    Rock & roll LIVES!

by FYHJJF on 9/15/17Teragram Ballroom - Los Angeles

I never miss an Ian Hunter tour, and he never disappoints! He's really as good as he ever was, and that's saying a lot. I even adore his more recent material ("When I'm President"), and that's unusual for a classic act. His Rant Band is perfect as well--a really talented bunch of fellows. The Teragram is a newer venue, and we really liked it. No seating just so you're clear on that --it's a BALLROOM. Small (200 cap?), so not a bad sight-line in the place. They have a small cafe that opens at show time, and we went in and had drinks and baja tacos which were really tasty. Johnny Depp joined the band for a few songs at the end of the show--that was fun!

    Excellent show

by glimmertwin on 9/15/17Teragram Ballroom - Los Angeles

Ian Hunter is a treasure. He is walking rock and roll history, but more importantly, he simply loves to play his music for his fans. If you have never seen him play and you enjoy his music, you must go to see him on his next tour.

Ian Hunter and The Rant Band at The Stony Pony

by RonPPB on 5/24/17The Stone Pony - Asbury Park

Just Another "Incredible" Night from Ian Hunter ! Great set list, both old and new. I'm thinking that this is my 17th IH show, and there's at least one more at City Winery. Hopefully more ! The Rant Band is great ! Ian Hunter is truly an icon, and an inspiration. I hope that I'm still rockin' like IH at that age (not to mention look like that, but I doubt I will). Go if you get the chance !!

I wanna be this energetic when I'm 77

    by MJ321 on 5/16/17Potawatomi Hotel & Casino/Northern Lights Theater/Event Center - Milwaukee

The first couple songs didn't quite come together - and then, WHAM. Ian's voice kicked in, the band was tight and natural, and the show never stopped, despite the lead guitarist having equipment issues. Nice mix of new and legendary material, slow stuff and high-energy rockers. Everyone left with huge smiles. This was my first time at this venue - I'll be back. Great sight lines, great sound, easygoing staff that didn't freak out at gray-haired people dancing like high schoolers.

    Ian Hunter Appears Ageless

by Spikelavendar on 11/11/14Variety Playhouse - Atlanta

For each year he spends performing with the Rant Band, Ian Hunter seems to shed a year from his own age. Looking fit and ready to tussle at 75, Hunter stalked the Variety Playhouse Stage with his tight-knit top-notch band, commanding material from his own career and his days with Mott the Hoople. He played obscurities such as "Something to Believe In," "Teacher," and "Now Is The Time," and hits "All the Way From Memphis," "Sweet Jane," "Once Bitten Twice Shy," "Just Another Night," and "All The Young Dudes." He reinvigorated "Bastard" and "Standing In My My Light," and dished out a handful of tracks from his latest release, "When I'm President." The band is beyond tight with Mr. Hunter at the helm. His current tour embraces the U.S., the U.K., Europe and Japan. Long Live Ian Hunter!

    Everything I exprected and more.......

by fbodell on 11/10/14Variety Playhouse - Atlanta

What a fantastic show! If you are a fan of Ian's in any form I would highly recommend that you attend this show. As a fan of Mott and Ian's solo career throught the mid-80's I wasn't exactly sure what to expect. I hadn't kept up with Ian's catalog but did google him to find he had some highly thought of releases including his last one in 2012. I thought thast could be good or bad, if it was so well recieved he might play the whole darn thing and I wouldn't know much of the show. PERISH THE THOUGHT! This show flat out rocked and was well over two hours. Ian was in great voice and high energy and his Rant Band is wonderful. Even the songs that I didn't know (and there weren't that many) were very good and didn't stop the show at all. I took a friend with me (ok...dragged a friend with me) and he came away very impressed and happy he went, said it was one of the best shows he had seen in a while. ROCK ON IAN HUNTER!!!!

