J.I.D. In Concert

You're going to want to catch a live set from the Atlanta rapper behind one of 2018's most acclaimed hip-hop albums. J.I.D. brings a vital energy and lyrical dexterity to his songs live on the stage, and he's no stranger to huge crowds: in 2017, he opened up for J. Cole's 4 Your Eyez Only tour, joining his Dreamville Records boss on a six-month stretch that spanned North America, Europe, and Australia. Following that marathon run of performances, J.I.D. set out in 2017 on his Never Had Sh*t tour — the rapper's first headlining trek, which featured support from EarthGang, members of his Spillage Village collective. Since then, J.I.D.'s graced the stage at Miami's 2018 Rolling Loud festival and performed "Skrawberries" live on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon as a tribute to his frequent collaborator, Mac Miller. In early 2019, he'll be taking off on a 34-city tour — named the Catch Me If You Can tour after the 2002 film starring his hero, Leonardo DiCaprio — which begins at Chicago's Patio Theater and caps off in Birmingham, Alabama.

J.I.D. Background

At age 28, J.I.D. is finally beginning to get the attention he deserves, thanks to an undeniable combination of masterful rapping and good old-fashioned hard work. Born with the auspicious name of Destin Choice Route, the East Atlanta native got his nickname from his grandmother, a reference to his "jittery" demeanor. The same erratic nature informs his rap style: his restless, kinetic bars trace the intricate patterns of a mind racing at a mile a minute. J.I.D. grew up on Atlanta's Bouldercrest Road, the same stomping grounds as a young Gucci Mane. But where Gucci's songs sprang from trap houses, J.I.D. favors jazzy, upbeat boom-bap that folds in influences from trap, soul, and R&B. You could say the guy's a rapper's rapper; after five years of mixtapes and EPs, he even got J. Cole's attention, signing to the North Carolina superstar's Dreamville label in 2017 and releasing his debut album, The Never Story, the same year. But 2018 was J.I.D.'s biggest year yet: he nabbed a coveted spot on the cover of XXL's 2018 Freshman Class and released DiCaprio 2, his best album to date, with features from A$AP Ferg, Ella Mai, and Method Man. (And of course, J. Cole, who J.I.D. inarguably out-raps on the album's second single, "Off Deez," in a thrilling student-becomes-the-teacher moment.) The newfound acclaim couldn't be more deserved: in an era where virality often seems to trump skill, J.I.D. proves that craftsmanship still matters.

  • Amazing performance

    by Bigfish187 on 10/22/25Uptown Theater Minneapolis - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

If you’re even thinking about this concert I shouldn’t even have to say how talented j.i.d is his music sounds even better in person. But I really enjoyed Chris Patrick and Young Nudy. Small venue relatively close even if you’re not in the thick of the crowd. Everyone got in and out relatively quickly considering the small venue.

  • Incredible

by Kibs on 10/22/25Uptown Theater Minneapolis - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

Was blown away by the performance, dude is unbelievable. He even stayed after the show to sign autographs because the crowd was so into his set! WHAT A SHOW!

  • I came for Nudy

by Dos on 10/18/25The Dome - Virginia BeachRating: 5 out of 5

Young Nudy was who I came for. His performance was great and he really engaged the crowd. He deserved more time. I left after. Merch was nice.

  • Great Stuff

by Mrs. Walker on 9/22/24Entertainment & Sports Arena - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

JID is known for his hit song Surround Sound but he has amazing music. I’m a fan of his now. His music that’s not played in the radio is top tier. The venue was great as well, not a bad seat in there.

  • Great Performer

by Mel on 8/19/24Rating: 5 out of 5

Went to a 21 savage concert with him and Nardo Wick and he lowkey carried the whole concert. From vocals to stage presence he was great me and my friend both agreed he needs his own tour.

  • Fantastic show at Camden

by Jae on 6/11/24Rating: 4 out of 5

Saw my 2nd JID show in Camden, again absolutely incredible. Great set, great energy, great vocals, he did such a great job playing off of the crowd, and hearing songs like Sundown & Surround Sound live in full was incredibleeeeee. I can’t stop raving about JID, if he’s ever in your city just go. Only complaint was visibility to the stage and the somewhat short set length compared to his album tours, but the show as a whole was great.

  • Electric performance from one of the GOATs

by Jae on 4/1/24Rating: 5 out of 5

Saw JID at Luv is 4ever last year at the Fillmore in Philly, he’s one of the best in the game right now and hands down the best performance I’ve ever been to. Amazing energy, some of the most creative and hardest-hitting songs in hip-hop today, the crowd was absolutely amazing and so respectful. Absolutely worth seeing every time he comes through.

  • Amazing show

every song was beautifully performed with top tier energy, JID WILL be the GREATEST rapper EVER when it’s all said and done

  • Most fun I’ve had at a show

    by Jess G. on 3/29/23Rating: 5 out of 5

I had tickets for balcony 1 seats in Cincinnati. Even with the physical seats up there I still managed to dance through the whole show. The stage had a dope infinity heart set, JID sounded amazing the whole way through and was so humble with the crowd. Smino was so great to dance to. I didn’t stop having fun for even a second. I’d pay whatever to see both time and time again. Security and organization through the venue were very nice and helped direct everyone quickly and clearly. The merch options were also super dope. I’m glad I got to make it to this tour.

  • Seeing JID was like talking to the dead homies.

    by J.A.E on 3/27/23Rating: 5 out of 5

The most articulate, genuine, nostalgic rapper I’ve ever seen. Thank you JID.

  • Loved His Stage Presence and Entire Performance

    by Dee P. on 2/25/23Rating: 5 out of 5

From his engagement with the audience to the vocals and energy on the stage. I was screaming all the words to his songs and I can’t wait to see him again (Hopefully next time I’m in the front lol)! Also I hope next time he gets a slightly larger venue and maybe he tries one with designated seats. If not though that’s still fine, I do still like the more intimate venues. Anyway, Luv Is Forver 💕❤️‍🔥.

by Tae on 10/11/22Rating: 5 out of 5

Please experience him before he goes BIG TIME! dreamville has excellent taste in artists and Jid is not short of that! His cadence to stage presence and playful attitude is always so much fun to see live. His mosh pits can get crazy but it’s all love and just always a good time at his shows!!
