Heart in Concert

Ann Wilson and her younger sister, Nancy Wilson first showed the world that women can rock when their band Heart stormed the charts in the '70s with hits like "Crazy on You," "Magic Man," "Barracuda," ‘Straight On," "Even It Up," "Kick It Out" and so many more.  They continued topping the charts through the ‘80s and into the ‘90s with huge hits like "These Dreams," "Alone," "What About Love," "If Looks Could Kill," "Never," and a string of other hits that showcased the sisters' enormous talents as both musicians and singers. Along the way, Heart sold more than 30 million records, had 21 top 40 hits, sold out arenas worldwide, and had a profound influence on rock music.

In the mid-'90s, Ann and Nancy returned to Seattle and formed The Lovemongers, with long-time collaborator Sue Ennis and performer Frank Cox. After playing a number of sold-out shows in Seattle, Lovemongers cut Led Zeppelin's "Battle of Evermore" for the triple platinum soundtrack from the movie Singles, which was one of Nancy Wilson's first musical collaborations with her husband, filmmaker (and Singles writer/director) Cameron Crowe.  This was followed by their work together on Jerry Maguire, the Grammy and Oscar winning Almost Famous, Vanilla Sky, and Elizabethtown.

After nearly 20 years of working together, each of the Wilson sisters took some time off to start their families and pursue solo projects. Nancy scored films and recorded a solo project, Live from McCabes. She and Cameron became the parents of Billy and Curtis, twin sons now 6 years old.   Ann, now the mother of 14-year-old Marie and 7-year-old Dustin, made her theatrical debut in "Teatro Zinzanni," followed by a stint in the NW production of "Vagina Monologues."  She  also toured the U.S. and Japan with an all-star ensemble company in "Abbey Road: A Tribute to the Beatles."

The sisters reunited as Heart in early 2002, touring extensively to sold-out audiences for three summers, during which time they released a critically acclaimed live concert film on DVD and CD, Heart Alive In Seattle, followed in 2004 by Jupiters Darling, the first new Heart studio album in a decade, produced by Nancy and featuring 15 original songs. Classic Rock magazine hailed Jupiters Darling as a career tour de force, calling it "the only record you need to buy this year."  Television appearances on "The Today Show," "Ellen," "Conan O'Brien," "CMT Crossroads (with Wynonna Judd)", and more followed its release. In December 2005, PBS aired a two-hour SoundStage special, showcasing songs from Jupiters Darling as well as many classic Heart hits, also available on DVD (Koch).

In 2006, Heart returns to the road again, in support of their Love Songs project for Legacy Records, a compilation of Heart hits, some in new versions, and a few brand new recordings of Ann and Nancy's favorite covers including Elton John's "Love Song."  2006 will also mark the release of the first ever solo project by Ann Wilson (Rounder Records).  Produced by Ben Mink (k.d. lang, BareNaked Ladies), the CD is a collection of songs of social conscience.  Several guest artists will lend their performances to this landmark project, including Elton John.

Heart was tight, but not a "blow-away" show

by TBoneP on 7/8/09Sandia Casino Amphitheater - Albuquerque

I've never seen Heart live until this show. They were definately tight and sounded good. Not a "blow-away" show by any means. Not a $50.00 show.

Heart is as good as ever!!!!!

by Sambo on 7/8/09Sandia Casino Amphitheater - Albuquerque

Ann and Nancy Wilson are the greatest. You would never believe they had been singing for over 30 years. Ann's voice is still the best and you would think Nancy was in her twenties when you see and hear her play the guitar. It was a very good concert.

    My Heart is breaking...

by BelleR on 7/8/09Sandia Casino Amphitheater - Albuquerque

because for the second year that I have seen Heart in concert they did not play "DreamBoat Annie," one of my favorite Heart songs and, the song that made me love them to begin with which probably holds true for many Heart fans. What's up Heart, why won't you play "DreamBoat Annie?" Another classic song that was missing from last night's concert is "Dog & Butterfly." Anne Wilson did explain they were "working it out," which I guess I have to accept, but I just don't get it! These two songs are in my top five best Heart songs and it's just so, so, so, disappointing that they did not perform them. I have been a Heart fan since the beginning and Heart will forever be my favorite Rock band of all time. Anne and Nancy still have it after all these years. They rocked last night's concert even without DBA & D&B but it would be really awesome to hear them perform those songs live someday. I only gave the concert 4 out of 5 stars because of the missing songs but in my "heart" they are and will always be 5 stars, AMAZING!!!

    WOW

by Bucky on 7/8/09Sandia Casino Amphitheater - Albuquerque

Heart was everything I hoped they would be and more. The Wilson sisters still have it. Ann's voice is incredible. They sang all the songs I love plus songs from The Who and Led Zepplin. Nancy sounds great as well and can still really entertain on stage. These ladies really know how to put on a show. One of the speakers blew early on in the concert, but they remixed on the fly and the show was still great in spite of it.

