How To Destroy Angels = Speechless!

by ThatCrazyBeat on 5/2/13The Fillmore Silver Spring - Silver Spring

You must see this show. Truly special. Best visuals I've ever seen. More intimate than any NIN show. 5 friends creating together on stage.

The best visual and musical show I've seen!!!!!

by Eddie1984 on 5/1/13Apollo Theater - New York

Simply put, the best show I've seen. Besides the fact that their music is insanely good, the visual effects made the whole experience unforgettable. I will pay to see them again. I recommend to get closer seats to properly see the effects. Well done HTDA, you are the best band of the decade!

HTDA_ is a stellar audiovisual experience

by InversePhase on 5/1/13Apollo Theater - New York

How To Destroy Angels, or HTDA_, is a reasonably new act consisting of Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor, his wife Mariqueen on lead vocals, co-conspirator Atticus Ross (originally working with Trent on The Social Network OST) and graphic designer/art/visuals director Rob Sheridan. Joined with them for this tour was Trent's close friend and NIN collaborator/performer Alessandro Cortini. A video was released that documents HTDA_'s collaboration, where each track starts out differently and each member of the band brings something unique to each track. This results in an interesting blend of sounds that varies from song to song but contributes to a great overall sound. You can hear where each band member is shining through at various points throughout the album and live show. Added as a live element is a very awesome visual display that places the band between a video display in the rear and translucent curtains that are projected onto/through in the front, the idea being that the band is a sort of "art installation". At certain points throughout the show the curtains move and allow you to get different views of the performers. There is appropriate glitch art and incredible lighting to match the mood of the show. The band performance was absolutely stellar. Many fans came to the show not knowing (or wanting to know) what to expect and be surprised. What we ended up with was NOT NIN. It's important for people attending this show to know it was not supposed to be NIN, either. Sure, you can hear Trent's musical influence shine through this, but there's more to it than that. Rob Sheridan live-controls in-sync music visuals that correspond with each of the musicians on stage and everyone gets a piece of the spotlight. Mariqueen's voice compliments the music extremely well. The tour is over, but there are a few HTDA shows later in the year, and I would highly recommend checking them out then or if/when they tour again. It's different, but different is good!

    WOW

by JorYFer on 5/1/13Apollo Theater - New York

This was not a show. It was an experience. Incredible, incredible, incredible. It blew my mind away. Reznor and co. made it again. I came all the way from Argentina to see the show and it was totally worth it.

Brilliant show of light and sound

by Pheny on 4/30/13Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort - Las Vegas

I love the concepts behind both the music and the show envisioned by the members of this group. The seats were good for the price though I could have done with some drinks which didn't cost almost as much as the tickets.

Best visual show I've ever seen!

by zachyD on 4/30/13Apollo Theatre - Harlem, New York

I have not read any other reviews yet but the entire experience was just fantastic! The music, singing, lights, and visual displays were more than I ever imagined, and I had seen them on HDTA's website! I was pumped for Trent and his friends but EVERYTHING was just so perfectly done. My wife was not excited but after the show she was quick to talk about how over the top the entire performance was. This was the best visual show I've ever seen and Trent and his wife's vocals were 5 stars and then some!

This show is ok. Very short set, no more than 1.5 hours.

    Good...but not NIN

by GoldenRets on 4/29/13House of Blues Boston - Boston

I knew very well what I was going to see, but I had a small bit of hope that maybe the group would break into a NIN song or two. But - no. They held steadfastly to the HDA playlist. Regardless, it was great to see Atticus Ross again and to hear Trent's voice. As in the NIN days, they used awesome lighting effects. It makes me realize how truly great the final NIN concerts were (which I did know at the time). I'm glad I was there.

    Turn on the bright lights!

by Atmospheric on 4/21/13The Fox Theater - Pomona - Pomona

One of the most memorable, beautifully designed sets I've ever had the pleasure to attend. Fans of Trent Reznor and NIN flocked to the show (myself included) but once the show started, I was ecstatic to see that we were in for a treat. The music and the sound quality were definitely top-notch (we wouldn't have expected anything less) but oh boy, those lights and projections really turned it into a spectacular event. I would've loved to have been able to see them at Coachella (they went all out from the YouTube vids Ive seen) but this intimate setting really suited the mood of their sound.

HDA @ The Pearl (Las Vegas)

by BJH80 on 4/16/13Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort - Las Vegas

I was a little disappointed to see the theatre was at about 60% capacity as a legend was preparing to take to the stage in such an intimate venue. From what I could tell this was their 3rd live show and a show it was indeed. One thing Trent Reznor is good at is reinventing his live act whether with HDA or NIN; the visuals and light show were unlike anything I've ever seen. The beaded panels that the band played behind ( about half the show) along with the projections/colors etc were a perfect compliment to the ambient electronic noise the band produced. Almost was like watching a modern version of Kraftwerk with a female lead singer . . . what a sight, both the band and girl. I won't hesitate to see HDA live again, just an awesome show and a great sound.

    How to Destroy Angels

by LadySolange on 4/15/13Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort - Las Vegas

Although the opening band (DIIV) was one of the worst I have seen. How to Destroy Angels was amazing and beyond my expectations. They were breath-taking not only in their musical prowess but also their visual display was something I had not witness before in my history of 50+ concerts I have attended.

HTDA will destroy all other concerts for you

by dark9angel on 4/15/13Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort - Las Vegas

How To Destroy Angels doesn't just get on stage and sing, it's a production and a light show that will blow your mind! Whether you're a fan of their music or not (I am a fan), anyone could appreciate the show itself. Amazing!
