Heart in Concert

Ann Wilson and her younger sister, Nancy Wilson first showed the world that women can rock when their band Heart stormed the charts in the '70s with hits like "Crazy on You," "Magic Man," "Barracuda," ‘Straight On," "Even It Up," "Kick It Out" and so many more.  They continued topping the charts through the ‘80s and into the ‘90s with huge hits like "These Dreams," "Alone," "What About Love," "If Looks Could Kill," "Never," and a string of other hits that showcased the sisters' enormous talents as both musicians and singers. Along the way, Heart sold more than 30 million records, had 21 top 40 hits, sold out arenas worldwide, and had a profound influence on rock music.

In the mid-'90s, Ann and Nancy returned to Seattle and formed The Lovemongers, with long-time collaborator Sue Ennis and performer Frank Cox. After playing a number of sold-out shows in Seattle, Lovemongers cut Led Zeppelin's "Battle of Evermore" for the triple platinum soundtrack from the movie Singles, which was one of Nancy Wilson's first musical collaborations with her husband, filmmaker (and Singles writer/director) Cameron Crowe.  This was followed by their work together on Jerry Maguire, the Grammy and Oscar winning Almost Famous, Vanilla Sky, and Elizabethtown.

After nearly 20 years of working together, each of the Wilson sisters took some time off to start their families and pursue solo projects. Nancy scored films and recorded a solo project, Live from McCabes. She and Cameron became the parents of Billy and Curtis, twin sons now 6 years old.   Ann, now the mother of 14-year-old Marie and 7-year-old Dustin, made her theatrical debut in "Teatro Zinzanni," followed by a stint in the NW production of "Vagina Monologues."  She  also toured the U.S. and Japan with an all-star ensemble company in "Abbey Road: A Tribute to the Beatles."

The sisters reunited as Heart in early 2002, touring extensively to sold-out audiences for three summers, during which time they released a critically acclaimed live concert film on DVD and CD, Heart Alive In Seattle, followed in 2004 by Jupiters Darling, the first new Heart studio album in a decade, produced by Nancy and featuring 15 original songs. Classic Rock magazine hailed Jupiters Darling as a career tour de force, calling it "the only record you need to buy this year."  Television appearances on "The Today Show," "Ellen," "Conan O'Brien," "CMT Crossroads (with Wynonna Judd)", and more followed its release. In December 2005, PBS aired a two-hour SoundStage special, showcasing songs from Jupiters Darling as well as many classic Heart hits, also available on DVD (Koch).

In 2006, Heart returns to the road again, in support of their Love Songs project for Legacy Records, a compilation of Heart hits, some in new versions, and a few brand new recordings of Ann and Nancy's favorite covers including Elton John's "Love Song."  2006 will also mark the release of the first ever solo project by Ann Wilson (Rounder Records).  Produced by Ben Mink (k.d. lang, BareNaked Ladies), the CD is a collection of songs of social conscience.  Several guest artists will lend their performances to this landmark project, including Elton John.

    Almost great again

by olebuddymike on 7/12/09Chastain Park Amphitheatre Peter Conlon Presents - Atlanta

For the second time in two years, Heart didn't play "What about Love?" My favorite.

    Heart was awesome!

by SusieQsie on 7/12/09Pier Six Concert Pavilion - Baltimore

I really enjoyed Heart. Being an '80s music fan, I often go to concerts of groups that were popular during that era. Many artists tend to lose their (voice) ranges after several years. Heart, on the other hand, was an exception. Ann blew me away. Her voice was just as strong as it has always been. Nancy was still a wonderful, energetic guitar player and talented singer as well. It was a beautiful night in a wonderful setting on the water in Baltimore City. The opener for Heart was great too. My only complaint was that Heart didn't play for a long time. I think it was about an hour. I thought they could've played a bit longer.

Nancy and Anne sounded better then my records

by Jane1 on 7/12/09Pier Six Concert Pavilion - Baltimore

My daughter suggested I go the concert because I listened to Heart's old records. We went to pier 6 consert May 17 th. My husband ended up going also. The concert started later then I thought, but I hadn't been to a concert in years! I listened to Dreamboat Annie record before going to the concert. All I can say is Anne's voice sounded better then my record. Her voice was clear and she hit all the high notes on key. Amazing Her sister Nancy was playing the gutiar and jumping like she was in her 20's. I had a great time. Thanks for the show

    Heart at Chastain Park

by CFKMusicFan on 7/12/09Chastain Park Amphitheatre Peter Conlon Presents - Atlanta

The weather was awful but the performance made me forget about the incessant rain falling. They sounded great, better than in the late 80's. Seemed to really enjoy the songs and being there. Lots of covers from other artists which sort of upset my father but I thought it was nice. Maybe a bit more of their own stuff would have been good but it was fun to hear what music they were moved by.

