About

Iron Maiden are one of the most formative bands to establish the heavy metal genre in the ’80s. Formed in 1975 in East London, the band underwent several personnel changes before releasing their self-titled debut in 1980. Iron Maiden’s sophomore effort, 1981’s Killers, was the first to chart in the U.S. and marked the final release with lead singer Paul Di'Anno. With the installment of frontman Bruce Dickinson, Iron Maiden released their breakthrough 1982 album, The Number of the Beast, which reached platinum certification, introduced two staples to the band’s catalog with the title track and “Run to the Hills” and kicked off a 10-year run of releases to land in the Top 40 on the Billboard 200, including their 1983 follow-up Piece of Mind and 1986’s Somewhere in Time. Dickinson departed in 1993, but returned in 1999 to cement the current lineup with bassist and primary songwriter Steve Harris; guitarists Dave Murray, Adrian Smith and Janick Gers; and drummer Nicko McBrain, along with the band’s long-standing mascot “Eddie,” whose skeletal figure has graced the cover of nearly every release and become a signature of their live performances. Iron Maiden reached a new level of mainstream success in the ’10s, winning their first Grammy in the Best Metal Performance category for their 2010 single “El Dorado,” while 2010’s The Final Frontier and 2015’s The Book of Souls both earned No. 4 placements on the Billboard 200, marking their highest-charting albums at the time.

Iron Maiden Calgary Sept 28, 2023

by Chris Tazzman on 10/1/23Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

Really enjoyed the show. It was close to a full house and the crowd was into it. Atreyu the opening band was good, and the crowd enjoyed them. The Maiden set featured five songs each from Somewhere In Time album and their new album Senjutsu so some of the classics were not played this time around. The highlights for me were the opening song "Caught Somewhere In Time", "Stanger In A Strange Land", "Writing On The Wall", "The Prisoner", "Fear Of The Dark", "The Trooper", and the set ending "Wasted Years.".

    Amazing like usual

by Marty on 10/1/23Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

Maiden is always a good show to see, they are professional, energetic and friendly. The stage was nice and the show was great but the crowd was not good like the crowd in Montreal where I live

    Disappointing At Best

by Dublevey on 10/1/23Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

I grew up in the 80s listening to Iron Maiden but have never seen them live until this concert…and was extremely disappointed! They never really got the fans going except for maybe Wasted Years. They also never played Aces High, Run To The Hills OR Number of The Beast!

    Absolutely Top Three

by PureOsprey on 10/1/23Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

Audience participation, stage theatrics, quality of sound, they really had it all. It was incredible. I’m glad I decided to go to this concert, it definitely made the following days brighter. The opening was also spot on. I would greatly recommend attending if you have already.

by Humberto Gómez on 10/1/23Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

There is better experience than an Iron Maiden live show ! It does not matter how old they are !!! They still leave their hearts ❤️ on stage

    Iron Maiden never disappoints!!

by Metal Music Lover on 10/1/23Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

Spectacular show!! Iron Maiden played for roughly 2 hours (including encore), lots of stage movement, great light show with backdrops and interaction with the crowd. Awesome appearances by Eddie and a showdown with Bruce and band. My 3rd time seeing these guys and they never disappoint!!!

Iron Maiden Best Live Band Ever!

by Metalhead Steve on 10/1/23Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

I've been blessed to have hundreds of bands live including Led Zeppelin, Stones, Kiss, Rush, AC/DC, Van Halen, Metallica & Black Sabbath among others(Never had the opportunity to see Jimi Hendrix)& Iron Maiden delivers in musicianship & stage production every time. The crowd left the building smiling & happy & best of all satisfied(except for not playing all their favorite songs which is impossible for Iron Maiden to do in a 2 hour performance with all the great songs in their massive catalog). Can't wait for tomorrow nights show!

    Iron Maiden-Did not disappoint !

by Claire on 10/1/23Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

Backup band was amazing! Atreyu rocked with its classic rock vibe and great instrumentals. Iron Maiden was a non-stop entertainment performance. Only disappointed that they didn’t play their classic Number of the Beast.

    Great performance. Poor song choices

by Derek C on 10/1/23Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

Been a huge fan since the early 80's. I thought the band was spot on with their playing. Bruce's vocals were stellar. The rest of the band was great. Particularly Adrian whose solos really popped. The song choices were disappointing. No: Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Aces High, Hallowed be thy name, powerslave, wrathchild, phantom of the opera,, killers, What we got was a ton of new songs and more obscure cuts from more popular albums. Sprinkled in a couple of hits like the Trooper. I would have skipped if I had seen the song list before I bought the tix. If you love new stuff or are into deep cuts then this might be the concert for you.

    For the real fans

by Poser on 10/1/23Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

I'm disappointed that they did not play their hits. Seemingly avoided them. There were some real fans there loosing their minds, but many did not know most or all of the songs on the set list.

    Amazing show!

    by B. W. on 6/25/23

I saw them in Tampa in November, worth absolutely every penny, and my wife thought it was amazing. Completely worth our time and trip. The sound, the show, everything was so amazing even from the crappy seats, if the opportunity arose again, we will see them again, no doubt in my mind.
