About

IN THE MOOD - The brassy, All-American celebration of Swing Jazz is finally touring Australia for the very first time in September, with show dates in Melbourne, Hobart, Launceston, Brisbane, Mandurah, Perth, Adelaide and Sydney.

IN THE MOOD brings a cast of nineteen featuring the blistering String of Pearls Big Band Orchestra and inexhaustible IN THE MOOD Singers and Swing Dancers from New York, on a nostalgic journey through the music which guided a nation's spirit towards hope, promise and prosperity.

The 1940's was a time when America was in tune with sentimental ballads and up-tempo Swing rhythms, where the waltz and foxtrot competed with the wild, acrobatic jitterbug, jive and boogie woogie crazed Hepcats on the ballroom dance floor.

IN THE MOOD recreates this defining era live on stage through sizzling choreography, sensational scats and romantic harmonies, sassy costumes and an hypnotic thirteen-piece Big Band, belting out an authentic score of over fifty unforgettable hits from Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Duke Ellington, Frank Sinatra and the Andrews Sisters -

Chattanooga Choo Choo, Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy (of Company B), In The Mood, Tuxedo Junction, Sing, Sing, Sing, Sentimental Journey and so much more.

Now in its eighteenth season of sold out performances throughout the United States, Canada and Europe, IN THE MOOD was performed at an Inaugural Ball for President Clinton and selected by World USO as an official entertainment for the 50th Commemoration of World War II.

IN THE MOOD Creator, Producer and Artistic Director Bud Forrest was also the accompanist for the official United States Air Force Chorus, the Singing Sergeants and says:

"Many of the arrangements were written by Vic Schoen, the conductor for the Andrews Sisters and Musical Director for Universal and Paramount Pictures.  The songs are timeless and this production is as authentic as it gets.  We are thrilled and honoured to be touring IN THE MOOD Down Under!"
Hep cats, lindy-hoppers and fans of the Big Bands, get ready to swing to the music which continues to inspire!

Tickets for IN THE MOOD are on sale from Monday 4 April with concessions for Pensioners, Seniors and Children in all theatres.

Music definitely got me 'In The Mood'

by Anonymous on 4/19/17Performing Arts Center at OC Convention Center - Ocean City

Very entertaining. Great dancing. Wonderful music. Liked the musicians becoming part of the entertainment and not just sitting in the background the entire time. Volume of music sometimes got toooooo loud. thought it was just me, but saw another woman with her hands over her ears. Some of us haven't lost our hearing yet, so it hurt our ear drums some times.

    In The Mood was great

by dinglehoofer on 4/18/17Performing Arts Center at OC Convention Center - Ocean City

My husband and 20 year old grandson joined me for the show. My grandson was not familiar with this era of music, but he enjoyed it. We all were impressed with the big band sound and the harmonies of the In The Mood singers/dancers. Very entertaining. Like their tribute to the armed service veterans. My grandson is planning to joining the Air Force this summer was very impressed with the patriotism shown toward the veterans. Great show!

    Too long

by Helicon on 4/18/17Performing Arts Center at OC Convention Center - Ocean City

No energy from the singers, not singing as a group all sharp or flat. Hurt my ears.

If you like the big band era, the Andrew Sisters, nostalgic war songs, etc. then this is for you. The dancing and singing was top notch and the show included a military salute to military in the audience. The brass in the band, the pianist, the percussionist were all very impressive My husband and I loved this show!

by BGPow on 4/4/17The Plaza Theatre Performing Arts Center - El Paso

We recently had the pleasure of attending In The Mood. Everything about the show was perfect, the band was awesome as were the performers. The singing and dancing made it difficult to stay in your seat, wanted to jump up and start doing the "boogie woogie". This is a show not to be missed!

What a show - In the Mood a Great Night Out

by RockIslandJack on 2/27/17Adler Theatre - Davenport

"In the Mood" far exceeded expectations ... the musicianship was outstanding. The singers were extremely talented, at least one Julliard graduate. It's a shame that more people did not take advantage of this great act coming to town.

    In the Mood

by Mellew on 2/26/17Adler Theatre - Davenport

String of Pearls had the big band sound our parents loved--and passed down to us as a treasured inheritance. The songs brought back memories of Mom and Dad dancing. The singers and dancers were so talented and very energetic. Each song, each dance, each solo hit the wonderful charts for us. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Adler for In the Mood.
