  • Hiromi and Edmar

by Benwo on 6/17/17Howard Theatre - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Between Hiromi reaching into her grand piano to pluck strings like a harp or bend them like a guitar and Edmar's amazing harp prowess; this was a show worth experiencing. I've never seen anything like this. They can get down!

  • Hiromi The Trio Project At the Howard Threatre

by turnstyle on 4/5/16Howard Theatre - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

When you're at the Howard, you look around and think about the entertainment that has taken place on its stage, you realize you're at someplace special Hiromi is one of the greats who belongs on the stage at The Howard and I'm grateful I got to see her preform along with Simon Phillips and Anthony Jackson, both of whom compliment Hiromi well. The sound in The Howard is fantastic, the food is delicious and generous, the service is outstanding including the very friendly manner of The Howard staff. All together a special evening for me.

All I can say is WOW! She was amazing. Antony Jackson was solid , the perfect bass player for her. Steve Smith was smooth as ice.

  • Hiromi awesome as expected

by Carltbebop on 11/17/14Howard Theatre - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

The entire band was great, Hiromi has a great stage presence. Wish the show was a few songs longer. Attended with my son, he loved the show and was trilled by her playing.

  • Hiromi @Howard Theater

HEHEHEH all 3 of those musicians is a 1 team dream-team from after seeing them perform tonight at the Howard Theatre. I don't even know for WHO can beat them... (I have been Jazzy for over 20 years of my life AND SHE had BROUGHT over a RARE ELECTRO TRANSITION!!! It worked!! I'm originally a dubstepper!!!) Hiromi's smiles in person had brightened up hearts depressions... Hiromi has a face for TV but it had felt so surreal having to see her in person for my first time tonight. (I was the first seat up close by the stair case from your piano.) ... THANK YOU HIROMI!! You have played 2 of my favorite songs!! You instrumentalist were so inspiring! I wish that the bass player would use the amp of the Howard Theater speakers instead of his own. (I want to be surrounded by sound.) But at least Hiromi had used the huge room amp instead.

  • Hiromi is amazing!

Hiromi moves through music like many of us breathe. She is so effortless and confident you hang with her on every note and phrase. The ride is worth it - her sound and style is compelling. She continues to grow as an artist and performer all while keeping her charm and connection to her audience.

  • Musical Proficiency Lacks Verbal Connect

by dogkato on 4/12/12B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

Although Hiromi is obviously very talented, her overall performance as an entertainer could be improved with a more verbal connection with the audience.

I was really excited to see her play and it was awesome!! She is the only person who can play piano like that also we can see how much she loves to play piano and music, too. Next time, she should be in New York more than one night. She must be loved by New Yorker!

  • Hiromi was incredible

by kyuuketsuki on 4/12/12B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Hiromi is known for her virtuosity, and she shows it off with ease. With her trio, she made new songs to compliment the new band, which works well with her style as well as theirs. She played marvelously throughout. The only complaint is that the percussion was at times louder than the piano, which should not have happened and Simon Philips should have controlled his volume a little better. However these instances were few and far between and did not detract from the overall enjoyment of the show.

I have long thought that Hiromi is the most technically talented jazz pianist ever to have lived, and seeing her live confirmed my impressions.
