Houndmouth @ Port City exceeded expectations!

by dambo on 9/24/15Port City Music Hall - Portland

First, I was surprised that Houndmouth, at the peak of their career, performed at a relatively small venue in Portland, ME. Next. the ticket price was, to say the least, a terrific value. Houndmouth themselves was equally impressed at the fan reception on a Monday night, in a very small market. The performance was spot on. The sound was clear, especially for the vocals. And one thing that Houndmouth is famous for is their amazing harmonizing. This group has heavy influences from groups such as The Band, Grateful Dead and Little Feat. Yea, that good. This is a must-see show. They will be performing in large venues for much higher prices soon. I purchased their newest CD, and can't stop playing it. But the live performance had a high energy level which can't be matched in a studio. Hint: How about a concert DVD?

I had never been to Port City or seen Houndmouth. Houndmouth is full of energy and inclusive of their crowd. Port City is beautiful. I will be seeing more shows there in the future.

Probably the best show I've seen live. Seen them at bonnaroo earlier in the year and it was just as good if not better. Easily one of my favorite bands

    See This Band

by matthewgroehl on 9/22/15Royale Boston - Boston

Houndmouth is an amazing live band. They bring the joy and excitement of a local band playing in a bar with their friends while also being four of the most talented young musicians working today. The setlist was amazing, the crowd interaction could only be rivaled by Deer Tick, and the opening act (Twin Limb) was a fantastic surprise. If you blink, you could easily miss the small word "Royale" on the green awning outside of the venue, but when you walk in, you ascend a decadent staircase that gives the impression of a large victorian theater. The performance space is reminiscent of the House of Blues on a smaller scale. There a multiple bars and places to sit. Don't miss Houndmouth and don't miss a show at Royale if you like the performer.

Great show by a talented group!

by buckeye88fan on 5/12/15Newport Music Hall - Columbus

I had been wanting to see Houndmouth for a couple of years now and was not disappointed! After taking the stage in caps and gowns in honor of Ohio State's graduation going on across the street, they started a set that was high energy and electric! Seeing the show allowed the talent of all members to be showcased as everyone took a turn singing lead and playing other instruments. Excellent show!

See 'em before they're too big!!

by Anonymous on 5/12/15Newport Music Hall - Columbus

Great voices - everybody sings, great musicians, great songs, great showmen (and woman). What can you say? They blew the place away. Two of my party were not familiar with them at all and came away thrilled.

I'm a fan of the band but was so happy with how great of a show they put on! They were having such a good time on stage and that reflected in their performance and the crowd enthusiasm. I will see them ever chance I get!

    Houndmouth...Great surprise!!

by 390fit on 3/9/15U.S. Cellular Stage at the Bijou Theatre - Knoxville

We were celebrating my husband's birthday in Knoxville and he is a huge live music lover. Checked out the theaters in town and watched Houndmouth video. Sounded good on video but live performance was a great surprise. Good sound, great vocal harmonizing and a fun atmosphere. Will definitely keep an eye out for a stop near our hometown Chicago. Look forward to an outdoor venue. They would be so amazing!!!!

Great Stage Presence - very entertaining

by AlanThunderHead on 3/9/15U.S. Cellular Stage at the Bijou Theatre - Knoxville

This band has a great stage presence and is very entertaining. They have an appreciation for not playing too loud. Solid vocals and vocal harmony. Good lead guitar and solid rhythm section. Clever lyrics and not too dark. OK for old people (I'm 60).

Great Band- sick traffic to venue

by ChefMichael57 on 6/25/14THE BROOKLYN BOWL - NYC

I'm always looking for venues outside of NYC or Philly. Any clubs in the VILLAGE are a problem with traffic but if the club is in the Williamsburg section of BROOKLYN then it's a double dose of mind numbing traffic. So- getting to the BROOKLYN BOWL for this show was a nightmare. But even if you live in the city and take the subway or cab the club is still mediocre. Navy seals training is required to get to the bar for a beer at this sold out event. Once there I found out that they have no bottled water for my date- whaaaaaaaat! No bottled water in 2014! The sound was ok- nothing great! Caught the last song from the openers THE DISTRICTS. As usual I did my homework in preparation for the show and I was looking forward to seeing this young band barely out of High School. ROB GROTE leads this band that is on my TOP 30 NEW BANDS FOR 2014 But- I was there for HOUNDMOUTH and they were excellent playing songs off of their great debut album FROM THE HILLS BELOW THE CITY. The band is co- fronted by the super cute KATIE TOUPIN and guitar wizard MATT MYERS. KATIE has learned to work her sexiness in a classy cutesy way which adds to the bands stage presence. But she is also a great singer bringing great harmony and some excellent lead vocals to the table. also- I was big time impressed with the guitar work of MATT MYERS- the dude could play! These two produce great vocal harmonies as well. HOUNDMOUTH came in 17th on my TOP 30 NEW BANDS OF 2013.

by Newbloodynickname on 3/18/14Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

Their live show makes the album worse to listen to. They were that good live.
