About

Iron Maiden are one of the most formative bands to establish the heavy metal genre in the ’80s. Formed in 1975 in East London, the band underwent several personnel changes before releasing their self-titled debut in 1980. Iron Maiden’s sophomore effort, 1981’s Killers, was the first to chart in the U.S. and marked the final release with lead singer Paul Di'Anno. With the installment of frontman Bruce Dickinson, Iron Maiden released their breakthrough 1982 album, The Number of the Beast, which reached platinum certification, introduced two staples to the band’s catalog with the title track and “Run to the Hills” and kicked off a 10-year run of releases to land in the Top 40 on the Billboard 200, including their 1983 follow-up Piece of Mind and 1986’s Somewhere in Time. Dickinson departed in 1993, but returned in 1999 to cement the current lineup with bassist and primary songwriter Steve Harris; guitarists Dave Murray, Adrian Smith and Janick Gers; and drummer Nicko McBrain, along with the band’s long-standing mascot “Eddie,” whose skeletal figure has graced the cover of nearly every release and become a signature of their live performances. Iron Maiden reached a new level of mainstream success in the ’10s, winning their first Grammy in the Best Metal Performance category for their 2010 single “El Dorado,” while 2010’s The Final Frontier and 2015’s The Book of Souls both earned No. 4 placements on the Billboard 200, marking their highest-charting albums at the time.

Iron Maiden, they are heavy metal gods!!!

by scottiebsc on 6/10/10Superpages.com Center - Dallas

Dream Theater started off the evening with a hard and heavy show. It was my first time seeing them, they didn't disappoint. They were a very good match for an opening band. Iron Maiden, what can you say. Amazing, unforgettable.......the list goes on. It was good to see Eddy up on stage with them!! I just hope they don't stay away from Dallas as long as they had, we are waiting for the return of Iron Maiden again!!!

    Maiden's First Show in States

    by Carl0093 on 6/10/10Superpages.com Center - Dallas

First of all, I've liked Iron Maiden for 30+ years and have always enjoyed their music......but, last night was a dissapointment. Not because they didn't play well but because of their song list and the order they played them. I cannot believe they didn't play more of the old stuff. The crowd enjoyed the new stuff but you could tell they were drooling to hear the old songs. Once they played one of their old tunes, the crowd went nuts. Why didn't they play more from Killers, Iron Maiden, Number of the Beast, etc. This ain't Europe, this is the United States. Last comment.....They play awesome in concert even after 30 years. Change out the play list and add more oldies and you'll be back in business Maiden. You got the rest of the tour to wow your audiences.

I've listened to Maiden since the Number of the Beast alblum and got into music because of them and Judas Priest. Maiden's live shows have always been the best.

unforgettable- only because setlist was terrible!

by KURTSCH on 6/10/10Superpages.com Center - Dallas

THIS WAS IRON MAIDENS FIRST SHOW FOR 2010 WORLD TOUR. THEY HAD NOT PLAYED IN DALLAS SINCE THE ED HUNTER TOUR WHICH WAS BEFORE DANCE OF DEATH ALBUM. SO WHAT DOES MAIDEN PLAY? WELL THE FIRST 11 SONGS WERE ALL FROM BRAVE NEW WORLD(1999) DANCE OF DEATH(2003) A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH(2006) AND THE FORTHCOMING NEW ALBUM. IT TOOK 70 MINUTES FOR THEM TO GET TO A SONG CONSIDERED A HIT, THAT BEING FEAR OF THE DARK(1992)AND ENDED SET WITH IRON MAIDEN(1980). FOR THE ENCORE THEY PLAYED NUMBER, HALLOWED AND RUNNING FREE. I WAS EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS SET SINCE THEY DID NOT PLAY ANYTHING FROM PIECE OF MIND, POWERSLAVE, SOMEWHERE IN TIME, SEVENTH SON AND NO PRAYER FOR THE DYING, A SPAN FROM 1983 TO 1991 WAS COMPLETELY IGNORED, AND THESE ARE THEIR BEST ALBUMS. MY OPINION IS BANDS SHOULD PLAY HITS AND NEW ALBUM MATERIAL. I THOUGHT PLAYING MAINLY THE LAST 3 ALBUMS WAS A COMPLETE DOWNER. IRON MAIDEN SHOULD HAVE PLAYED 40 MINUTES AND DREAM THEATER FOR 110 MINUTES, BECAUSE DREAM THEATER WAS QUITE FRANKLY BETTER AND THEY WOULD HAVE KNOWN WHAT TO PLAY. AT LEAST MAIDEN DID NOT SPARE US TO DEATH WITH BLAZE BAILEY ERA SONGS.

