I was near the stage in the front and this was a great show! Hasan has great energy and an awesome storyteller. He's hilarious and I'm glad I went!!
The opener was horrible. He was inaccurate, inappropriate, and insulting and entitled. I was worried. Hasan, however, was fantastic. His humor is well researched, thoughtful, and perfectly delivered. We laughed so much, and it was an amazing feeling to do that surrounding by so many other people who were laughing too. He is a special talent.
Hasan showed up and showed out. The show was amazing. I couldn't stop laughing and didn't want it to end. Thanks Hasan for coming to Vancity, all of Surrey certainly came out :D
Start to finish I was pretty much laughing throughout the entire show. There were well-timed real talk sections that added emotional depth, and made it all the more memorable. Not having access to smart devices ensured no distractions and was refreshing. If you have the chance, you gotta go!
What an incredible show. Laughs, tears, moments of brilliance, moments of heartache. An absolute masterpiece
Hasan is a master at weaving many details into a meaty, entertaining comedy set. I was incredibly impressed!!
This show was fantastic, Hasan is a great storyteller. What made his show unique was the use of multimedia to help illustrate his stories and jokes. It felt kind of like watching Patriot Act, but less political. I would definitely see him again!
Great show. Good mix of comedy and personal experiences which aundiences can relate. Fantastic job changing and captivating audiences for whole show. No phones was great like old school
Such a great show. The perfect mix of comedy and politics. He knows how to be serious and give the right twist of comedy to keep it light. Great show.
Opening act was a little dry and too serious. Would have preferred without.
beautiful venue, amazing lighting/show, great comedy, kind people.
The show was great, started on time, but my only issue was that it felt as though the handling of getting in and out could’ve been done just a tad better. Having to check vacs cards, tickets, and lock up your phone wasn’t that smooth. (not bad, just not smooth) and on the way out it felt like there were less ppl to unlock the pouches than there were to check tickets and what not earlier.
Hasan's show was worth every dollar, but the location of the show was an issue. Other events happening around the venue caused 30 minute delays to get to the show, and the event management was slow at let in attendees.
We had an amazing night at Hassan Minhaj's "King's Jester" comedy show at McCaw Hall yesterday! The show was quintessential Minhaj - fabulously funny and dripping with acerbic wit, dark humor and poignant takeaways. I love how he's both grandiose and down-to-earth, wickedly egoistic and self deprecating, hilarious and thought provoking. He seamlessly blends in the mundane details of his life with the most important, urgent and pressing issues of our time. He picks on 'Shannon' in the audience with the same brilliance that he reserves for evil dictators and their corporate henchmen. In short, he's inspiring, and he's awesome. And even though I'm just another 'like' on his insanely long list of admirers, I'm a very sincere one. Thank you Hassan Minhaj, for a great, great show!
One of the best shows we saw in a long time. Hasan’s storytelling along with visuals were just too good. He is an intelligent comedian and weaves current social/political issues beautifully in his acts. It makes you think, reflect and laugh. Truly a king jester!
Went in with no expectations. Had seen live once and been watching patriot act. A mixture that ended up being hilarious. Opening act was awesome as well. Thanks for all the laughs, really needed them.
Hassan has great content with some minor trips to jokes focused too much in the Indian community. The opening act in Seattle was horrible: some guy making statements against all religions that even I, being atheist, found not funny at all, and you could clearly notice the discomfort of part of the audience. Finally: the phoneless approach (putting a bag around phones) caused issues before and after the show and needs better training for all involved.
Has the best time watching Hasan Minhaj! He’s so funny, and I love everything he stands for. This was my first event since Covid started, and it was nice to be around people, and know people were masked, vaccinated, and/or tested.
Show started over 1.5hrs late with no mention of why or an apology; had to wait outside for over an hour after the show was supposed to start. They started the opener before folks were in seats. Super poorly organized. Most folks were getting up and leaving before he was even halfway through his set as it got so late (they likely had to be home or had a long drive).
The show was amazing. The part prior to the show was terrible. The venue was not organized at all. When we arrived there was no staff to give guidance. There was a line around the block across a bridge and another two blocks long with no one telling anyone where to go. The show was supposed to start at 930 and was over an hour late. The venue needs to have staff directing the line and giving updates . Will never go to that venue again.
