HENRY KAPONO IN CONCERT:
Hawaiian singer-songwriter Henry Kapono has been delighting audiences with his gritty vocal style and island vibes for over 30 years. With his expansive catalog and charming stage presence, Kapono keeps fans in high spirits at his live shows with rosuing renditions of hits like "I'm Coming Home" and "Stand In the Light". Whether he's plucking his ukelele or playing his signature white electric guitar, the crooner is a legendary act who never fails to warm hearts and minds on his nostalgic tours.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Born and raised in Hawaii, Henry Kapono got his start at the age of five, singing in the local church choir and playing ukelele with his father. He continued to teach himself other instruments including guitar by watching and listening to some of his favorite musicians. In high school and college he was an accomplished football player with plans of going pro, but after several injuries he switched gears and returned to his musical roots. He fronted the Waikiki-based group Pakalolo, playing shows around the islands and gaining a steady cult following along the way. He earned mainstream fame when he formed a duo alongside bandmate Cecilio Rodriguez and landed a deal with Columbia Records. Since then the Grammy-nominated artist has released 17 solo records, won 12 Hoku Hano Hano Awards (Hawaiian Grammys), played alongside Jimmy Buffet, and toured around the world. The decorated singer has three decades of performing under his belt, and he always has ticket buyers feeling the good vibes when he takes the stage.

This was a fantastic event! We are so fortunate to live in Hawaii and have the opportunity to enjoy the good old days and reminisce. This is like having the Eagles, Journey, Santana, Jimmy Buffet and others get together for a back in the day concert on the mainland for a whole lot less. What a great event!!!! Can't wait until next year's concert!

Every performer that sang was the best they ever were. They brought us back to the 70s when they first performed the songs. The memories of back in the day were unbelievable.

Great concert! Great Music! Nui Aloha! It was so wonderful to see so many friends of Henry's helping to raise money for the Make a Wish Foundation! It was an amazing, long concert. It was almost 4 hours long, but it went by so fast! My husband and I can't stop talking about it! So much aloha!
Henry and friends brought the sound of aloha to The Waikiki Shell on Saturday, August 23, 2014. It was the best concert my heart has ever heard.
AWESOME. SPECTACULAR. HANA HOU!!! Great having all these local icons coming together & putting together such a wonderful performance. Songs from Back In The Day brought back a flood of memories & to hear it being performed live was "chicken skin". Hope there will be a hana hou concert soon.
The Whole Concert Event **Great** But needed a new Lighting Engineer, Not so good @ times
One of the best local concerts we have been to this year. Henry Kapono can sing any type of genre and the guests he had who played and sang with him were incredible!!!
I sang along with every single song during this concert except the one Kapono sang while the video was shown with the children from the Make a Wish Foundation. I was too busy shedding tears during that! Thank you Henry for putting this together. We all enjoyed it!
It was "Mid-Summer Night Dream" or like "Hawaiian" All Star game! Some C&K songs which Kapono played with friends were beautiful, such as "Kapono and Robert Kazimero", "Kapono and John Cruz", "Kapono and Sister Robi" or "Kapono and Amy",etc. I'm very happy to listen great duo or harmony. This is the best concert in 2014.

This was one of the BEST concerts ever!!! Perfect setting at Waikiki Shell, music was awesome, emcees were thoroughly entertaining! I hope they make a live CD!
That was one of THE BEST concerts I have ever been to! I'm a transplant from the mainland and having lived here before, I knew a lot about Hawaiian music, but when Kalapana took the stage and ROCKED DA HOUSE, I knew how much I didn't actually know. That whole concert was a once in a lifetime experience!
