About

IN THE MOOD - The brassy, All-American celebration of Swing Jazz is finally touring Australia for the very first time in September, with show dates in Melbourne, Hobart, Launceston, Brisbane, Mandurah, Perth, Adelaide and Sydney.

IN THE MOOD brings a cast of nineteen featuring the blistering String of Pearls Big Band Orchestra and inexhaustible IN THE MOOD Singers and Swing Dancers from New York, on a nostalgic journey through the music which guided a nation's spirit towards hope, promise and prosperity.

The 1940's was a time when America was in tune with sentimental ballads and up-tempo Swing rhythms, where the waltz and foxtrot competed with the wild, acrobatic jitterbug, jive and boogie woogie crazed Hepcats on the ballroom dance floor.

IN THE MOOD recreates this defining era live on stage through sizzling choreography, sensational scats and romantic harmonies, sassy costumes and an hypnotic thirteen-piece Big Band, belting out an authentic score of over fifty unforgettable hits from Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Duke Ellington, Frank Sinatra and the Andrews Sisters -

Chattanooga Choo Choo, Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy (of Company B), In The Mood, Tuxedo Junction, Sing, Sing, Sing, Sentimental Journey and so much more.

Now in its eighteenth season of sold out performances throughout the United States, Canada and Europe, IN THE MOOD was performed at an Inaugural Ball for President Clinton and selected by World USO as an official entertainment for the 50th Commemoration of World War II.

IN THE MOOD Creator, Producer and Artistic Director Bud Forrest was also the accompanist for the official United States Air Force Chorus, the Singing Sergeants and says:

"Many of the arrangements were written by Vic Schoen, the conductor for the Andrews Sisters and Musical Director for Universal and Paramount Pictures.  The songs are timeless and this production is as authentic as it gets.  We are thrilled and honoured to be touring IN THE MOOD Down Under!"
Hep cats, lindy-hoppers and fans of the Big Bands, get ready to swing to the music which continues to inspire!

Tickets for IN THE MOOD are on sale from Monday 4 April with concessions for Pensioners, Seniors and Children in all theatres.

    In the Mood

It was good, but not over $100 worth. Second half was far better than the first. Music was good, so was the dancing...voices not stellar.

It is a must see and I'd go again if it came back to town. Some songs will make you laugh, some will make you cry. It's patriotic throughout with an incredible salute to the armed forces at the end. Don't Miss

by vinnur on 2/10/18The Peabody Daytona Beach - Daytona Beach

I have now seen this show 3 times, taking others to this one of a kind show and have not been disappointed on any level. Although this is a nostalgic revue of the classic, memorable music from the roaring 20's through World War II. dance and music , it is also a celebration. It goes full circle from the innocence of a country to the harsh reality of war, separation of loved ones to hope and finally victory. The music reflects the times, the emotions, and with the fist rate actors and actresses singing and dancing through it all was nothing short of an exhilarating experience. They are none stop telling the story verbally, singing or dancing. The choreography is sharp, reflective and full of expression of "the mood". Their enthusiasm is contagious. Their songs are heartfelt. The tribute to all the armed forces is poignant and important to acknowledge. It is important to remember their sacrifices. In a current world stressed as it is, the show is a much needed reminder of where we have been and that we cannot lose hope but protect what we hold most dear...our freedoms.

    In The Mood was fantastic

by Revcat on 2/10/18The Peabody Daytona Beach - Daytona Beach

The dancers were the best! The music struck a sentimental chord. The only negative was when voice and band hit a crescendo it was too loud to distinguish either. But on the whole it was wonderful and picked me up. Though a bit much on the military. The nurse and sailor were great. Boogy woogy bugle boy was great but all that marine, air force, ETC. Was too much.

    Totally Delightful Show

by 1reggaefan on 1/31/18Parker Playhouse - Ft Lauderdale

In The Mood was a look into a time when music helped to raise the spirits of the entire Country. Just coming out of a horrible depression and right into World War II the nation had more than it's fair share of challenges. The big band era music was joyful and upbeat and it certainly managed to get you on the dance floor. The band in this production was as good as anything from the 40's. They flawlessly wound through year after year of hits and favorites while the singers belted out the tunes with clarity and emotion. The swing dancers were incredible, they had a winning combination of style and stage presence that kept you mesmerized and glued to their every move. It all came together to make a totally delightful evening of fun.
