The venue was great - sound system excellent. The first three bands only played for about ten minutes each. The last two not a whole lot longer. Just when you were getting into the music they stopped.
Show was worth every penny of the $50 ticket price! Started with Bad Company, then Mitch Ryder, next up was Rare Earth and they rocked the house! Cream was next, a bit disappointing as he only sang one song I ever heard....Best was saved for last...WAR!!! I was out of my seat singing and dancing to War's greatest hits medley, everything from Cisco Kid to Why Can't we be Friends? I would go see this show again and again!!
Hippiefest had really amazing bands and amazing people and was a fantastic concert fro people of all ages. I highly recommend this event.
Hippiefest 2010 at Fraze was an great show. Every act was good. We heard all of the groups big hits. Lineup was: Badfinger Mitch Ryder Rare Earth Jack Bruce War War brought down the house. Too bad Fraze has an 11PM noise ordinance law to contend to. They turned off the PA system about 5 minutes before War was done. No chance for an encore.
The Fraze is an awesome venue! It is not too big and has an awesome sound system. The bands that played were great; especially Mitch Ryder. The audience was very considerate of others.
The 60's brought forth a new era in music, and it's legacy continued Friday night at Fraze Pavillion. From the opening notes of Badfinger's best 2-minute sing-a-long melodies, to the thrill of legend Mitch Ryder, the dynamics of the flute and sax driven groove of Rare Earth and the Hall of Fame power of Jack Bruce's bass--Kettering had to literally "pull the plug" on War to stop this their most memorable set of Platinum hits ! They left the stage with everyone dancing all the way to their cars--what a GREAT showcase of rock history !
not enough tunes from Jack Bruce or War. Left me yearning for more than $ tunes each.War was excellent
While it might get old for the musicians to repeat the same twenty minutes each night, it makes for a great concert. All five acts - War, Jack Bruce, Mitch Ryder, Rare Earth and Joey Molland (Badfinger) - played familiar hits, and delivered them in syles that rivaled their primes. It was still a 3 1/2 hour show (without much time in between acts), and was extremely enjoyable.
It was a good concert and wished it could have started during the day on a Saturday or Sunday so each band could have played longer. My only disappointment was Rare Earth doing a Temptations song in memory of Norman Whitfield. I understand the reason they wanted to pay tribute to one of Motown's best but with the limited time they had to play, I wanted to hear their music not someone elses. With that said, I would still recommend the concert to anyone that loves this era of music!
Great show; it was nice to see the old school groups in such good harmony; brought back lots of good memories. The only problem was the name of the event! It's not a hippie show; these were rock-in-roll, jazz-funk, and R&B boys at their best.
everyone was just fantastic - hope they have again next year with some different groups . the weather was great and i like the different kinds of beers fraze sells there.all i can say is keep these oldies concerts coming!!!!! thanks again!
All of the musicians were great but with five groups scheduled it really cut into the play time for each. I hate going to the Fraze though. The last band, War, was playing and at 11 sharp the power was cut to the amps. I think it's very unfortunate that the Fraze operates in this manner. I would recommend this event but not the venue.
Enjoyed the fact that these guys still LOVE performing so, so much! They put so much joy into their performances....especially Rare Earth :). Kudos to the lead guitarist, who performed with so many of the acts! His skills were legendary. **With the video running behind, it would be great if they ran early, band pics and videos of each performing group. ***The Fraze....absolutely NO BETTER VENUE.
Mitch Ryder was hilarious, and still rocking with his titanium hips. Rare Earth hasn't changed their musical ways a bit. Sounded like they did back in school. But the stars of the show were undeniably WAR. They were awesome. Hope you can get them back next year!
Loved the show until the final act came on...WAR. Lots of taking, little music. Many people left during WAR performance.
great show ,They all still rock ; mitch ryder , wow rare earth ; real good badfinger ; still great War ; cool , jack bruce ; great I'll go again
I went this year and two years ago. both times were fun. Very cool to grab a blanket and hang out with friends on the hill. I was the guy with the orange VW Bus both years parked up by the entrance
All the bands were amazing and the crow was awesome!! Great event!! Can't wait til next year!!!
The highlight of my Summer. Listening to a group of rare talent that has only gotten better with age.
