International Champions Cup North America Live

Picture this: Perennial contender for FIFA Player of the Year, Cristiano Ronaldo of Juventus, taking a pass from teammate Aaron Ramsey, dribbling past Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos and blasting a goal past goalkeeper Keylor Navas in front of a screaming crowd of 100,000 people. Normally, you'd have to be in Europe to witness this kind of marquee soccer action, but not when the International Champions Cup comes to North America each year. The North American portion of the Champions Cup brings together the most elite clubs in Europe before their respective seasons begin overseas, for an unparalleled display of world-class soccer across 11 U.S. stadiums. A 2014 match between Manchester United and Real Madrid at Michigan Stadium drew 109,318 fans and was in fact the highest attended soccer match ever on U.S. soil. The 2019 tournament features clubs like Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Inter Milan, Bayern Munich and for the first time, a Mexican team in Guadalajara F.C. The International Women's Cup starts a month after the Men's and features clubs like Lyon, Atlético Madrid, Manchester City and NC Courage.

International Champions Cup North America History

Since 2013, the International Champions Cup has been bringing the best soccer clubs in the world for exciting exhibition matchups in the U.S. What began as a separate cup for each region of the world is now centered primarily in North America, and a single winner is crowned based on the number of points after three round-robin matchups. In 2018, Tottenham Hotspur took home the cup with Borussia Dortmund as the runner-up. The nationwide venues for the tournament include football stadiums with a 70,000+ person capacity like Levi's Stadium in the Bay Area, MetLife Stadium in the New York area, NRG Stadium in Houston and others. Smaller, soccer-specific stadiums also play host to Cup matches like Kansas City's Children's Mercy Park, Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, SeatGeek Stadium near Chicago and more.

  • Great match - once you got there

The match itself was exceptional and featured many 1st team players. But.... Venue access and parking are a nightmare at FEDEX field.

  • Frustrated at the stadium loved the game

by Kellsbells on 7/26/19FedExField - LandoverRating: 3 out of 5

Upon arrival at the stadium I encountered several issues. I had checked the website prior to arrival regarding bags as I have several medical devices that must be carried with me (injectable medicine, inhalers and pills). My bag was 6x8 Inches and not see through which is larger than allowed but the smallest that would accommodate the epic pen and inhalers that I am required to carry with me. The first gate attendant I approached informed me that the bag wasn’t a medical bag (what classified as a medical vs non medical bag?)so it couldn’t be taken into the stadium. I asked to speak with a supervisor who told me that he could deny me entry because I could just carry all the medicine in my hands. He did eventually place a band on it for me when I explained that it was difficult to hold onto all of the necessary medical items in my hands. The third gate rep (actually at the metal detectors) told me the bag was fine as she held her plastic size piece up to it. It was quite frustrating to be told three different things. I’m all for safety at events where large crowds will be but it would be nice if the staff were all on the same page or the stadium clearly outlined the questionable things : what is a medical bag specifically? The game was lovely (I’m an arsenal fan) aside from the brutal loss during PKs.

  • Arsenal vs Fiorentina in Charlotte and vs Real Madrid in DC

by Keeno on 7/26/19FedExField - LandoverRating: 5 out of 5

Fiorentina game was more like a training exercise but event was well run. Real Madrid game was excellent. Competitive and high quality. Thanks for bringing teams to US.

  • Awesome game

We've been to every soccer game in the few years at Fedexfield and this was the best game. Great weather and quality of play

  • Game was fine but venue terrible and parking expensive

    by V. on 7/26/19FedExField - LandoverRating: 2 out of 5

Took over two hours to get there and inside and missed first half of the game! The combination of rush hour and stadium traffic was too much and it was mass chaos to get close to stadium park and get inside. Also tickets that were added to Apple wallet weren’t accepted you had to be logged onto ticket master which took more time and service was spotty.

  • International champions cup

by Jerhof on 7/26/19Children's Mercy Park - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5

There is not a bad seat in the house! There are two video boards to show you replays. The sound system is loud enough to hear the announcers talk. What a great experience!

  • Great Experience

Great to see two amazing teams and the right team won. ;-)

  • Great game, bad VIP/stadium experience

    by MM-CHI on 7/25/19NRG Stadium - HoustonRating: 3 out of 5

Staff at VIP Lounge sent us to a different section. We told them the instructions on our email gave us the location to that specific lounge. They would not even check our names on the list. We went to location “B” and that was the “Cantina”, where they sent us back to the original club. Again the staff tried sending us away until I insisted they look for our names on the list. Finally, after finding the names , we were given our wrist bands. We lost 20 minutes of VIP perks going back and forth. Upon leaving the stadium, we were given wrong directions twice for the ride share lot. This should not be happening at a major sports venue.

Real Madrid and Bayern Múnich gave us a super entertaining match! The venue was amazing and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this event!

  • The worse match

    by G. C. on 7/24/19NRG Stadium - HoustonRating: 1 out of 5

Low football quality game, players and coaches not interested in bring a good game

  • Fun

    by M. K. on 7/23/19NRG Stadium - HoustonRating: 5 out of 5

Had a great time. It was obvious that it was a preseason game because most of Stars didn’t play more than a half. However, that didn’t take away from seeing some fun high level soccer

  • Not alot of people like last year....with the switch

by gti on 7/23/19Bank of America Stadium - CharlotteRating: 4 out of 5

Better last year than this year because better opponents placed in the stadium.