    Iron Maiden disappoints in Dallas

by DisappointedMaidenFan on 6/10/10Superpages.com Center - Dallas

The playing was excellent, but the setlist was not. They only played 4 songs from their classic years and everything else was from the last four albums. There were a lot of disappointed people in the crowd, as we wanted to hear at least a good mix of old and new songs. Setlist 1. The Wicker Man 2. Ghost Of The Navigator 3. Brighter Than A Thousand Suns 4. El Dorado 5. Paschendale 6. The Reincarnation Of Benjamin Breeg 7. These Colours Don't Run 8. Blood Brothers 9. Wildest Dreams 10. No More Lies 11. Brave New World 12. Fear Of The Dark 13. Iron Maiden Encore: 14. The Number of the Beast 15. Hallowed Be Thy Name 16. Running Free I hadn't seen Iron Maiden since about 1986 or thereabouts, so this was a disappointing show for me.

    Iron Maiden's Opening Night

    by Scott1138 on 6/10/10Superpages.com Center - Dallas

An interesting set from Maiden, who played to support their 15th studio album, which is not released yet. So of course, new material was not played save for El Dorado which was released on the internet the day before the show. The set was primarily material from Brave New World, Dance of Death, and A Matter of Life and Death (all big numbers from those albums I should mention) so while it was cool to see some of those songs live for the first time, there was no classic Maiden until the show was more or less over. I think a lot of folks were waiting for 2 Minutes or Wasted Years or something somewhere and when they started Fear of the Dark, we knew we were in the home stretch and Maiden never omits Iron Maiden, Number of the Beast, or Hallowed Be Thy Name, so there were no surprises left for the show which was a little disappointing, but oh well. They did finish with Running Free which was pretty cool. I don't know if I've ever seen them (5th tour I've seen) where they played (not to mention closing the show) with Running Free. There were a couple notable opening night flubs. Paschendale was a let down because I love that song and the audio that intros it really got me pumped and then the wheels fell off in a pretty bad way. Maybe the sound on stage was off, but it seemed to me like Bruce was singing ahead of everyone, the guys were playing ahead of Nicko, and Nicko was just trying to play loud enough to get everyone else's attention until the synched back up, which they eventually did and hey, Paschendale is a pretty intricate song so...hey, they're only human, right? Aside from that and a couple minor tempo issues (Brave New World), they played well. I'm sure the shows where they've rolled out material from Final Frontier will be tight and more dynamic. We did not get the kind of set that ends up on a tour's live DVD, and I think everyone knew that. I did watch a grown man cry because he didn't hear 2 Minutes to Midnight as I was leaving. I guess he missed their last tour, live album, and feature film where they played all the classic tunes from the Powerslave era. Also, their stage set is AWESOME. Probably the best one since the original World Slavery Tour. Its beyond rad.

Great seeing Maiden live, only wish they'd played more of their older songs instead of their more recent releases.

    Typical Maiden

by UTAProfessor on 6/10/10Superpages.com Center - Dallas

Dream Theater opened, and they demonstrated their usual technical precision. The lead singer did briefly think he was in Houston, though. Maiden took the stage around 9:00 and played significant recent and new material. Bruce jumped and moved constantly and kept the crowd involved, commenting there were 12,000 in attendance. They did not delve much into their earlier material, and the main disappointment was no "Trooper". They played till about 10:45 and it briefly seemed they would do a 3rd encore, but did not. Overall, a good show, typical of Maiden, but I do wish they would have played more from "Powerslave" and "Somewhere in Time".

