About

International Champions Cup North America Live

Picture this: Perennial contender for FIFA Player of the Year, Cristiano Ronaldo of Juventus, taking a pass from teammate Aaron Ramsey, dribbling past Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos and blasting a goal past goalkeeper Keylor Navas in front of a screaming crowd of 100,000 people. Normally, you'd have to be in Europe to witness this kind of marquee soccer action, but not when the International Champions Cup comes to North America each year. The North American portion of the Champions Cup brings together the most elite clubs in Europe before their respective seasons begin overseas, for an unparalleled display of world-class soccer across 11 U.S. stadiums. A 2014 match between Manchester United and Real Madrid at Michigan Stadium drew 109,318 fans and was in fact the highest attended soccer match ever on U.S. soil. The 2019 tournament features clubs like Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Inter Milan, Bayern Munich and for the first time, a Mexican team in Guadalajara F.C. The International Women's Cup starts a month after the Men's and features clubs like Lyon, Atlético Madrid, Manchester City and NC Courage.

International Champions Cup North America History

Since 2013, the International Champions Cup has been bringing the best soccer clubs in the world for exciting exhibition matchups in the U.S. What began as a separate cup for each region of the world is now centered primarily in North America, and a single winner is crowned based on the number of points after three round-robin matchups. In 2018, Tottenham Hotspur took home the cup with Borussia Dortmund as the runner-up. The nationwide venues for the tournament include football stadiums with a 70,000+ person capacity like Levi's Stadium in the Bay Area, MetLife Stadium in the New York area, NRG Stadium in Houston and others. Smaller, soccer-specific stadiums also play host to Cup matches like Kansas City's Children's Mercy Park, Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, SeatGeek Stadium near Chicago and more.

First time seeing an international match between top teams in Europe and the atmosphere was amazing!! Venue was also amazing but I wish my Gunners would have held on for the "W"!!!

  • Great game. Too bad they allowed standing in the aisles

    by Rat-1k on 7/26/19FedExField - LandoverRating: 3 out of 5

When did Fedex stadium allow people to stand in the aisles? It was like a free for all to get the unclaimed seats.

  • Great game...prices are outrageous all-around

by Bonita Gooch on 7/26/19FedExField - LandoverRating: 4 out of 5

This is my 3rd year in a row going to an ICC match. The first two, I sat in the nose bleeds and had an okay time. I decided to splurge and get half-field seats--worth it since I'm a DIE-HARD Gooner. However, $50 for parking, $15 per beer (not inc. tip), and $12 steak and cheese subs (maybe 8"?)...these prices are not sustainable for the average person. I think in the future to avoid these costs, I will metro to the stadium, Uber to the gates, pre-game (probably drink illegally), but will have to suck it up and pay the $200/ticket for great seats. It's amazing how these prices are 3 or 4x what you would pay in England, Spain, Italy, etc. I guess it's supply and demand.

  • Great atmosphere, great teams, lousy parking situation

    by J. A. on 7/26/19FedExField - LandoverRating: 4 out of 5

Tough to get to parking. These games should not be on weekdays or at least starting at 8 pm. other than that, it was perfect. Great weather, great game, great atmosphere. Loved it.

What an amazing experience. It was my first ever European football match and my daughter and I had a night to remember! Thank you to the ICC for making our dreams come true - getting to see Arsenal in person!!!

  • Awesome experience

by Lichterfelde on 7/26/19FedExField - LandoverRating: 4 out of 5

Had a great time at the game. Was worth driving 5 hours. Wish they would have had some pregame activities for the kids and maybe a chance to get closer to the players. Also more merchandise. Will definitely go again.

  • Super Festive

    by J. B. on 7/26/19FedExField - LandoverRating: 5 out of 5

Arsenal and Real Madrid played a spirited and professional exhibition game. A very proper balance of competition within the bounds working toward fitness and easing up to lower risk of injury. Both teams featured their stars liberally and as some of them started coming off it was great seeing the energetic newcomers play. The fans were fantastic. They really came to celebrate their joy in following their teams and I didn’t see anything but beaming faces in the stands. I might suggest 8:00 pm starting time. People came long distances for this international spectacle; likely farther than local events. But the event management was friendly and responsive and things went pretty smoothly.

Both Real and Arsenal played as if it was a match that truly mattered not just a friendly.

  • Amazing game!! Arsenal Vs. Real Madrid

by YaGunnersYa on 7/26/19FedExField - LandoverRating: 5 out of 5

Omg I had an amazing time! First time seeing my favorite club Arsenal play in live in person. It was a great game. It was an overall great experience getting to see so many of these footballers I have watched on tv for many years to finally get to watch them play in person. If you have a chance to see an international champions cup match definitely go! I look forward to the next one

  • Pretty Cool

by J. J. on 7/26/19Globe Life Park in Arlington - ArlingtonRating: 3 out of 5

The teams playing are awesome, the players are awesome, and the seats were awesome. Unfortunately it is a friendly match, so the players definitely aren’t performing at 100%.

  • Game was great, parking lot was awful

by magg on 7/26/19FedExField - LandoverRating: 3 out of 5

I have never in my life seen such a mismanaged parking lot. It took us over 30 minutes to get about 2 blocks and into the parking lot because there was such a bottleneck at the entrance. And then once we were in, there was no direction or information. We were late to the game because of this. Fedex Field is already hard enough to get to and then it took even longer and was that much more frustrating. Why isn't there like, easy public transportation to this stadium? It's ridiculous.

  • Best experience ever

by Gatugi on 7/26/19Children's Mercy Park - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5

It was a once in a lifetime experience as I never dreamed of watching FC Bayern from close range and seeing those players in person rather than on tv. A moment I will cherish forever.
