Incredible very impressive and relaxing Experience
Lights were on was not great did not like itcoild been better.Would like to heard it better and see it better
Great venue, but seats in Mezz Center A have partially obscured view to stage. Consumer should be warned. Thus, one less star. However, Mr. Perlman’s performance was stellar!
It is impossible to fault the performances of Perlman and de Silva. They are magical together. I would have preferred a couple of longer pieces for the second half in preference to a bunch of two-minute snippets of Fritz Kreisler, but the choice was not mine to make. I was, however, aghast at the clogging of the aisles with chairs, music stands, and musicians for the first 15 minutes of the concert. I have never before witnessed such flagrant violation of fire safety codes!
This was our first live event since the Pandemic began -- and it was wonderful!! Itzhak Perlman is fantastic -- an outstanding violinist as well as a great sense of humor. Bergen PAC is a wonderful venue -- their safety precautions were excellent (proof of vaccination and masks required). Our seats in the front balcony were great. Parking was easy. And the venue is only 15 minutes from our house. It doesn't get much better.
Entering the venue was organized despite covid guidelines. Mr Perlman was incredible. His mastery if the violun and his ability to interact naturally with the audience was incredible. He is charming, funny and engaging. I was astonished at his takent, nimble mastery of his instrument. I loved the second part of the show where he essentially " jamjed " with Rohan choosing pieces at that moment. Wonderful evening. Would see him.again and again !!
Itzhak Perlman is a magnificent violinist. There are not enough positive adjectives to convey how amazing he is. I never dreamt I would have the opportunity to witness him perform. I feel very fortunate and thankful to have been blown away by him with my closest friends.
Loved every bit of Itzhak Perlman. Amazing as always! Didn't care for audience members arriving late and being allowed to find their seats while he was sitting on stage waiting. Also had people trying to photograph or record even after they were told to stop by the usher. Very rude
Itzhak Perlman's' violin playing was sublime! And he has a great sense of humor and interacted well with the audience. A once in a lifetime experience.
Itzahk was great, as expected. Good choice of music, and good venue. We were in the balcony and could hear well, see well, and enjoyed the experience. Queue to get in was long, and the theater was packed, but it was not hard to get around. Only one thing: a stray stage light on the left side of the mezzanine was shining in our eyes. Some held up their program to shield their eyes from the light pointed at us.
Had a blast! Loved the music and his personality!!
When you're seeing and hearing the greatest violinist of the modern era, it's hard to find words to adequately describe the experience. This legend has virtuosity, tenderness, and musicality second to none. In addition, he is warm, funny, friendly and includes a repertoire for the sophisticated classical fan and the casual listener as well. A magnificent concert!
So glad I got to see this legend perform. His pianist is just as talented. I'm glad he interacted with the audience after intermission.
He played a total of 2 hours, and it was all so wonderful. I have heard him on TV, CD's and such, but this live performance was over the top. The only wish I had was that for the first piece that the sound people had toned down the piano a bit, as in the beginning it dominated the program. But that was only a small part of the concert. Would go again in a heartbeat! Thank you!
Perlman's performance was magical. Pianist was also exceptional, but sometimes drowned out violin. Would have been nice to have someone introduce Perlman & explain the order of the first half of program. Perlman was totally charming in his introductions second half.
Overall, it was a marvelous concert. It's always exciting to hear a legend perform with such perfection and also to see how engaging he is in person. I was not disappointed in any way with the performance of either Itzhak Perlman or his accompanist, Rohan De Silva. I do have some suggestions to improve the experience in the future. 1. No one should be allowed to be seated during the performance, thereby disrupting the enjoying of those who are already in their places. They can either wait outside or stand by the entry door until appropriate times for applause. 2. The sound could be improved. I did not feel that the piano was too loud, -- it was as close to perfect as I have ever heard -- yet I could not hear most of the plucked noted from the violin. Perhaps a bit of amplification, or a bit more amplification of the sound would resolve this issue. 3. I was seated in the mezzanine, and the cold air blowing on me during most of the performance made it really uncomfortable. Perhaps pointing the air flow higher up would be better than having it blow directly on the audience.
The venue swallowed up the event. In addition, the piano over-powered the violin, even with the piano’s top down. The whole event may have been salvaged had the instruments been mic’ed and an effective balance struck in the the humongous room. Maybe the latter would have been impossible.
The concert was everything one could want in an Itzhak Perlman performance. Every ounce of love and beauty was evident in each note he played. Enjoyed it immensely.
I took my 7 year old granddaughter to the Itzhak Perlman concert at her request. She loved every second of the concert but especially the second half when Mr Perlman talked. She gave the event 9 1/2 of ten because the seat was uncomfortable!
The concert was truly amazing. What an incredibly talented musician with a great sense of humor! I was astounded, however, that the ushers let people come into the hall while Mr. Perlman was performing. Furthermore, this appreciative audience lacked proper etiquette clapping between movements of his three movement pieces. It certainly broke the mood for those who were focused on his technical, expressive performance. At one point, Mr. Perlman had to hand-signal the audience not to clap. Perhaps there could be some sort of announcement made at the beginning of the concert sharing with the audience the correct etiquette. Is this something UA Centennial Hall would consider? Thank you.
