  • Great concert confusing venue

by Chuck on 10/14/25Gas South Theater - DuluthRating: 4 out of 5

Hiromi is an immensely talented pianist. Her energy and the positive vibes that she gives off made for a wonderful experience. I would love to see her again. I have only seen her on Youtube, but I have heard others talk of her talent. I am glad that I went. The venue was an excellent theater. The problem was that it is next to a convention center, hotel, and another theater venue. All were busy, and traffic was terrible. I went to the wrong theater and parking lot at first. It was about 1/2 half-mile from the theater and the lot I needed to be at. I wish there were signage or someone to direct us.

  • I only wish I knew about this earlier.

by Andrew J. Piatek on 8/26/25Rating: 5 out of 5

I learned about Hiromi from Keyboard magazine. It was at a time when Keyboard was still in print and I'd buy an issue from a newsstand now and then. I used to go to see Chick Corea at Blue Note, and I saw this advertisement about Hiromi's upcoming performance. Okay, I thought it was that avant-garde new artist playing fist and elbows on the keyboard and there was a Clavia Nord Lead synthesizer involved, so I thought to myself, the ticket is $25, what do I have to lose? If I didn't like a prepared piano, then at least there was an unprepared stock synthesizer involved, so I went to the performance. My goodness... I was so blown away with Hiromi. It was I think 2009 or so. My only regret is I didn't start going to Hiromi performances earlier. I missed about five years. Now, whenever Hiromi plays in New York, I don't miss the performances. I rarely even miss a set, never mind a series of shows.

  • People like them because they play fast ?

by Neil on 4/16/25Moore Theatre - SeattleRating: 3 out of 5

I went with a friend . I didn't know the band before this concert . If your interest in music is to hear 4 people play in sync and very fast , then you will love this group . That's not my thing. I like music to have a sense of emotion to it. Yes, this group is handicapped in that regard because there is no singing which usually evokes emotions. But playing blazing fast isn't emotion in my view. Also , they played about 4 songs before the audience was required to beg for more . But even with the encore the concert only lasted about an hour and 50 minutes I feel like I wasted my money and my time . I wouldn't go back .

  • Hiromi’s Sonicwonderful

by EB on 4/16/25Moore Theatre - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

I’ve only heard her on Spotify and seen her on YouTube but one has to see her live to appreciate how fantastic she really is. Let me correct this, all four musicians were!

  • Amazing!

It was one of the best shows I've ever seen. If you ever get a chance I highly recommend!

  • Exciting, Spiritual, Totally Absorbing!

by Big Daddy on 4/8/25Meridian Arts Centre: George Weston - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The venue was a little sound hard and HIROMI's bass player Hadrien Feraud wasn't present tonight. There was a sub-standing in that did a respectable job. Hiromi sets the tone that everyone gets wrapped around from the first note. It rocks back and forth from the most unfamiliar jazz turf to “rock a bye baby” in jazz heaven, then being thrown into the back of a car and taking off on the "SONIC JOURNEY ". No one is falling asleep as she colors your senses with emotions throughout the night. Hiromi explores the emotional polarities with great skill, especially "Pendulum,"from her just-dropped offering. Gene Coye, drummer, and horn Adam O'Farrill are awesome playing the low-key virtuoso realm. They are enjoyable like JIZO spirits guiding you through every composition. The group have departed from traditional jazz cool to a noticeably young, innovative, low-tech Shibuya world Kool.

My seat was against the stage about 15 feet from Hiromi. It's incredible to sit that close to greatness. This was my 5th time seeing her. I always go to the front. Her talent is astounding, I don't think there is anyone better