    Chicks rock!

by CowboiMindy on 7/12/09Chastain Park Amphitheatre Peter Conlon Presents - Atlanta

There are no words. The concert was legend meets legend. It rained for 2/3 of the show. But, nothing could drown the enthusiasm and excitement of the evening. Heart... amazing. Joan Jett... better each time I see her.

    Very enjoyable concert

by Bumblebee1955 on 7/12/09Chastain Park Amphitheatre Peter Conlon Presents - Atlanta

Even though it rained, we had fun. I was disappointed they didn't sing Dog and the Butterly....but otherwise was a good time.

    Heart THE BEST!

by PSYCH82 on 7/12/09The Seneca Niagara Events Center at Seneca Niagara Casino - Niagara Falls

This was one of the best concerts I have been to in a very long time! Heart is more powerful than ever! The music and the vocals were absolutely outstanding. Those gals got this old gal out of her seat and dancing in the aisle. A great concert for new and true blue fans.

    Heart gave an Excellent Show!!!

by Jrickell on 7/12/09Pier Six Concert Pavilion - Baltimore

Heart gave an Excellent Show, they were outstanding, they played almost all of their hits. Even some obscure songs from the album Magazine. And Ann's solo songs were also a hit.

    Heart was awsome!

by gagirl2771 on 7/12/09Chastain Park Amphitheatre Peter Conlon Presents - Atlanta

Heart sounded great and put on a super show. Chastain is an fabulous venue, even in the rain. We took our kids, and the crowd did get a little rowdy toward the end.

    What a voice!

by Canadians on 7/12/09Pier Six Concert Pavilion - Baltimore

We really enjoyed the concert. Her voice is very powerful; it puts most or should put most of today's bands to shame. Nothing added to her voice to make it something more. WOW! I just wish they played more of their own songs. Why is it that they didn't and had to play other people's songs? We go to a concert to hear what they sang because we love them and then they sing other groups songs. The light show was really good too. Their show was too short as well, it was just about an hour - too short!! We wanted to hear more.

    Heart has lost heart

by Jojowins on 7/12/09Chastain Park Amphitheatre Peter Conlon Presents - Atlanta

Disappointed big time. The rain didn't do much to help matters but weather aside, Heart just doesn't seem to have it anymore. Most disappointing was their set-list. They did more non-Heart songs than they did their own music. At least that was how it seemed. A lot of Led Zeppelin. Didn't feel like I got what I paid for--a major disappointment!

"My 12 Year old "Loves" Heart"!!!!

by Chastain on 7/12/09Chastain Park Amphitheatre Peter Conlon Presents - Atlanta

Honestly I didn't even realize Heart was in town. I have been ill and a concert was not on my mind. My twelve year old came to my husband and I and simply ask, "Can we go see Heart"? My husband and I looked at each other and explained to her we probably couldn't even get decent tickets as the concert was the next day. I told her I'd try (It ROCKS that she love Heart). I checked it out and got three seats! She was beside herself!! We all three had more fun than we could have ever imagined! Heart was my favorite in 1987! My daughter knew every word to every song. People around us wanted to know how old she was and were amazed that a kid twelve even knew who heart was. She selected a few t-shirts to sport at school. She was "shocked" that kids at school didn't know who Heart was. She has downloaded several of her "favs" to her i-pod and is schooling her friends on the "Total Coolness" of Heart! It was a memory I will cherish always! Thank you Heart for rocking today for my child as awesome as you did for me back in the 80's ! If/when Heart comes back to Atlanta we will be there!!! It rained on us and we got chilly but the whole house was rocking and we soooo didn't care!!!

    Heart keeps on Rockin'!

by DHanna on 7/12/09Pier Six Concert Pavilion - Baltimore

Heart was my very first concert (many many followed) in January of 1978 at the Baltimore Civic Center (many names ago) how thrilled I was to again in 2009 experience a show that "Kicked it Out" just as it did then. The stage presence ROCKS along with the music and voices that had me singing to every song just as I did as a kid back then!! The venue was perfect! Thanks for the perfect show!

    Heart @ Chastain

by Sista1Nancy on 7/12/09Chastain Park Amphitheatre Peter Conlon Presents - Atlanta

I've actually seen Heart in concert over half a dozen times. This was a good show, but not their best. I think that was partially the WET weather.
