About Huntsville Havoc
Huntsville Havoc at the Von Braun Center
The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) Huntsville Havoc are one of the most successful teams in the history of the league. They play their games at the Von Braun Center Arena in bustling downtown Huntsville, Alabama, adjacent to Big Spring Park and right off of the historic square. Downtown Huntsville is a haven for craft beer, coffee, dining and the arts, and a stroll through the square is a great way to start or end your Huntsville Havoc experience. Once inside the renovated Von Braun Center, championship hockey awaits you, with Coach Glenn Detulleo’s Havoc team led by players like top-scoring center Rob Darrar, captain Tyler Piacentini and promising right winger Isaac Johnson. Tickets for games are broken down into Bronze, Silver and Gold tiers, with the latter being just beyond the glass. Huntsville Havoc theme nights include a Star Wars Night, a Dog Race weekend, a St. Patrick’s Day celebration and two Alabama BBQ Nights. With well-attended games, the Havoc can boast the best average attendance in the SPHL, and that number has only gone up as the Havoc continue to raise the William B. Coffey trophy.
Huntsville Havoc Background
Entering the league in the 2004-05 season, the Huntsville Havoc are a fixture in the SPHL playoffs. The team won their first President’s Cup in 2010. And in 2018, the Havoc famously became the first fourth-seeded squad to ever win the title. They wasted no time following it up with another, when they swept the Birmingham Bulls in the finals for their second consecutive title in 2019.
The Havoc’s home rink is in the Von Braun Center, a multipurpose facility for sporting events and performing arts in downtown Huntsville. Along with the arena, the complex also features a playhouse, exhibit halls, and a concert venue that is home to the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra and once famously hosted a five-show run by Elvis Presley.
This was my first ever hockey game and it was AWESOME....... I AM HOOKED!!!
My friend Michele went with me, and it was her first time at a hockey game. The Havoc won, so I guess she brings luck...
Finally, the Havoc we all want to see. Great attack, taking control of the game, good defense.... Great!
BORING game. Dead crowd. The 4-5 year olds playing hockey after the 1st period was more entertaining. Def wasnt a good first impression on the friends I brought with me.
Great family fun for the cost also this was my wifes first time watching a hockey game and she loved it...
Havoc Hockey should be experienced by everyone on the planet.
Tickets said behind visitor bench but ended up behind the home bench. Not what I wanted
My son and I attended the game Friday night and loved it! We had really good seats with a great view. Fun night for the both of us.
What an awesome playoff atmosphere!! I took my two boys for their second Havoc game. They were thrilled when the Havoc pulled it out in OT.
Had a great time at the game. I love the ease of purchasing tickets online and immediately printing.
I can't remember watching Havoc playing so well. They were so committed to win, and they got it ! Simply great
This was my first hockey game, but it will NOT be my last. The Ice Flyers were awesome, nothing like a great fight on ice;)
Good time for family. Family fun activity. Just watch out for the pucks.
They WON!!! Good Job GUYS!! Great EFFORT!! Lots of excitement all throughout the game - love the special events at the breaks.
Was a good game, to bad the HAVOC lost. Fun to watch anyways.
Despite the Havoc losing to the Riverkings, it was an awesome time! My husband, father, and I had seats really close to the ice! You could feel the cold air from the ice; and the changes to the VBC, all of it added to the ambiance and sense of nostalgia we 3 experienced that night! We will be going back again!
By far the best event I've ever been to. I will be back with more people with me. So much fun. The people were so friendly too. Wish we could of pull this out to win, but you cant win them all. This has opened my eyes to the the sport all around. I LOVE THE HAVOC!!!
This game was an exhibition in finesse skating. Missing was the action. There were no exciting smackdowns, few hard blocks, no fights. I coulda watched figure skating. The only excitement was overtime.
Havocs offered free jersey night to the first 1,500 kids under 12, but did not state where that line was to be staged, so we got in the wrong line and entered the VBC, only to be told to go out and stand in the longer line hidden inside the VBC....we got his jersy, but poorly communicated by Ownership. The game itself was great, started off bad, but the Havoc never gave up and won in OT....great.
I am so glad that this was the event I decided to celebrate our sons 19th birthday. It was our first ever hockey game for the entire family! Wow! We loved every minute of it. What a true blessing & memory as a Mom to glance over at my son having such a great time. We will be back!! : )
