Had a fabulous night enjoying White Christmas at the Cadillac Palace Theater. If you can make it happen, go see it. Everyone was great and it was especially nice to see Lorna Luft sing and dance! Start a new holiday tradition this year!
White Christmas has always been my favorite Christmas movie .. This play reminded me of that movie perfectly
White Christmas is my favorite Christmas movie and this was my first time seeing it on the stage; I loved it! It was both funny and heart-warming, with amazing performances from the cast and band, and pretty scenery. The dance numbers were especially fantastic. There were some aspects that worked better in the movie, and some that worked better in the stage version. I would definitely recommend seeing this!
If you like the movie- sadly, you won’t enjoy. This rendition pales in comparison! Songs are different arrangements, tempos etc, story is different. If you don’t know the movie, then you will probably enjoy.
I appreciate how familiar aspects of the movie are woven throughout the production while creating a theater experience of its own. I loved everything from the music, tap dancing, and story line to the audience participation at the end. The talent on stage was exceptional.
Had very enjoyable afternoon. Good seats, we could see and hear very good. My sister in law uses walker so we were close to aisle.
The voices of the male leads were too high. Thus the characters lacked substance. The dancing was technically competent but boring. Obviously the original script of the musical was shorter and less detailed than the movie. But it was a mistake to leave out the version of "Sisters" where the men performed. The lack of that song/scene was distracting and disturbing when it didn't appear in the musical.
I knew going in that it was not going to be like the film, but while the two "sisters" were very good in delivering the essence of Rosemary Clooney and Vera Ellen, the two male leads were abysmal. No personality to either...the Bob Wallace character didn't play the stature and confidence required and the Phil Davis character was turned into a womanizing shlub. No pizazz from either of them, no funny lines or exchanges between them, whoever wrote this needs another rewrite. As for the choreography...hmmm. The tap numbers were pretty well done thanks to the ensemble, but the hideous attempt at "While You're Dancing" was so much skipping and sashaying, it was disturbing to watch. It should have been cut in half. Lorna Luft has a great voice, but comedic acting is not accomplished just with a constant shout and shrill voice, but given the material.... It was almost as though that character was meant to steal the show from all of the leads by force. Overall, this could have been so much better particularly since the audience's anticipation of the iconic show stopping numbers is great. I immediately went home and played my DVD to wash off the memory of this production.
The show was fantastic. The singing , dancing, tap-dancing too, and costumes were all top-notch.
Lots of energy. Wonderful singing and choreography. Audible "awes" at the end for the finale. Freezing cold in the theater. Informed that it's not heated in the winter. Musicians in the orchestra pit were playing with their winter coats on. I made the mistake of leaving my winter coat in the car. The situation was ridiculous. I will never buy a ticket at the Cadillac Palace theater again during the winter.
The cast was talented, however the play didn’t follow the movie very much.
Overall, the singing and the dancing was good. At times, I thought the story dragged a bit. For whatever reason, the temperature in the theater was quite cool/drafty, and many people in our section (lower balcony) had to wear their jackets during the show. Not one of my favorite experiences, sorry.
White Christmas was filled with wonderful dancing, beautiful stage sets, and a fantastic cast. The only negative I would have was the the theatre was FREEZING.
What a fun night! We double dated with our daughter and her husband and had a delightful time. The show was a fun alternative to the traditional movie. The cast and orchestra were just great.
The show was fabulous but the theater was unbelievably cold. When you pay that much for a ticket you expect to be comfortable when watching it. May not attend another show at the Cadillac during the winter months!
This is the kind of old style song and dance musical I love. It makes clear why tap dancing should make a comeback in musicals. The production numbers were pure joy, and how can you not love the music of Irving Berlin. It's the perfect gift for lovers of musical theater.
White Christmas was a wonderful production! From the sets, to the costumes, and to the performers, all in all it was quite perfect. Also Cadillac Palace Theater is such a beautiful place. Not a bad seat in the house if you ask me. We had a wonderful time. The only negative thing I would say is the lobby was the same temperature as outside (in the 20’s) I have no idea why the heat wasn’t on.
A step back in time to the good ol’ days! Innocent fun, great music, beautiful costumes. Conjures up great memories and creates new ones. Enjoy White Christmas with your family and friends!!
Wonderfully sung and great dancing, it is a throw back to older musicals.