    Lost in Time

by Drumdawg on 6/10/10Superpages.com Center - Dallas

My 15 yr old son has been a fan of Maiden for a couple of yrs now. He never thought he would get to see them play thinking as long ago as these guys ruled, they had to have been retired. Was he ever surprised. They were as good if not better than when I saw them over 20 yrs ago on the Power Slave tour. These guys don't seem to be showing any signs of slowing down nor aging ...and yes they still RULE ! ! ! ! DD

    Iron Maiden

    by Badger84 on 6/10/10Superpages.com Center - Dallas

Muisians were spot on, soundboard mangement sucked. Also didn't appreciate fellow concert goers, who can't stay in their assigned seating area more than 2 minutes before they are up for more beer, restroom etc... very distracting.

    Kind of a letdown

by nocturnes on 6/10/10Superpages.com Center - Dallas

Overall, the band's performance was great. The stage set-up was really cool and the crowd was really into. However, the setlist for the night was a HUGE disappointment. Only a handful of older songs. The band focused mainly on material from the last ten years, 80% of the material from this era. I would go see them again only if guaranteed they were going to play actual material that defines this band for the millions of fans across the globe.

I wish the opening act would've done more songs.....5 wasn't enough for the die hard Dream Theater fans.......It would have been nice to hear more.... Iron Maiden of course "rocked".....was surprised and pleased at how long they played!

Iron Maiden continues to bring a high energy heavy metal show to the stage. I was very impressed. As a matter of personal taste I would have liked for them to have performed a few more of the classics from the 80's but that may just be my age coming through.

    Maiden Opening Night Okay

by Anonymous on 6/10/10Superpages.com Center - Dallas

Finally got to see Maiden at their Final Frontier tour - the setlist came up short on their classics. Only a handful of the big hits from the past. A bit disappointing. The stage backdrop is squared off on the sides so anyone seated far over to the right or left will be left missing a significant part of the visual experience. Lighting and rear wall graphics were great though - the constantly changing backdrop from song to song was nice. Overall, this show was average. Would have liked to see a bit more of Dream Theater.

    Houston? we have a problem!

by lgmdrew on 6/10/10Superpages.com Center - Dallas

NO PIECE OF MIND?!!! NO POWERSLAVE?!!! The only dips into the well that brought Iron Maiden to greatness was Hallowed Be Thy Name, Number of the Beast, and Running Free. These along with their title song "Iron Maiden" was all that was played off of the first 5 Maiden Albums. if you are like me, that is when you became a MaidenHead! Bruce's voice was fantastic. i would have loved to hear him do the trooper, or flight of icarus, or run to the hills, but instead we got a lot of the past three albums, which were not their best collections. I could also do completely without the third guitarist Yanik Gers (sp?) He pranced around like he should be in Def Leppard and he does nothing musically for this production. Stage set - Awesome!, Steve Harris - Awesome, Nicko - Awesome! But I want Dave and Adrian and the songs that made Maiden the metal masters they are. the chops are obviously still there, but crowds are going to be dissappointed with this set list. As a huge Dream Theater Fan I just would have liked more of them. Please come back to Dallas soon!!! We were all stoked when the instrumental opening of "As I Am" started their set, then in a true Spinal Tap moment, James Labrie came out saying "Hello Houston!!!" His voice was great the whole set, but it was strange that he was confused on the first night of the tour.

    Iron Maiden

    by 111111be on 6/10/10Superpages.com Center - Dallas

They should kick Janik out of the band. He has nothing to do with what made Maiden. They played music off the last three albums. The band should be ashamed. I have supported Maiden many years and seems as though they have lost touch. Maiden was never about being relevant. I want a refund.

Iron Maiden blew down the house!!

by yardbyrd on 6/10/10Superpages.com Center - Dallas

First time to see these guys and they certainly lived up to the many reviews I have read over the years. Sound at Smirnoff was louder than usual which made the show way better.
