Anyone who follows the Winter Olympics knows every -- EVERY -- participant in this Kaleidoscope extravaganza. It was magnificent, powerfully emotional, and far beyond simple entertainment.
I took my Mom to this "show" for her Christmas gift as she's visiting from FL. We were extremely disappointed to find out it was being taped for tv. This was not disclosed before ticket purchase. The tv taping caused several delays, a 45-minute late beginning, and prolongation of the show to past 11pm (it was scheduled to begin at 7:30). The skaters and musicians/singers were 5-star, but their performances were negated by delays, delays, delays. It wasn't a show for the live audience. Several people left before and after intermission (also scheduled for 20 minutes but ran 40). I'm sure it will look great on tv when they edit out 90+ minutes of dead time and retakes. Next time I'll just watch it on tv.
My wife and I really enjoyed the ice skating. Seeing how a production is taped for TV was very interesting. I thought Dorthy and Scott were cute how they reacted to the problems of taping a live show. Thanks for the extra show after the orginal show was over. We stayed till the lights went out. Looking forward to seeing the show again on TV.
I WAS NEVER MORE DISAPPOINTED WITH THE SO CALLED SHOW - I PAID MONEY TO TAKE AN 83 YEAR OLD TO SEE A CHRISTMAS SHOW AND IT BECAME THE MOST BORING THING I EVER SEEN. wE WERE NOT TOLD THAT IT WAS A FILMING OF A TV SHOW - ONLY SAW 3 SKATERS BETWEEN 8 AND 9 THEN THEY TAKE A 20 MINUTE BREAK. RETAKES AFTER RETAKES OF SCOTT AND DOROTHY REVIEWS - IT WAS SO UPSETTING TO ME. AND IF I COULD GET MY MONEY BACK - I WOULD REQUEST IT.'IF YOU ARE GOING TO ADVERTISE A SHOW LET IT BE A SHOW NOT A STUPID FILMING.
Did not know it would be televised. We live 80 miles from venue. arrived home much later than anticipated. Had plans for an early start the next morning which did not happen. Also did not appreciate having to stand a couple of times to see the skating as the TV crew wanted. My husband has bad hips and unless we stood we couldn't see anything.
It ws alot of fun to see the behind the scenes work that goes into the production of the show. Scott and Dorothy are amazing as usual and ALL the skaters were so fun!!! Johnny Wier was AMAZING with his performance to Lady Gaga's Bad Romance!!! AWESOME Johnny and he thanked the audience and was just so genuine!!! LOVE HIM!!! Kurt Browning, Paul Wylie, Sasha Cohen, Sarah Hughes, Kimmie Meissner, Joannie Rochette, Rena Inoue & John Baldwin, Surya Bonaly - She did her back flip and looks amazing. THEY were ALL wonderful. Great time!!!! Great CAUSE for celebration!!!!!
This was an AWESOME event, though it would have been nicer if 1) more people would have shown up...maybe advertising more?! and 2) if we would have know they were filming it!!! but minor concerns in light of how great the show was!!! I hope they come back next year!!!!
Good show, Skaters were remakable.... Would like to attend again
My daughter and I had a wonderful time. Scott and Dorothy were funny and very entertaining. The ice skating was super and all the lights and music was great as well. An added bonus was it was taped for tv. Cant wait for Dec 19th to see it on tv.
performers where great, but the show took way to long with all the broadcast. We tought the show would be 2 hours and by the 2 hour mark we were not even through half the show. We had to leave because of work and children the next day. We were expecting it to be more festive for it being called a holiday show.
Holiday Spectacular was so much fun!! I do have to say it was a bit choppy because they were taping the event to play on TV - but beside the delays - it was great!! It felt very intimate because there were not a lot of seats - I liked that!! when I heard about the skaters and singers that were supposed to be there - I thought maybe by video or something but no they were really there!! We got to see Gold Medal Olympic skaters and others I remembered!! They all performed so great!! Seeing DOROTHY HAMILL and SCOTT HAMILTON was so cool!! My highlight was seeing DAVID ARCHULETA!! Oh WOW!! I was so excited!! He was great!! GLORIA GAYNER was great too!! It was very inspiring that either the performers themselves or loved ones have been affected by cancer and they want to help raise money and awareness! They said they are coming back next year to San Antonio - I hope that is true!! I will definitely be there!!!!
We did not like that is was taped for TV. Performance started late and had many interuptions and very disorganized. Probably would not go again. We went to see the skaters not a TV productions in progress.
I laughed, I cried and I was mezmorized. A great night of entertainment. I am both a survivor and I work with patients thoughout there cancer journey and would recommend this show to everyone. The only draw back I found was very small and really not a big problem. I really didn't need all the speeches at the beginning or the overview of the coming symposium on cancer I would be attending. I understand that this was for TV audiences and needed to be done. Otherwise, can't wait for next year, hope it comes back.
It was truly a magical evening! This event was heartlifting, encouraging and entertaining. I will attend again next year!
I will be the first to say that I am not a fan of ice skating. I got tickets to the event because my wife is. (Happy wife happy life) I was very happy with the experience. I didn't know any of the skaters but my wife could tell me of each one of their titles. The show was being recorded to be televised at a later date. This would have been nice to know up front at the recording makes the show go slower as the must change tapes and rerecord mistakes. Still on the who it was an enjoyable evening and I would recommend this event to anyone, even someone who is not an ice skating fan.
This is the first time I have seen something like that in person. It was fantastic. We really enjoyed it.
Wonderful to see skaters we watched on TV through the years; their performances were enjoyed. If we had known it was a live taping would not have attended. Started late, unnecessary intermission, too many delays. Overall made event disappointing. Sad no recognition of local cancer survivors, care-givers!
I have never been to an ice skating show. I watch the stuff once a year and during the olympics. I was so surprised of the caliber of show this was. You could definitely sale out. The crowd will get bigger if you bring it back. I would definitely go annually. Thanks for bringing something different to San Antonio.I'm a football, meat and potatoes single man. This was a great experience for me.
