    Amazing

by Joe Six Pack on 11/11/21Brighton Music Hall presented by Citizens - Boston

Hayes Carll is as great a performer as he is a songwriter and much better guitar player than I had realized. The band was great. The rhythm section somehow laying down the coolest grooves while signing some of the best harmonies I've ever heard. Finally, the sound at the show was fantastic. How much is attributable to Carll and how much to the Brighton Music Hall, I don't know, but it was fantastic.

    really great concert

by Dutch Brother on 11/11/21Brighton Music Hall presented by Citizens - Boston

Hayes Carll opens himself up and shares his thoughts and feelings more than any other musician I can think of. He feels like an old friend. He is so comfortable in his skin, but I think it took him a long time to get there, so it seems to be the result of his choices and getting there. His slower paced, more acoustic songs ("Help Me Remember" about dementia) are incredibly touching. But his rockers ("Bad Kidney and a Broken Heart") rock out with the best of them. He has a tight band but he is the clear star. He comes across as quite laid back, but he obviously is very thoughtful and dedicated to his craft. Brighton Music Hall is a small club, having space for maybe 200-300 people, but only a few high top chairs at the back of the room. Sound quality and sight lines are excellent. Good selection of craft beers on tap as well as a full bar. Prices are very reasonable.

    Wonderful Show

    by Kitty4Flit on 11/3/21Birchmere - Alexandria

Hayes didn't disappoint. He and his band played lots of terrific songs--a nice mix of ones from the new album and old favorites. He's a terrific showman with lots of charm and storytelling skills.

Frick’n brought it to the table as usual

by Amyloo on 11/2/21Birchmere - Alexandria

Great acoustics, loved the drums on the side vs the back. Creative melding of songs, great energy, some tears, so perfect balance.

Hayes and Alison are great together and alone

by Could have been twice as long on 3/4/20Birchmere - Alexandria

This was a great concert with one of the best voices in music and one of the best writers of music. They were great in solo and great as a duo. The only complaint is that the concert needed to be twice as long and Hayes needs to play more of his newest album.

Great music, great sound, great venue

by L. S. on 11/26/19Austin City Limits Live at The Moody Theater - Austin

We were first timers, folks who worked there were very nice, didn't catch her name but she had long blonde hair, originally from Indiana.

    Great time!

by Wild Bill on 11/26/19Austin City Limits Live at The Moody Theater - Austin

Always wanted to go to ACL and wasn't disappointed. Hayes is one of our best Americana singer songwriters along the lines of John Prine, Guy Clark, Todd Snider etc. and he put on a crowd pleasing, energetic show. His band was really good and complements his songs well. I fell in love with his bass player but that was wishful thinking..

    Hayes Carll at Ponte Vedra

by BAT on 6/29/19Ponte Vedra Concert Hall - Ponte Vedra Beach

One of the best live shows I have ever seen. First time to see Hayes Carll live and it was worth it. Small venue with great sound made for a fantastic show!

Hayes Caryll is little know gem

by Kbrg on 9/25/17Port City Music Hall - Portland

I've seen Hayes twice, both times were excellent. The first time was in Portsmouth and he was solo for most of the performance. But this time it was a whole new level with the lead guitarist and drummer. The place was rocking and everyone was bought into the show. Hayes is well known in Texas and drawing more interest in the Northeast. One of our favorites to listen to around the firepit with friends.

    Memorable.

by Malmanac on 9/24/17Port City Music Hall - Portland

Great show! Mr. Carll has pulled together a tight trio. The guitarist and drummer know that folks have come to see the headliner, but they show that they can play! I often head out of shows early, but these guys held me until the end... My one criticism: Why such a long delay between the opener (and kudos to Curtis McMurtry! Given his gene pool, he's got a lot to live up to, but he is extremely talented.) and main act? Mr. McMurtry had one instrument (acoustic guitar) and no band. (Trying to sell drinks, maybe?) Need to speed up the transition.

    Hayes and Alison were riveting!

    by Towanda13 on 1/2/17F. M. Kirby Center - Wilkes-Barre

The Kirby Center lobby seemed an odd venue but actually was wonderfully intimate and alive for two singer/songwriter guitarists who each played solo and then sang some songs together. Alison Moorer has a wonderful voice and high level of professionalism. I was only familiar with her most recent CD which she did a couple of songs from but I enjoyed everything she sang (about half an hour). Hayes' set (about 75 minutes) rambled around his catalogue and featured some stories leading into songs not on his CD's - as well as some explanations of stories behind other songs. He is a totally entertaining storyteller as well as musician. Both Hayes and Alison seemed honest, comfortable and genuinely likable. I did not make a set list but some of Hayes' more well known songs ("She left me for Jesus," "Another Like You," "The Magic Kid," for example) were not played. He and Alison sang a nice rendition of the Everly Brothers classic "Bye Bye Love." Overall, this was a high quality show from some very talented folks that rarely come to NE Pennsylvania. I was grateful to be there.

Solid performance and decent acoustics. Hayes interacted with the audience and cracked some jokes as well.

Hayes Carll: Another home run show

    by JLIISH on 12/31/16F. M. Kirby Center - Wilkes-Barre

The Kirby Center in WillesBarre continues to hit home runs with their lobby shows. This one featured Allison Moorer as opener with Hayes Carll as the main attraction. Both performers were stellar with their songs and Hayes is quite droll and humorous.

Hayes Carll rocked - Luke Bell stole the show!!!

by LKW1 on 7/24/16Teragram Ballroom - Los Angeles

Luke Bell opened for Hayes Carll and stole the show. Hayes Carll is truly talented, but sometimes is a bit too cliche imho, and that's why my vote goes to Luke Bell. Luke Bell has a fluid feel to his songs that aren't overworked or contrived. His voice is his own (and not trying to sound like Sturgill, Graham Parsons, Steve Earle, etc)..Gotta applaud both of them for giving us a great show and some fine music. Love the Teragram venue- great sound, showcasing some fine new and established artists...yes, standing only, but well-managed so not overcrowded...one of our new go-to places downtown!

    Great storyteller, entertaining show.

by TJR1 on 7/27/15Mercury Lounge - New York

I saw Hayes solo and he did not disappoint. One of the best lyricists out there, and funny between-song patter as well. Hope to catch with the full band next time out.
