by samkenkai on 4/25/10Waikiki Shell - HonoluluRating: 2 out of 5Too much "old" stuff...getting stale. Also, too many restrictions on food and beverage being brought in.
Another great Kokua Fest
by Arrhenius on 4/25/10Waikiki Shell - HonoluluRating: 5 out of 5It seemed like a slightly more local line-up this year, but everyone sounded great. Jack was at his best this year!
Listen children love the earth
by Cheeksxtootsie on 4/25/10Waikiki Shell - HonoluluRating: 5 out of 5I can't think of another concert aside from the Clearwater festival aka hippyville that has brought so many generations together for a good cause with such a rewarding outcome! My eyes and ears were filled with so much positivity and I couldn't be happier! Jack Johnson topped the night with his smooth, mellow voice and his honesty of forgetting even his own lyrics :-p His dedication to the kids and kokua cause is amazing. What an awe inspiring person! Jack must have made his wife Kim's night with that dedication. They truly must be "better when there together!" Ziggy brought his kids out to play some tunes...couldn't have been more adorable. I'm sure Bob was smiling down when all the performers sang about how "every little thing gonna be alright". Anuhea kicked off our night and Big Deal was a success! Great shout-out to The Green who backed her up. Taj's signature voice added a new feeling to the reggae flow. Props to all that worked the show! The venue was awesome the tents set up outside were enjoyable and informative! My earthday resolution was to buy local produce and cut carbon emissions. What was yours? Merch was great. Fairly priced (unlike the beers) and they took cards! Garlic fries were noms. Wish I could have gone both days. Bottom line...nothing but kokua love here.
Jack is in the house!
by PopsicleToes on 4/25/10Waikiki Shell - HonoluluRating: 5 out of 5Hawaii is fortunate to have such a caregiver as Jack Johnson and the Kokua Foundation. It's not just Jack's music that communicates reflective thought to the people but his actions as well. The Kokua Festival hosted so many wonderful, passionate vendors all working toward a common goal; making our world a better place to live and love. The musical performers were so gracious and warm with each other and the audience. Literally, a big, happy ohana. Thank you, Jack, et al.
Kokua Festival Rocked
by Anonymous on 4/25/10Waikiki Shell - HonoluluRating: 5 out of 5It was a good event for everybody. The artists were for every age group and nobody was left out. The vendors were really nice and gave some pretty good info about recycling and going organic.
Thank you for an awesome two days!

KOKUA FEST IS THE BEST
by skeeminbman on 4/25/10Waikiki Shell - HonoluluRating: 5 out of 5Great event...even better concert! It doesn't get any better than the Kokua Fest at the Waikiki Shell. It's all about environmental awareness and making Hawaii better one step at a time. All the artists were amazing and they made sure you got your money's worth. The set was ridiculous...so many great moments from Jack, Ziggy Marley, Taj Mahal, Jake, Anahea, Paula Fuga...just an insanely great night!!! Don't miss the Kokua FEST EVER...make it a point to attend every year they have it! THANKS JACK JOHNSON and friends for a great night...
Epic
by TheOrigionalHebrewHammer on 4/25/10Waikiki Shell - HonoluluRating: 5 out of 5Epic show. A must see. Jake rocked out with Ziggy and Jack on his uke. The sound was amazing.
Jack Johnson, Ziggy Marley & Anuhea were amazing!!
by SteveBDH on 4/25/10Waikiki Shell - HonoluluRating: 5 out of 5One of the best concerts I have seen! Anuhea opened the show-she totally rocked the Waikiki shell! Ziggy Marley was excellent. Jack Johnson really put on an amazing show - I highly reccommend the Hokua Festival Concert!!! Mahalo & Total Aloha!!
Amazing show with a great lineup!!
by stoked4surf on 4/25/10Waikiki Shell - HonoluluRating: 5 out of 5The show was very entertaining and intimate at the same time even though there were hundreds of people. Jack invited everyone who opened on the stage for a song or two and really made it a special event. The only thing to improve on was the rules. On the event website it was posted that you could bring coolers with food. Everyone I know brought food and was told there was a last minute change. A lot of food was wasted due to this. Better communication next time por favor. Thanks for a great show!!!
Happy Vibes
by JessietheCalifornian on 4/25/10Waikiki Shell - HonoluluRating: 5 out of 5The concert and crowd was amazing. Everyone was so happy to be there and Ziggy and Jack were incredible!
Plenty Aloha at the Kokua Festival
by KalenaB on 4/25/10Waikiki Shell - HonoluluRating: 5 out of 5The weather was perfect, the vibe was mellow, the tunes were jammin' and it was all for a great cause - environmental education in the schools and helping to preserve the music curriculum, too!
Johnson was great
by Anonymous on 4/24/10Waikiki Shell - HonoluluRating: 4 out of 5I enjoyed the festival. Only issue was that I did not have time to see all of Jack's performance (left at 9:30, show ended at ten) but it was definitely eco friendly with good music.
Kokua Festival ruined by pot smokers
by Aloharunner on 4/24/10Waikiki Shell - HonoluluRating: 2 out of 5I went to the Friday afternoon show which started at 4:30 p.m. The booths and food offerings were great! The beginning shows were the best like Jake Shimabukuro and Ziggy Marley. At this point, the crowd on the lawn where we were sitting with many families with small children, was manageable and mellow. By the time Jack Johnson got on stage, the crowd was much bigger and the lawn area was congested with the smell of pot smoke. Many families with small children got up and left because of the pot smoking. People became rude and stood up in front of people who wanted to mellow out laying on the lawn. I couldn't breathe because of the pot smoke. My party left the concert early after Jack Johnson had sung three songs...because the concert wasn't fun anymore. I will never attend this concert again in the future.
OMG It was PERFECT!!!
by WeenieMommy on 4/24/10Waikiki Shell - HonoluluRating: 5 out of 5Jack Johnson and Friends in the Waikiki Shell...What more can I say? The whole vibe, crowd included, was like being at a family gathering!! True Ohana! Jake was incredible and he earned 4 new fans from among our group of 4!!!