    Heart is alive and well!

by Mebulator on 7/8/09Sandia Casino Amphitheater - Albuquerque

Ann and Nancy Wilson blew away its audience at Sandia Crest, Albuquerque, NM. The middle aged crowd was on its feet for most of the concert. It wasn't long enough. There were so many more Heart songs from their anthology that weren't included!!! The cost at Sandia Crest was very good. This was an outside venue, and a great place for Heart to perform with its hard hitting and crescendoing music. It was also a smaller venue, and it was nice. I've seen them in bigger venues, and this smaller size was much preferable.

    Heart worth driving 200 miles

by Alien47 on 7/8/09Sandia Casino Amphitheater - Albuquerque

I chose to attend this concert based on watching a concert on DVD. I really had never listened to Heart that much during the past 30 years. They really delivered a quality performance that made driving 200 miles worth the effort. My only complaint would be that during the first 30 minutes the volume from the bass player was way too high. After that was corrected the rest of the concert was most enjoyable. Ann Wilson still has a remarkable voice as does her sister Nancy. Nancy has a great voice too and she is a very talented guitar player. Great concert!

    THEY ROCKED!

by Retired8 on 7/8/09Sandia Casino Amphitheater - Albuquerque

HEART PUT ON A GREAT SHOW TUESDAY NIGHT. NO DOUBT THIS BAND STILL CAN ROCK! THEY DID A WONDERFUL MIX OF THEIR CLASSIC ROCK OLDIES AND SOME 80'S SONGS AND MORE. THE OPENING WITH BARRACUDA AND THE CLOSING WITH MAGIC MAN WERE SIMPLY ROCK HARD. THE COVER OF THE WHO'S LOVE REIGN O'ER ME AND LED ZEPPELIN'S IMMIGRANT SONG WERE SPECTACULAR. NOTHING BUT LOVE FROM THE AUDIENCE WHO WERE INTO EVERY SONG. ANN AND NANCY, YOU GIRLS RULE ROCK.

Heart is as wonderful 30 years later!

by Dreamboat on 7/8/09Sandia Casino Amphitheater - Albuquerque

Ann and Nancy Wilson are still going strong and have a fabulous band worthy of the name Heart. But, let's fact it - we only care about Ann and Nancy as long as the rest of the band can play their songs! Ann's voice hasn't changed and Nancy still moves and kicks around on stage as she always has. The sound quality was excellent. Sandia Casino & Resort is a great venue; just the right size and complete with viewing screens. As I mentioned Ann & Nancy are Heart but their band is REALLY good too!

    stole my HEART!!

by LuckyTVB on 7/8/09Sandia Casino Amphitheater - Albuquerque

We walked from the valet where we were dropped off and found that even though it was so busy we strolled right in without having to stand in line. The staff at the door was friendly and professional. My only complaint about the venue was that the stands for beverages were located in a small area and it created a funnel of people and trying to get back out from there was tough. Our seats were awesome!! Even though we weren't directly in the front, I had a great view. The Sandias were the back drop and it was beautiful. Heart was Amazing!!! They rocked it out! Her voice is so amazing. Everyone sitting around us was having a blast!! I was having such a great time that it seemed that it went by way to fast!! I wish it would've lasted longer!!! Me and my co-workers had a great time, and would do it again in a HEART beat!!!!!

This is the 3rd time we've seen Heart in Albuquerque, 2nd time and Sandia Casino, much better venue. They have rocked the house all 3 times and if they come again, well, you know it, we'll be there!

    Heart has still got it!

by Batty4 on 7/8/09Sandia Casino Amphitheater - Albuquerque

Performing songs they first performed 30 years ago, along with songs from the 80's and 90's.... Heart can still rock! All ages enjoyed the show. Not many female rockers can belt out songs by "The Who" and "Led Zeppelin" ... but Ann Wilson can, what a voice! Nancy is an amazing musician, so talented! I look forward to the next tour.

    Excellent Show!!!

by JimD on 7/8/09Sandia Casino Amphitheater - Albuquerque

Still amazing after all these years. Ann Wilson still has the voice. Even blew out the speakers on one side!! Nancy is still my favorite....multi-talented. I appreciated some of the older older songs like when I saw them back in the 1960s in a bar scene in Monterry, Calfornia. Even the tribute with the Led Zep songs was great!!

    Heart was Great!

by Conejo on 7/8/09Sandia Casino Amphitheater - Albuquerque

Heart still has got what it takes after all these years. Ann Wilson has always been one of my favorite vocalists and still is. Nancy is still as talented and beautiful as ever. Great concert! I will go again when they come back and will buy tickets the day they go on sale. I do wish they would play a little longer, though. An hour and a half goes by way too quick.
