HENRY KAPONO IN CONCERT:
Hawaiian singer-songwriter Henry Kapono has been delighting audiences with his gritty vocal style and island vibes for over 30 years. With his expansive catalog and charming stage presence, Kapono keeps fans in high spirits at his live shows with rosuing renditions of hits like "I'm Coming Home" and "Stand In the Light". Whether he's plucking his ukelele or playing his signature white electric guitar, the crooner is a legendary act who never fails to warm hearts and minds on his nostalgic tours.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Born and raised in Hawaii, Henry Kapono got his start at the age of five, singing in the local church choir and playing ukelele with his father. He continued to teach himself other instruments including guitar by watching and listening to some of his favorite musicians. In high school and college he was an accomplished football player with plans of going pro, but after several injuries he switched gears and returned to his musical roots. He fronted the Waikiki-based group Pakalolo, playing shows around the islands and gaining a steady cult following along the way. He earned mainstream fame when he formed a duo alongside bandmate Cecilio Rodriguez and landed a deal with Columbia Records. Since then the Grammy-nominated artist has released 17 solo records, won 12 Hoku Hano Hano Awards (Hawaiian Grammys), played alongside Jimmy Buffet, and toured around the world. The decorated singer has three decades of performing under his belt, and he always has ticket buyers feeling the good vibes when he takes the stage.

When I bought my tickets it did not state clearly that you couldn't have a beer in this section. So I had to stand the whole time while I was at the concert in the wannabe beer garden
It was a blessing that the concert was postponed from the earlier date or we would have not been able to attend. The music was fabulous and the entertainers great. The best was Keola Beamer and Kapono singing. It was so nice to see the classic entertainers especially Kalapana but wished they could have performed a couple more songs. Would have been great to hear "Many Classic Moments" Na Leo was awesome too! Even with the rain it was still the best show! Look forward to another one soon!!!

Everything was good, both the venue and the show. Listening to all of the C & K hits brought back so many fond memories of when me and my husband met in high school. I recall going to the summer concerts at the Aloha Stadium with Kalapana as the opening and then C & K in their white suits every year. I enjoyed the new artists and the twists that they added to the original C & K songs. It seemed like Kapono was enjoying himself while accompanying them. They are all so talented. I especially enjoyed Alx and his harmonica playing. It was spot on, just like the original. I also enjoyed seeing the other performers that did their own music. It was nice to see those artists that we grew up enjoying. I hope Kapono continues to do this type of concert every year, maybe with other young, up and coming artists using the same technique. We love to hear the C & K songs and will never get tired of it. C & K songs are memories for all of us. Mahalo nui.
Very fun evening with Kapono and Friends. Even though it rained a bit it was another fun nght at the Shell.
Wonderful to see and hear Henry and friends. Announcers and videos detracted greatly from the experience, also repeated advertising. Either have performers speak or show videos. Insult to audience for performers to repeat what they said in video.
Best ever inspite of the rain. Everyone stayed till the very end!

Henry's Welcome 2 My Paradise tour at Sam's Town Live was perfect. He sang 1 song before the meet and greet and his Aloha Ambassador offered to take pictures of the VIP attendees with Henry. The concert included at least 19 songs including a good mix of Kapono classics along with several new songs from his new 2018 CD. My personal new favorite is 4 Ever & 4 Always. A perfect evening of Henry sharing his love of Hawaii and the Aloha spirit. And an extra treat to hear John Valentine sing some old C & K parts with Henry. Thanks to making a mainland tour and hope you return to Las Vegas real soon!
The whole event brought back many wonder memories from my younger days, BUT the drone flying around was noisy and distracting. Shame on you for allowing it.
The mixture of Local Artists were good. Yes, the Title "Back in the Day", was right on, as it did bring back memories from the '70's and early 80's. Nice to see the next generation blending in with their Kupuna.

Excellent didn't know what to expect being it was my first time. Didn't know it was for a good cause and it an event every year. Fabulous, excellent talent legends and new comers. Didn't want it to end. Totally awesome.
Only thing is hoping each artist would play more of their hit songs. Though I know timing is an issue. Concert still awesome.
This was the Best reunion Concert Henry has ever sponsored and played and I'ved been seeing them since the inception in Rainbow Villa days in the 70's. To bring back Jerry Santos of Ranch House days, the Beamer and others of that time including the Rough Riders Brother Noland and John Cruz was brilliant. Teressa Bright along with the incredible Tamare and compatable new male 13 year old STAR! Henry, you have given us such a specially blended gift of old and new to let us know that it's all going to be alright! We are forever in your debt.

Memorable...Funny...Loving it!!! I would certainly go again next year in 2016 at the same venue, the Waikiki Shell. Not only for the Memories but in support of the "Make a wish Foundation" in which brother Henry Kapono supports...What great thing to be a part of!!!

Everyone should see this show. It gave a feeling of real "ALOHA"
This was my first concert in about five years, and the first time my husband and I had been to the Shell in over 20 years! We also went from sitting on the lawn too reserved seating. We had a wonderful time! The concert was everything I hoped for, and more. It brought back so many wonderful memories of times gone by, places we've been, and things we done. All of my favorite Hawaiian artists sang my favorite s! Henry Kapono was on stage throughout the entire show - what a huge effort on his part! Besides sitting in chairs, the biggest differences we are the paved parking lot, no line for the women's restroom, and the waving of lighters being replaced by cell phones with their lights on! The only bad thing was the drones buzzing over our heads. I kept worrying one would fold of the sky – those things are heavy, and their are buzzing was distracting. Both my husband and I are looking forward to doing this again.
