HOT CHIP IN CONCERT:
Hot Chip lights up the dance floor every time they take the stage to deliver their inventive, synthesizer-driven take on electronic pop. In addition to traditional instruments like guitar, bass, and drums, this British septet incorporates a bevy of synths, drum machines, and unexpected samples to produce their infectious grooves in concert. The resulting sound is monumentally funky, endearingly quirky, and impossible to deny. Dance floor anthems like “Don’t Deny Your Heart”, “How Do You Do It?”, and “Burning Up” are guaranteed to have you shaking your booty and breaking a sweat. Hot Chip is taking their discotheque-meets-art-gallery vibe on tour to promote their 2015 album Why Make Sense?, promising ticket buyers a freaky dance party they won’t be able to resist.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Alexis Taylor (lead vocals/guitar/synths) and Joe Goddard (vocals/synths/percussion) founded Hot Chip while attending Cambridge University in 2000. By the time of their 2004 full-length debut Coming on Strong, the duo had added Owen Clark (guitar/bass/synths), Al Doyle (guitar/synths/percussion), and Felix Martin (drum machines/percussion) to their live performances. The new members contributed to the band’s 2008 album Made in the Dark, which featured popular singles like “Shake a Fist” and heralded a new echelon of success for the group. Hot Chip added Rob Smoughton (backing vocals/bass/guitar/percussion) and Sarah Jones (drums) to round out their performing lineup, with both becoming official members shortly thereafter. The band maintains a rigorous touring and recording schedule, and while they might look like they’re playing musical chairs as they trade instruments on stage, they maintain a lively and cohesive sound that has thrilled audiences around the world.

I was really amazed with the performance of Hot Chip. The concert was a very pleasant experience.
The music made me dance like there was no tomorrow. It was also a really great venue (in a really strange area of San Diego). This Hot Chip show is definitely one of my top 10 shows or all time.
Hot Chip always do a fun show. Everyone was dancing and having fun. I love these guys.
One of my favorite bands to see live. I'd not seen them in over a decade, so bought two tickets to see them this tour--one for the City of Trees Festival where they performed and the other for their Oakland show. I love the venue, the staff there is amazing, it is so beautiful and ornate within and it makes the perfect setting for the amazing dancing party that occurs at a Hot Chip show. If they play your city, even if they're billed at a festival and not an indoor venue, check them out, they do not disappoint!
This was my second time catching Hot Chip, the first being at Outside Lands Music Festival earlier in the year. It was so much fun to see them perform again. They rocked the house and had everyone dancing like fools. It was great. Sarah Jones was phenomenal on drums.
Seriously one of the funnest shows I've ever been to...and I've been to a lot of live shows. I did not stop dancing the entire night. I left the venue a sweaty, exhausted mess, but was so very happy! I love Hot Chip and will see them every single time they play in my area. You really should too.
The concert was about an hour and a half and high energy the whole time. Loved it!
They rocked, keeping the energy up and transitioning from song to song. Very up beat, danceable, killer show.
Excellent energy, flow from song to song. Good mix of albums covered in setlist. Amazing Bruce Springsteen cover.
Roseland is a dump. The beer was skanked. Band came on really late, especially for a Tuesday. Band was great, played all the best but no encore. I feel jipped without an encore.
The opening acts were fine. The DJ set was a little too long but that's what I expected. The actual show was amazing. The venue was great. There seemed to be a lot of room and the bathroom was large enough and efficient to handle the crowd.
Acoustics were not great. They didn't play any older songs which was a bummer.
Amazing show, superb musicians but they should stay playing a DJ Set... The atmosphere was ready to start partying...
They rushed through the show. Drinks were overpriced.
I have seen hot chip 5 times and every time it the best show and best experience. This was almost surreally bad. The sound was terrible at Roseland (I had forgotten just how bad), and the setlist was nearly perverse. How can you not play your most popular track off your new album when you are only playing one night in the city. Thoroughly disappointed in this evening.
Hot Chip is one of those bands. Funky, driving and just downright awesome. I've loved them since their first album and this new tour didnt disappoint. The crowd responded by dancing and having a great time. DO NOT MISS THEM!!!!! HOB is a great venue for this tour and everyone from the staff to its patrons made it a incredible night. Well done!!!
Fantastic dance party! Their set was a little short (a little over an hour), but it was perfect for a Monday night.
The set was 60 minutes and felt like it ended right when they were getting into it. Definitely the shortest concert I've ever been to. When you buy tickets in advance, especially at $40, you expect a great show. This wasn't it.
Great show, good vibe. The band definitely delivered ... playing old and new tunes. Nice big dance party and friendly people. Refreshing to get my groove on with original tunes.
