About

JB Smoove is best known for his breakout role as Leon on "Curb Your Enthusiasm" which has firmly planted him as one of the best comedic actors today.
After spending several year as a stand up comedian in New York City Smoove moved to Los Angeles and landed a recurring role on MTV's "The Lyricist Lounge Show," as well as featured guest spots on "The Chris Rock Show" and "Premium Blend."   This led to his first big feature film, where he narrated and starred in the cult classic "Pootie Tang," reuniting with Rock.  Smoove subsequently following this up with a co-starring role opposite Adam Sandler in "Mr. Deeds."
After a season as a cast member on the sketch comedy program "Cedric the Entertainer Presents," Smoove moved back to New York City where he landed a writing position on NBC's "Saturday Night Live."  He later was a recipient of the 2007 Writers Guild award for "Best Comedy/Variety Series" for his work on the show.
In the standup and acting worlds, Smoove has been featured on "Tough Crowd," "Jamie Foxx Presents: Laffapalooza," and several "Saturday Night Live" and  "Late Night with Conan O' Brien," sketches. He was a recurring character on "Everybody Hates Chris" and later became a cast member on the Brad Garrett  sitcom "'Til Death."  He will next be seen as host of the new Comedy Central standup series, "Russell Simmons Presents: The Ruckus,". Smoove recently shot his own one-hour stand-up special "That's How I Dooz It" for the cable channel and will be co-starring in the NBC series "Bent".  Smoove also serves as host of this year's CLIO Awards special, celebrating the world's best commercials, which will be seen on NBC later this year.
On the big screen, he appeared in "Date Night" with Steve Carell and Tina Fey and the Farrelly Brothers directed comedy, "Hall Pass." His most recent film projects are "The Sitter" with Jonah Hill, "We Bought a Zoo" featuring Matt Damon and "The Dictator" opposite Sacha Baron Cohen.

    JB Brought the Ruckus

by Fountain Hills on 10/4/21Showroom at Talking Stick Resort - Scottsdale

JB is comedic genius and the perfect vaccine to pandemic doldrums. He gets 5 stars! The intimacy of The Showroom is great. The alcoholic drinks (we had a margarita and vodka and cranberry were among the worst I have ever had—a cup of ice and watered down nothingness. I’m personally not a fan of seeing shows within casinos. That said, it was nice to get out and enjoy great comedy.

by Tattletale on 10/4/21Showroom at Talking Stick Resort - Scottsdale

Mr. Smoove killed it, I was literally rolling around on the floor laughing my butt off, would love to see him do a show again. I go to a lot of stand up shows and this was definitely top 3!

    Ridiculously Funny..!!

    by Karen Lynn on 10/2/21

If you really need to get out, shake off some of this pandemic blues, and laugh until your head and stomach hurts, go see JB Smoove. He tells stories like no one I've seen. I promise you, you will have the time of your life, listening to the way he sees things. His energy --- he rarely stops moving, but when he does, he keeps you watching his every move. He is polished --- none of this, show up wearing whatever he was already wearing. He looked great! If you don't have your tickets yet, you should do yourself a favor and get them NOW! He is ridiculously funny!

    Loved the show!!!!

by Hotel Dude on 3/2/20Punch Line Comedy Club - Sacramento - Sacramento

We died laughing, just like the pre-comic said we would. JB is HILARIOUS!!!!!! I would recommend seeing him again. My only issue was the venue. Tables way too small for 4 people with drinks and food, and requiring 2 drinks a person, 2 items would make more sense as we did food and drinks, not just drinks...

    Just ok

by NikkiBaby on 10/8/19Balboa Theatre - San Diego

Some of his jokes and stories were funny... some of them weren't and lasted a really long time... like the brown bread at the cheesecake factory joke...yeesh! That was a 20 minute story that seemed like it would never end. It's not very often that I'm at a show, with great seats and wondering "is it over yet?" But this was one of those times.

    J.B. Smoove, San Francisco

by Dmcsean on 8/27/19Palace of Fine Arts - San Francisco

100% recommended! Hilarious & he was on stage for 90 minutes, quite a feat for a stand-up comedian to do that much less be extremely funny throughout! Warm up act (~15-20 minutes) was also funny.

    Needs improvement

by N. B. on 8/27/19Palace of Fine Arts - San Francisco

The venue was nice. This was my first time seeing J.B. Smoove as I didn’t know he was a comedian and I see why. He’s hilarious on television but not stand-up. I love comedy, but I was honestly ready to leave early....it was a snooze fest.

Was good, but just not great.

by Dave D on 7/30/19House of Blues Dallas presented by Cricket Wireless - Dallas

He had a few really funny spots, but a lot of low areas that did not seem to build up to a great bit. I expected the f bomb- but every 3rd or 4th word--probably could be a bit more creative. Overall, the venue is fantastic, and the show was worth the price - but did not blow me away.

    Definetly funny

by JeanaB on 7/29/19House of Blues Houston presented by Cricket Wireless - Houston

JB Smoove, is funny, but not funny enough to see live again. I think his talent shows better on tv shows like 'Curb your Enthusiam'. I laughed , but not hard enough to spend $$ on a show parking, and drinks. The event seating sucked Soo bad. Everyones seat was so close that I couldn't relax ..
