HENRY KAPONO IN CONCERT:
Hawaiian singer-songwriter Henry Kapono has been delighting audiences with his gritty vocal style and island vibes for over 30 years. With his expansive catalog and charming stage presence, Kapono keeps fans in high spirits at his live shows with rosuing renditions of hits like "I'm Coming Home" and "Stand In the Light". Whether he's plucking his ukelele or playing his signature white electric guitar, the crooner is a legendary act who never fails to warm hearts and minds on his nostalgic tours.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Born and raised in Hawaii, Henry Kapono got his start at the age of five, singing in the local church choir and playing ukelele with his father. He continued to teach himself other instruments including guitar by watching and listening to some of his favorite musicians. In high school and college he was an accomplished football player with plans of going pro, but after several injuries he switched gears and returned to his musical roots. He fronted the Waikiki-based group Pakalolo, playing shows around the islands and gaining a steady cult following along the way. He earned mainstream fame when he formed a duo alongside bandmate Cecilio Rodriguez and landed a deal with Columbia Records. Since then the Grammy-nominated artist has released 17 solo records, won 12 Hoku Hano Hano Awards (Hawaiian Grammys), played alongside Jimmy Buffet, and toured around the world. The decorated singer has three decades of performing under his belt, and he always has ticket buyers feeling the good vibes when he takes the stage.
Inspite of being postponed several times, it was AWESOME!!! To hear ALL the performers on this be stage for 4+ hours was incredible!!! One change I would suggest is to have the merchandise booth at the entrance/exit… was wanting to buy some things to support the Foundation but could not find it.
Love that Henry Kapono shares the love and stage with legends and newcomers! Henry and his team put together a classy performance, filled with songs we love. I love that he sings with them and they sign each others songs! Wish this was an all-day or weekend festival so we could hear more from all of them! Kudo's to the Henry Kapono Foundation for the good work they do taking care of our musicians! I will always attend this type of concert!

Star studded lineup starring the legends of our time. Had such a great time singing & reminiscing. I also loved the tributes to those who have passed, namely members of Kalapana & Roland Cazimero. One of the best concerts ever!!😍

HITI (Home in the Islands) touched our hearts and brought us so many wonderful memories. Kapono and friends assembled the best and most talented long time artists, musicians, dancers, and entertainers Hawai’i has to offer. We are so fortunate to be raised during these times so their music is very much a part of our being and our lives. Robert and Lahela’ s Pretty Face” was so beautiful. Mahalo to all for an unforgettable evening. 🎶

What a great experience to see so many wonderful performers on one stage! I appreciate the time and commitment it took those who put “ Home in the Islands” together. To hear some, new to me, music was fun, however to hear those songs I have listened to for decades ONO, WOW, memory lane of life!! Mahalo for a night I’ll never forget.
The concert was one of the best ever!! And I’ve gone to quite a few in the past 4-5 decades! Music was awesome, even though there was more than 15 artists , it flowed smoothly!! Thank you Kapono for making this concert!!
Henry Kapono is an Hawaiian music legend, and I've been listening to his music since the early days of Cecilio & Kapono. The live music industry has been particularly hard hit by the Covid pandemic. and Henry formed the Henry Kapono Foundation at the height of the shutdowns to support Hawaii's music industry. He arranged this show to showcase and support 18 fellow performers, including some fellow legends such as Kalpana and Jerry Santos, along with some up-and-comers. In total, over 500 music industry people got to earn a paycheck, and we fans were treated to an incredible show. We flew out (from California) for the weekend to see this show, and then to see Henry play again at Duke's on Sunday. From the first note to the last, it was truly magical.
From beginning to end, a spectacular experience! We laughed and cried, sang at the top of our lungs in unison with those around us. One after another, legends of the Hawaiian scene sat in with the Allstar cast. It was something we’ll never forget!

The best concert I’ve been to. It was epic. Well run event with soooo many artists performing one after the other.
I really enjoyed the show the music the entertainment was so inspiring and really lifted my spirits at a time when I needed it most as I am battling cancer. My attention was gluted to the stage the whole show. I already purchased the CD plus two for family on the mainland. Henry Kapono is still a great entertainer. So glad I went.
It was 40+ years in the making but Henry Kapono and Friends was a Great Time Together. Having spent many weekend nights on the grass at the Shell it was nice and a welcome relief to be sitting near the front for this nostalgic event. I saw a buddy of mine pre-show and commented that there was no way that the entire lineup of talent was going to make it on stage that night! But the show was well-produced and flowed nicely with minimal hiccups. It got to be kind of overwhelming as one after another performers hit the stage and did signature hits after hits. But what fun! Constantly found myself wishing,"Ooo, I wish we could hear more of them/her/him..."
This concert was awesome! All the entertainers and especially Kapono went all out to make this concert great for the audience! Was worth every cent! Felt like they wanted to make sure all enjoyed the concert!
Henry never disappoints when he performs. He loves Hawaii and the people love him. It was wonderful hearing the young performers sing C&K songs.
Not only was it a concert with extraordinary talent (both old school and new artists) but the purpose of these concerts is great. It has been my experience over the years that Kapono cares a lot about others, and gives of his heart, his time, his talent and his income to support causes that matter. Great man, great talent, great heart!
Too many overly long interruptions to fundraise. Sound was patchy in the lawn seats. Should have been louder. Hard to hear many songs.
