About

An “out-of-body experience for ‘Lucy’ fans” according to Showbiz Chicago, I LOVE LUCY® LIVE ON STAGE takes audiences back to 1952 as members of the Desilu Playhouse studio audience where they await the filming of two hilarious and oh-so-familiar I LOVE LUCY® episodes, “The Benefit” and “Lucy Has Her Eyes Examined.”

A charming host entertains and enlightens the crowd to the behind-the-scenes filming process of a brand new thing called “television,” the Crystaltone Singers perform advertising jingles in perfect 50s style harmony and the sidesplitting antics of America’s favorite foursome – Lucy, Ricky, Fred and Ethel – are presented live on stage and in color for the very first time! It’s a one-of-a-kind theatrical experience TV Guide’s William Keck calls “the most entertaining stage production I’ve seen in years – including Broadway!”

If I had paid more than $25...

The show was mildly entertaining and mildly amusing. The time would have been better spent watching"I Love Lucy" on TV

    Not much to Love

by Lovetoseeplays123 on 9/16/12Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

The interaction between Lucy and Desi was poor at best. Watching the play, I would have to say that the character of Desi certainly was believable and he was entertaining. However, the woman who played Lucy was not. She did not have the energy, nor the voice, that would allow you to believe that she was Lucy. Watching her trying to pull off that character, was like watching someone scratch a chalkboard with their nails. It was painful!.

what are they trying to do?

by eddyjoe on 9/15/12Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

great actors and musicians. but why? no real story line, and trying to recreate a TV filming as a stage production is too weird. What would have made complete sense is if they had black and white TVs around so we could see what it looked like on the TV screen. Especially the commercials.

    I Love Lucy was Great!

by SheBeast on 9/15/12Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

"I Love Lucy" was very enjoyable and it brought back so many memories from yester year! Sirena Irwin (Lucy) & Bill Mendicta (Ricky) were cast perfectly - they acted and felt like the real thing...loved them!!! The Band was great and would have liked to see them play even more. My only complaint would be that the theatre temperature was unG-dly hot and it was VERY uncomfortable for everyone in the theatre. Not sure how the cast was able to perform and function being as warm as it was.

I really do LOVE I Love Lucy!

by CS1977 on 9/15/12Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

My all time favorite show made into a play. I thought it was very well done, quite cute. I liked how they made us in the audience, the actual studio audience of the shows taping. The cute lady in the cherry dress sitting in the audience with us was funny. The only thing I found to be a little off was Lucy's voice....didn't really sound like her. But all in all it was a great show!

Fun show and very well done. Characters nailed original cast in appearance and characterization. Step back in time to old style live commercials was fun. Great fun.