    Ian still rocks!

by forestcitydave on 11/10/14Variety Playhouse - Atlanta

The Variety Playhouse is an excellant venue. I have waited a very long time to see Ian. I was actually a little nervous. I really wanted the "welcome to the club" experience and this show came very close. Ian was great. I took my 19 year old son to see what a really rock n roll show was like.WOW! I can't wait for him to come the Atlanta again.

Ian Hunter and the Rant Band memorable performance

    Proper classic British rock performer

    by XR628 on 11/8/14Variety Playhouse - Atlanta

Ian Hunter still sounds great. Chances to see a real first rate classic British rock performer are increasingly rare. His set list was a disapointment. Some of his best material was not performed and some of the songs seemed unfamiliar and certainly not his best work. Overall I enjoyed the show and would attend again.

    Energy to spare

by BadReputation on 10/6/13Potawatomi Casino/Northern Lights Theater/Expo Center - Milwaukee

Ian Hunter makes no concessions to his years in this high-energy show. He is slim, energetic, and in great voice. If you haven't seen him before, or if you haven't seen him in a long time, you'll enjoy this.

    Ian Hunter stills ROCKS

by Navybarber on 10/6/13Potawatomi Casino/Northern Lights Theater/Expo Center - Milwaukee

The show was fantastic. Seating at the Potowatomi Casino can't be beat. However walking thru the smoke filled casino is pretty gross. Ian Hunters band was excellent. Each musician was strong in their own right and he gave them a chance to showcase their talents. He played favorite old songs and new cuts from his new CD, which we bought. Overall a really good show and we won't hesitate to see him again if we get the chance.

    All American Alien Boy!

by pillyp on 10/6/13Potawatomi Casino/Northern Lights Theater/Expo Center - Milwaukee

Ian Hunter continues to prove himself as a timeless Rockers. He was as good Thursday night at 74 years of age as he was 10 years ago at 64 years of age. His voice is strong and clear, he is filled with energy, and he offered a wonderful mix of tunes from his catalog of hits. Jumping from Rockers to ballads and back to rockers, the entire night was trip down memory lane circa 1972 all the way up to his latest excellent album. This guy has a wonderful body of work. Whether it be The golden Age of Rock n Roll, Once Bitten Twice Shy, Roll Away the Stone, All American Alien Boy, All the Way From Memphis. Dead Man Walking, or his Biggest hit penned by his buddy David Bowie "All the Young Dudes"....you will again and again be overjoyed that you bought your ticket to this event. The man has NOT lost a step. He is a true Rocker, a true entertainer. I look forward to the next time I sit in his audience!

    Top Five On My Resume

by HoopleFan on 10/6/13Potawatomi Casino/Northern Lights Theater/Expo Center - Milwaukee

I have been a fan of Ian Hunter/Mott The Hoople for over 30 years and this concert was truly special. The playlist was perfectly balanced covering a chronology of Hunter material to include a variety of Hoople vintage cuts. Ian Hunter always has and continues to be a charismatic front man and he is showing no signs of slowing down. He was energized and passionate in his performance. The only thing above my appreciation for his music is "respect"!!!

Ian Hunter at the El Rey

by Kirk1959 on 2/6/13El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

Ian Hunter is one of my favorite artists, and I'm always anxious to see him when he comes to the west coast. With a new CD out, he naturally chose to focus on newer material which many in the crowd seemed unfamiliar with. Naturally, the crowd came alive when he dipped into the Mott the Hoople archive. I was particularly pleased with his choice of the "The Moon Upstairs," which is probably the heaviest song in the Mott the Hoople catalog. His band, as always, was excellent. He has changed backing musicians a lot over the years, but they always come with the necessary chops, and he leads them like a maestro. I was very happy that there was no opening band. The El Rey has a large, open floor with no seating that would allow you to see the show. An Ian Hunter crowed is usually a median age of 50+. That's a lot of standing for the age group. Ian would be wise to book future shows in a hall with seating.
