The Memphis Symphony Orchestra was wonderful! What a great experience to watch the original Harry Potter move and listen to the musical score being played live!

I am such a big fan of these performances! It was great to re-watch the Sorcerer's Stone on the big screen, and having the Symphony on hand made it even more magical. I would love to see the entire series this way.

  • Harry Potter was INCREDIBLE!!!

by CWilladsen84 on 10/9/18The Orpheum Theatre Memphis - MemphisRating: 5 out of 5

My husband and I attended Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in Concert October 6, 2018 and it was absolutely amazing! This was his first time attending anything at the Orpheum and everything was more than he had expected. The show was incredible. The Memphis Symphony Orchestra performed so well that, as we watched the film, we completely forgot that they were even there, and they were playing the entire score for the movie directly below the screen! It was an absolutely flawless performance from my perspective and I fervently hope that they continue the rest of the Harry Potter series. Hearing the opening chords for Hedwig's Theme just brought chills over me. All in all, it was beyond my expectations and I would wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone!

  • Awesome show, uncomfortable venue

by M00se6969 on 10/9/18The Orpheum Theatre Memphis - MemphisRating: 1 out of 5

The event itself was excellent!! I loved seeing and hearing the orchestra play during the movie, and the audience interactions made it a million times more entertaining! The venue however, was cramped, hot, and extremely uncomfortable seating. We left early.

Harry Potter in Concert was fantastic! I am looking forward to going next year when Chamber of Secrets is showing!

  • Magical Afternoon

by Valleygoat on 5/18/18E.J. Thomas Hall - The University of Akron - AkronRating: 4 out of 5

While the venue wasn't a hundred percent what I was expecting, it definitely was a great way to spend the afternoon. I took my mom to it as she enjoyed it even though she isn't a big fan of Harry Potter or orchestra music. There were times when I wished that I could just hear the music instead of the movie, but the two together really added another layer to the whole thing. It wasn't until this that I realized how often the music gets over looked in a movie. Long lines to the bathroom and food stands were a downer. I purchased seats a few rows back from the stage because I was expecting a larger distance between us a the screen. Mom and I both got a sore neck from looking up at the screen and after a while I wished I had a better angle to watch more than the string sections of the orchestra. Overall though, the whole thing was magical and I look forward to doing it again. It warmed the love that I have for Harry Potter. It's almost like experiencing it for the first time all over again. A fun excuse to dress up in my HP gear/costume.

  • Harry Potter Concert Series

by Barphill on 5/12/18Chrysler Hall - NorfolkRating: 5 out of 5

Awesome experience! From the symphony to audience's interaction with the film! Also want to praise everyone working the event at Chrysler Hall for being so polite and helpful!

  • Magical Symphony Experience

by MrsMamaP on 5/8/18Chrysler Hall - NorfolkRating: 4 out of 5

My husband and I attended this event for my birthday. I am a huge HP fan and couldn't miss the opportunity to watch the film with a live orchestra. I loved it! The conductor encouraged the audience to participate while watching the film, so there were many cheers and hisses as our favorite characters or foes came on screen. I often had to remind myself to watch the orchestra instead of the film, since that was what I had come for. My husband found it distracting and ended up just watching the film the whole time which was kind of beside the point of going to the symphony. I recommend this event with the caveat that you should pay attention to the orchestra if you don't want to just feel like you've paid $$ to watch an old HP film.

  • Excellent!

by Jossu on 5/8/18Chrysler Hall - NorfolkRating: 5 out of 5

This was a great venue. We took our 7 and 9 year old children and they loved it. The orchestra played perfectly! You really couldn't even tell that music was not part of the movie but was played live. Excellent job!

  • My son and I LOVED the Harry Potter show!!

    by KKKarinthian33 on 5/8/18Chrysler Hall - NorfolkRating: 5 out of 5

I totally surprised my son with tickets to the show! He had no idea until we actually got in Chrysler Hall that this is what we were here to see! We had tried to get tickets the first time around and were unsuccessful! So this time around I was able to get them and surprise him! Very cool to listen to the orchestra as the movie was playing on the big screen! Will definitely go back to see more in the future!

  • Excellent performance

by HPfandom on 5/8/18Chrysler Hall - NorfolkRating: 4 out of 5

The Virginia Symphony playing the score for the Harry Potter films is fantastic. It's neat to hear all the individual instruments and melodies that you don't normally notice when just watching a film.

  • HARRY POTTER

  • Outstanding

Fabulous orchestra. Really enjoyed the movie this way. Chrysler hall needs an update. Seats are narrow like an old High School auditorium.
