About

Brilliantly innovative, heartbreaking, and wickedly funny, HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH is the landmark American musical by John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask that is “groundbreaking and undoubtedly ahead of its time” (Entertainment Weekly). This genre-bending, fourth-wall-smashing musical sensation, with a pulsing score and electrifying performances, tells the story of one of the most unique characters to ever hit the stage.

Directed by Tony Award winner Michael Mayer (Spring Awakening) and winner of four 2014 Tony Awards including Best Musical Revival, HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH played to record-breaking sell-out crowds on Broadway and promises to take the country by storm with what Time Magazine proclaims is “the most exciting rock score written for the theatre since, oh, ever!”

Hedwig is a life changing event

by Wiccabuffy on 11/5/16Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los Angeles

The set, sound, lights, & costumes all contribute to the musical, showcasing the way that Hedwig's mental state changes. The band (returning from the Original Broadway Cast) plays their roles and the music perfectly. Tony winner Lena Hall steals every moment as Yitzhak, Hedwig's husband full of repressed anger and longing for love. Her voice is magnificent and blends well with Darren Criss, who somehow manages to make us love Hedwig despite the way she treats her husband, her band, and even the audience. Darren is a revelation in the role, full of energy in all the choreography and physicality needed for the part and yet can also play the quiet sadness in the ballads perfectly too. The best show I have ever seen at the Pantages.

    Great show!

by RhondaS on 11/5/16Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los Angeles

There were so many one-liners that I didn't catch them all. But Darrin Criss was just amazing. He is so talented. We really enjoyed the show and would recommend. Not for little ones tho--too many sexual themes.

An Actual Rock Musical Not Kidding

by Musicaltheatreguy on 11/5/16Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los Angeles

Pseudoprofound in the way that only a true rock musical can be, Hedwig and the Angry Inch takes the movie and makes it WAY more entertaining and effective. "The Origin of Love", so striking in the film, here becomes the grand spectacle extraordinary, on every conceivable level. Darren Criss gives us a Hedwig that we allow to take us all the way into transsexual identification and the beauty of love and creation within rock reality.

    biggest hedwig yet!

by chardothefightfan on 11/4/16Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los Angeles

this show was amazing. 3rd incarnation of the show i've seen. a lot of the small bar band aesthetic has been replaced by over the top spectacle. a very different but equally enjoyable experience. i had concerns about Darren Criss, (or most anyone for that matter), stepping into hedwigs VERY BIG SHOES, but he was truly incredible...

    A Must, Must, Must See

by DYMDM on 11/4/16Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los Angeles

Having never seen or heard about Hedwig and the Angry Inch...I didn't know what to expect. From the first minute to the last, I was hanging onto every minute. The songs, dialogue, humor AND the Actors made it all so wonderful. If you have never seen Hedwig - You Must See It.

    Didn't like it

by MamaKateof6 on 11/4/16Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los Angeles

The venue was beautiful. Loved the theater and atmosphere. The play was probably my least fav I've seen, and I see a lot of plays. I couldn't understand the lyrics in the music. The plot was hard to follow. I'm not even sure what really happened at the end. The lights were way over the top. I had to close my eyes, they were blinding. I go to the theater many times a year. I love it. I would not recommend this show to anyone.

    Interesting evening at the theatre

by watchfuleyes on 11/4/16Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los Angeles

Don't expect normal musical theatre. Expect a night at a rock club with a drag queen who has a thin story to tell. Once you "get into the character" it is an endearing story. Performed by a very talented individual with an abundance of energy. A theatre piece that is not meant for everyone. Some catchy tunes, some dramatic outlook. All in all a nice night out.
