About

IN THE MOOD - The brassy, All-American celebration of Swing Jazz is finally touring Australia for the very first time in September, with show dates in Melbourne, Hobart, Launceston, Brisbane, Mandurah, Perth, Adelaide and Sydney.

IN THE MOOD brings a cast of nineteen featuring the blistering String of Pearls Big Band Orchestra and inexhaustible IN THE MOOD Singers and Swing Dancers from New York, on a nostalgic journey through the music which guided a nation's spirit towards hope, promise and prosperity.

The 1940's was a time when America was in tune with sentimental ballads and up-tempo Swing rhythms, where the waltz and foxtrot competed with the wild, acrobatic jitterbug, jive and boogie woogie crazed Hepcats on the ballroom dance floor.

IN THE MOOD recreates this defining era live on stage through sizzling choreography, sensational scats and romantic harmonies, sassy costumes and an hypnotic thirteen-piece Big Band, belting out an authentic score of over fifty unforgettable hits from Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Duke Ellington, Frank Sinatra and the Andrews Sisters -

Chattanooga Choo Choo, Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy (of Company B), In The Mood, Tuxedo Junction, Sing, Sing, Sing, Sentimental Journey and so much more.

Now in its eighteenth season of sold out performances throughout the United States, Canada and Europe, IN THE MOOD was performed at an Inaugural Ball for President Clinton and selected by World USO as an official entertainment for the 50th Commemoration of World War II.

IN THE MOOD Creator, Producer and Artistic Director Bud Forrest was also the accompanist for the official United States Air Force Chorus, the Singing Sergeants and says:

"Many of the arrangements were written by Vic Schoen, the conductor for the Andrews Sisters and Musical Director for Universal and Paramount Pictures.  The songs are timeless and this production is as authentic as it gets.  We are thrilled and honoured to be touring IN THE MOOD Down Under!"
Hep cats, lindy-hoppers and fans of the Big Bands, get ready to swing to the music which continues to inspire!

Tickets for IN THE MOOD are on sale from Monday 4 April with concessions for Pensioners, Seniors and Children in all theatres.

    In the Mood...fantastic, exciting, unforgettable!

by EvaJohn on 1/31/18Parker Playhouse - Ft Lauderdale

I felt like dancing throughout the show. Usually my husband falls asleep no matter what show it is but not with this show! Kept us participating and on the edge of our seats. Don’t miss it!

    Exhillerating!

by Pldlrk on 1/29/18Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

Fantastic orchestra, singing vouces, dancing and energy! As a late baby boomer I remember hearing war and postwar music. Singing along and dancing in place was involuntary. Loved the show!

    Boring and Strange Song Choices

by jamie5594 on 1/29/18Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

Most of the songs they performed were unrecognizable and I am 65 years old and listened to Big Bands my entire youth. They left out so many "famous" songs. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone

Really, really great show. The performers and band just couldn't have been better. WE enjoyed every moment of the show. Brought back memories of our lives in the late 30s and 40s like no other show. We will member this show until we pass-on. Five stars all the way.

    In The Mood was fabulous!

by LieftheViking on 1/29/18Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

This show is not just for the older folks! The music may be from a bygone era, but the vivacious and hugely talented cast makes it very fresh and exciting. The musicians are top-notch, the singers are wonderful - and the dancing is spectacular! It's great entertainment!

    In The Mood

The performance was excellent and the actors were fabulous! I took my Mom who is 93 and I enjoyed it just as much as she did. The songs were so memorable to her and I was amazed how well the performers danced-the little blonde has more energy than all of us-her facial expressions were so great! I was so touched how you recognized all our military service members in the audience-without them we would not have our country. Thanks for your continued excellent shows at the Cobb Energy Center! Band very good. Vocals weak. 2 main Dancers were good. I had 3rd Row center seats and had an echo on vocals. Not worth the money.

    Wonderfull and Underpromoted

by PK30066 on 1/29/18Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

Tool my 90 year old Mom and the show delivered exactly as expected. Nice to hear that big band sound and go back in time. With half the seats unfilled though it was disappointing to me that it wasn't promoted more. The very best part was to see a show where they showed regard for our service men and our country. At a time when the entertainment world is so liberal and all about making negative political statements it was great to be around such a crowd. Especially considering the age of the cast members.

In the mood was a sound problem

by Spankyandourgang on 1/29/18Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

The people are very talented. Unfortunately the sound system made it so you could hardly hear what was said and early on the words being sung.

    In the Mood was excellent

by AmberJosie on 1/29/18Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

The music was great and all players - musicians, dancers, singers - quite entertaining. Captured the mood of the U.S. entering WWII. I enjoyed the performance.

In the Mood really put you in the mood!!

by JRT10 on 1/28/18Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - Raleigh

The music, the dancing and the talent is unforgettable. For more than 2 hours you are transported to a time when patriotism was at its peak. At the end of the show they honor the active and veteran service men and women which evokes emotion in all. Thank you for keeping this music alive and reaching a younger generation as my parents did for me.

    in the mood on 1/25/18

by donnadoug on 1/28/18Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - Raleigh

The performance was fantastic. The Singers and dancers were phenomenal. The band with only thirteen members were beyond belief. They sounded better than most much larger bands. I thought the acoustics in the theater could be better or perhaps the sound system, microphones, etc. could use some upgrading. In places, some of the vocals sounded a little tinny. Overall a fantastic performance that we truly enjoyed and would certainly do again.

    Oldies

by Phrogflyer on 1/28/18Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - Raleigh

It was an excellent show. Not too long and with great music. The only problem was the over amplification of the band. In this venue the acoustics are so good using mics and amps can overwhelm the voices of the singers and speakers. Started out in the center and moved to the side after intermission and could then hear better. Singers and dancers were very good and the band a joy.
