About

An “out-of-body experience for ‘Lucy’ fans” according to Showbiz Chicago, I LOVE LUCY® LIVE ON STAGE takes audiences back to 1952 as members of the Desilu Playhouse studio audience where they await the filming of two hilarious and oh-so-familiar I LOVE LUCY® episodes, “The Benefit” and “Lucy Has Her Eyes Examined.”

A charming host entertains and enlightens the crowd to the behind-the-scenes filming process of a brand new thing called “television,” the Crystaltone Singers perform advertising jingles in perfect 50s style harmony and the sidesplitting antics of America’s favorite foursome – Lucy, Ricky, Fred and Ethel – are presented live on stage and in color for the very first time! It’s a one-of-a-kind theatrical experience TV Guide’s William Keck calls “the most entertaining stage production I’ve seen in years – including Broadway!”

The I Love Lucy play was unforgettable. It brought back so many childhood memories of sitting with my parents watching the show on our black and white TV. The world outside stood still while we watched I LOVE LUCY. Thank you

    A fun time of nostalgia

by Katbow on 12/15/14Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

We enjoyed the play and the way it took you back in time through audience participation and old commercials. It got in all the classic phrases and Lucy expressions we remember well. The actors did an excellent job with the voices, speech and body language of the characters. I would recommend you attend.

    flashback to lucy

by amandasue21 on 12/14/14Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

I loved that it felt like we were actually the audience during a live taping. I liked how they did commercials from that time period between recordings. I enjoyed how they used the exact lines from the real episodes. You could tell they studied the body language of Ricky and Lucy. I would watch it again and again. Great way to bring the legends alive.

    Disappointing Performance.

Not worth the money if you are an avid Lucy fan. The acting was horrible, there were tons of commercials and they added things that didn't happen in the real "I Love Lucy" episodes. You're better off watching "I Love Lucy" on Youtube and best of all it's FREE!

The actors did a great job at voice recognition and sounded exaclty like lucy and desi. It was a pure enjoyment sitting in the audience. The set was spot on.

    I still Love Lucy

by nancysueinchicago on 12/14/14Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

Being in a theater in a theater was wonderful. Enjoyed the interactivity, and the memories of Monday nights long past came back. What a wonderful evening's entertainment. The actors were terrific, especially the Bill Frawley and Vivian Vance Characters. And the handsome, talented Ricky was fabulous. Loved the announcer and the talent in the chorus, they were grand. Everything old is new again!

    I LOVED Lucy Live

by Laurroy on 12/13/14Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

The cast was unbelievable. I was laughing and having the best time ever. The actress that played Lucille Ball was spot on from her laugh to her off key singing. I just loved every moment of it. I wish they did two more episodes. I could watch this play over and over!

    I Love Lucy

by 66agogo on 12/13/14Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

I really didn't love Lucy. I came away disappointed. I'm glad i didn't pay full price, or I would have really been super disappointed. a red wig does not make you LUCY! I thought the show was flat. I guess she was the best for a reason. You better be really good to take on an iconic show like ''I Love Lucy'', this cast wasn't. None of the major players really hit the mark. The choice for episodes to recreate were not the best, funniest shows. If you really love Lucy, you'll probably be disappointed. If you don't, you may enjoy the show.

by LarryDiane on 12/13/14Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

I Love Lucy was a very funny throw back experience. Great experience and memories. We laughed through out the show. We were talking about it all night afterwards. The characterization of Desi was amazing.

I bought the tickets for my wife as a gift for her birthday. We both really enjoyed the show. It was a fantastic performance. The character portrale was very accurate and the story line was just perfect for this performance. The commercials and songs were great.

    Mindless Show

by Berthajoy on 12/13/14Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

Silly stuff--don't bother. Amusing for about 5 minutes--then just stupid. Reminds you of what a great comedienne Lucy was to carry this nonsense off!

Go see I Love Lucy NOW!

by actionchik on 12/12/14Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

The show was amazing. We saw it at the Bank of America Theater in Chicago. Our seats were upgraded to Dress Circle from balcony and we could see 95% of the show (some of the side scenes weren't in our view. But the actual show was way better than I expected. From our seats, the actress playing lucy looked just like her and she sounded pretty close too. It was as though we were in the studio audience while they were filming 2 episodes so in between scenes there were live commercials and even audience participation. I went home and watched the episodes they showed and they were spot on! Overall well worth my time and money.

    I Love Lucy

by Hachiki on 4/13/13Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

First of all, the Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place was much smaller and more intimate than I expected, so if you get seats even in the back you are still quite close to the stage. We were in the first row and that was a little too close. The play was good; it was a reenactment of 2 I Love Lucy episodes. They had it set up like you were at an actual taping back in the 50's with live commercials in between takes, so that made it more interesting than just reenactments. The MC did a great job of keeping the audience involved. You can take food and beverages in the theater so that was nice. The lead actors did a good job of capturing Ricky and Lucy's mannerisms for the most part. Again, there really isn't a bad seat in the house. If I ever go back there again I think I would prefer a seat in the back because I think it would give you a better perspective than being right on top of everything looking up at the actors.
