Heart in Concert

Ann Wilson and her younger sister, Nancy Wilson first showed the world that women can rock when their band Heart stormed the charts in the '70s with hits like "Crazy on You," "Magic Man," "Barracuda," ‘Straight On," "Even It Up," "Kick It Out" and so many more.  They continued topping the charts through the ‘80s and into the ‘90s with huge hits like "These Dreams," "Alone," "What About Love," "If Looks Could Kill," "Never," and a string of other hits that showcased the sisters' enormous talents as both musicians and singers. Along the way, Heart sold more than 30 million records, had 21 top 40 hits, sold out arenas worldwide, and had a profound influence on rock music.

In the mid-'90s, Ann and Nancy returned to Seattle and formed The Lovemongers, with long-time collaborator Sue Ennis and performer Frank Cox. After playing a number of sold-out shows in Seattle, Lovemongers cut Led Zeppelin's "Battle of Evermore" for the triple platinum soundtrack from the movie Singles, which was one of Nancy Wilson's first musical collaborations with her husband, filmmaker (and Singles writer/director) Cameron Crowe.  This was followed by their work together on Jerry Maguire, the Grammy and Oscar winning Almost Famous, Vanilla Sky, and Elizabethtown.

After nearly 20 years of working together, each of the Wilson sisters took some time off to start their families and pursue solo projects. Nancy scored films and recorded a solo project, Live from McCabes. She and Cameron became the parents of Billy and Curtis, twin sons now 6 years old.   Ann, now the mother of 14-year-old Marie and 7-year-old Dustin, made her theatrical debut in "Teatro Zinzanni," followed by a stint in the NW production of "Vagina Monologues."  She  also toured the U.S. and Japan with an all-star ensemble company in "Abbey Road: A Tribute to the Beatles."

The sisters reunited as Heart in early 2002, touring extensively to sold-out audiences for three summers, during which time they released a critically acclaimed live concert film on DVD and CD, Heart Alive In Seattle, followed in 2004 by Jupiters Darling, the first new Heart studio album in a decade, produced by Nancy and featuring 15 original songs. Classic Rock magazine hailed Jupiters Darling as a career tour de force, calling it "the only record you need to buy this year."  Television appearances on "The Today Show," "Ellen," "Conan O'Brien," "CMT Crossroads (with Wynonna Judd)", and more followed its release. In December 2005, PBS aired a two-hour SoundStage special, showcasing songs from Jupiters Darling as well as many classic Heart hits, also available on DVD (Koch).

In 2006, Heart returns to the road again, in support of their Love Songs project for Legacy Records, a compilation of Heart hits, some in new versions, and a few brand new recordings of Ann and Nancy's favorite covers including Elton John's "Love Song."  2006 will also mark the release of the first ever solo project by Ann Wilson (Rounder Records).  Produced by Ben Mink (k.d. lang, BareNaked Ladies), the CD is a collection of songs of social conscience.  Several guest artists will lend their performances to this landmark project, including Elton John.

    I "heart" HEART

by Lanita on 7/11/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa Mesa

It seemed as I was in a dream, a dream that took place 30 years in the past. Nothing has changed with this band, infact I think they have gotten better with age. Ann's voice was flawless and Nancy's musical talent was just incredible. Couldnt ask for anything better.

Ann and Nancy Wilson never disappoint. There music is timeless and in this age of studio enhanced voices there is no one that matches them. Every song is a memorable hit and they were phenomenal!!

    Heart Rocks!!!!

by ChristinaO on 7/11/09The Seneca Niagara Events Center at Seneca Niagara Casino - Niagara Falls

Ann & Nancy Wilson still got it! The band was fabulous! I had to buy the CD and Live DVD because I did not want the night to end. I do wish the concert would have been longer, but then again I always do. Ann's voice in the song "Alone" on the CD is just sooooooo Beautiful, I listen to it in my car and turn the volume way up!!!!!

    amazing voice

by ocfan on 7/11/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa Mesa

The Heart concert at the OC Fair was outstanding. At times Ann Wilson's voice was not up to the standards I have heard in the past but still amazing. A concert definitely one needs to attend for a good time.

Heart was awesome last night! I wish they could play a little more longer. The first time i saw them at opening concert forJourney last year at the Greek theater in LA, I felt in love with Heart and their music . When i got home, I started down loading their songs in my ipod. When I found out they're gonna be at the OC Fair concert , I didn't waste any time , i bought 4 tix 'coz I know it will be sold out very soon!

    Heart

by ShannonAFell on 7/11/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa Mesa

The cameramen were HORRIBLE and the lighting people weren't much better... thankfully this only distracted a little from how great Heart sounded!

    Heart was GREAT...but

by Leroy on 7/11/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa Mesa

Last nights Heart show was an incredible experience. The Pacific was great, the crowd was amazing, and both Heart and Michael Grimm were outstanding. The only criticism I have is that Heart covered 2 Zeppelin and 1 Who songs, all of which were very well done, but I would have rather they did their own music. It is not as though they did not have enough material to do their own stuff. Overall...a great show and a wonderful memory.

    A+ Band; C+ show

by Keldogs on 7/11/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa Mesa

What a great band - Musically this group plays together and delivers all the power, dynamics and textures we expect from such a great library of music. The opening 3 song salvo just rocked - everyone was up listening to hits like Barracuda and Straight On to You. When I say everybody I am talking ages 7 to 65. Ann Wilson's voice is still as full as the 70's, she belts out the lyrics with full voice and ease. I enjoyed closing my eyes to just listening they sound just like the record, or during their "hey-day" concert tours. Marvelous, BRAVO! The downside of the evening had nothing to do with the musical performance - it was all technical and production. The sound man, must be a veteran - as his mix was way off with too much treble - it wasn't too loud, it was just ear piercing. Heart needs to hire "ears" that haven't been damaged from years of loud music. Lastly, the camera for the big screen was really terrible, never showing the entire band, only showing Nancy Wilson's face 5 times, it was like watching a performance on web cam that couldn't move. if Ann Wilson could watch a reply and see all the side shots I think she would shoot the producer. (Not at all flattering to Ann's large figure). In short, the band was awesome - still capable of being recognized as an "A list" band what a pleasure to hear and see, The deficit in the production implies they are traveling lite (salary wise) with a "B- band" production team. And that is a shame. If you are a Heart fan go see this show - they still rock! K

    Awesome Show....way too short....

by Blackolds98 on 7/11/09The Seneca Niagara Events Center at Seneca Niagara Casino - Niagara Falls

Heart was amazing! The girls kicked ass, and the rest of the band followed right along. I would have liked to hear more songs for the money....74.00 for an hour and a half is a bit much. But all in all one of my top 5 ever!!!
