About Huntsville Havoc
Huntsville Havoc at the Von Braun Center
The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) Huntsville Havoc are one of the most successful teams in the history of the league. They play their games at the Von Braun Center Arena in bustling downtown Huntsville, Alabama, adjacent to Big Spring Park and right off of the historic square. Downtown Huntsville is a haven for craft beer, coffee, dining and the arts, and a stroll through the square is a great way to start or end your Huntsville Havoc experience. Once inside the renovated Von Braun Center, championship hockey awaits you, with Coach Glenn Detulleo’s Havoc team led by players like top-scoring center Rob Darrar, captain Tyler Piacentini and promising right winger Isaac Johnson. Tickets for games are broken down into Bronze, Silver and Gold tiers, with the latter being just beyond the glass. Huntsville Havoc theme nights include a Star Wars Night, a Dog Race weekend, a St. Patrick’s Day celebration and two Alabama BBQ Nights. With well-attended games, the Havoc can boast the best average attendance in the SPHL, and that number has only gone up as the Havoc continue to raise the William B. Coffey trophy.
Huntsville Havoc Background
Entering the league in the 2004-05 season, the Huntsville Havoc are a fixture in the SPHL playoffs. The team won their first President’s Cup in 2010. And in 2018, the Havoc famously became the first fourth-seeded squad to ever win the title. They wasted no time following it up with another, when they swept the Birmingham Bulls in the finals for their second consecutive title in 2019.
The Havoc’s home rink is in the Von Braun Center, a multipurpose facility for sporting events and performing arts in downtown Huntsville. Along with the arena, the complex also features a playhouse, exhibit halls, and a concert venue that is home to the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra and once famously hosted a five-show run by Elvis Presley.
Enjoyed a great game. The only bad thing is the hamburgers were the worst I have ever ate.
Fun family evening, thought the mascots did an awesome job seeing everyone and posing for pictures. Q: if you were thrown a shirt, could we have traded it in for a different size?
This was our first trip to see a Hockey game. There are no bad seats in the arena. Everyone was very nice. We throughly enjoyed our visit and will be going back again.
They lack the skill this year and wouldnt see them again until they make some roster changes. So next time i see them i will be hesitant
Great game!! Would and will go back and watch them more often.
The facility is one of the nicest arenas I've been too (especially out of the smaller arenas I have been to). The fan experience for adults and kids is great. Free T-shirts are thrown into the crowd and the mascots even run around the circumference of the upper bowl holding the team flag while all the kids who wish to do so run behind them cheering. Great hockey and great fan experience/involvement.
The seats were great and the price of the tickets was unbeatable. If you like Hocky, or just want a night out to do something different, check out the Havoc. The VBC has a great hocky rink, and it is a fun night out. Parking is easy as well.
Great win for the home team! We did have a brat of a kid sitting behind us and two boys chating beside us like two teenage girls.
We lost, and there were several other events going on at the VBC which made it a little crowded for parking.
Great game, Took a date that had never been to a hockey game before, she had a lot of fun. Very fun and memorable game and event for both of us.
Huntsville Havoc Playoff was fun and interesting to watch with my family.
A W E S O M E ! ! ! ! ! Very good and enjoyable evening.
Great hockey game. Wonderful arena. Great people. Drove 4 hours to watch my team play in Huntsville. Huntsville also has many different attractions beside the Von Braun Center. Park next to VBC is very beautiful.
I hadn't been to a hockey game in a very long time. I enjoyed the game very much and the venue was very nice.
The game was exciting. My favorite parts as always are the fights. I had to relocate from my original seat, as I am very large and have torn ligaments in my knees on both legs. Unfortunately, this required that I get handicapped seating as the seats are so small in the normal section that I was unable to sit in them due to my girth and leg length.
my husband, brother, and I. It was our first time and we loved it. it was action packed, plenty of food and drink. we had great seats could see everything. the mascot were so funny. But most of all the Havocs were incredible .will be going again and taking more family alone.
Good hockey and a few fights, thats what we wanted and thats what we got.
If you have never been take the time and go watch a game.
Awesome atmosphere, lots of fun! Our seats were behind the penalty box and announcer box obstructed the view of the other goal. Kinda feel we payed too much for those seats. Feels like we watched half a game. : (. Sound was good, but there were no replays or explanations on the plays? Just music and a few words from the mc. Still fun.
Huntsville Havoc is an awesome team. The game was a great event to attend for family fun.
