This Harry Potter event, with the orchestra, did not disappoint! The orchestra performance that supplemented the film was superb. The audience was encouraged to cheer on their favorite Hogwart houses! Cannot wait forthe next one!
I cannot tell you how great if a show this was. Often times i forgot all together the orchestra was playing while wathching the movie. Thier timing was amazing
I’m a huge Harry Potter fan; I’ve read all the books, I’ve seen all the movies probably thousands of times, so I will know if something is off. All I have to say is that it was phenomenal. They outdid theirselves, exceeded all expectations that I had. I plan on coming to future Harry Potter concerts.
If you are not just big fans of the Potter books and films, but of the movie scores as well, this event is definitely for you!!! The orchestra was phenomenal, and the conductor encouraged audience participation. Great fun!
We thought this would be pretty good when we heard about it. We were wrong. It was great. The live music performed by the Virginia Symphony Orchestra took things to a whole new level. We're looking forward to the rest of the movies in the series. Well worth the price of admission.
The orchestra did absolutely amazing and were only slightly off one time in the whole thing!!! They blended in flawlessly with the movie!!! I am a huge fan of the Harry Potter series and have seen each movie at least ten times each, however this made the movie like a whole new exciting experience. To those saying that it was to loud, to distracting, or to expensive were worrying about all the wrong things. Loosen up people!!! You never missed a moment and it was perfectly loud enough for me and my sister. It was one of the best performances I've ever been to. The concessions were pretty expensive so I recommend eating in advanced and packing snacks for little ones. When you're there take time to look away from the movie and take a look at the orchestra.

We attended this event this past weekend. My husband I went with our six-year-old daughter. The orchestra gave a great performance and watching the movie with other avid Harry Potter fans made the experience a lot of fun. It was an interactive performance. The audience was encouraged to cheer along when their favorite moments occurred in the film. Our six-year-old who had never seen the movie really enjoyed herself. We will definitely attend another event like this again!
Movie and concert was a little pricey, bit was a great performance.
my girlfriend is a huge fan, this couldn't have gone any better for her. crowd was a mix of die hards/casual fans, it was fun to hear reactions as the movie played. still amazed at how well the orchestra played to the film.
Love it !! Being with a bunch of other Harry Potter fans was wonderful ! The orchestra was great and in sync with the movie to a tee !
The orchestra was fantastic! We were so amazed at how seamlessly they blended with the movie. Sometimes, I had to remind myself it was a live orchestra because they were so well balanced and so very good. The venue had parking that was cash only. The concessions were cash only. The smart guy selling merchandise was with it and had a card reader though. Not what I would generally expect when going to this type of show. The lines for concessions were also extremely long and getting through a line during the short intermission was impossible. The crowd really irritated me. They cheered and jeered when characters came on screen throughout the movie like it was a campy re-release of a cult classic. They obviously couldn't care less about the orchestra. Half of the crowd left as soon as the credits started to roll despite the orchestra playing throughout them. Extremely rude and really missing the point. This wasn't some $10 movie, it was an orchestra performance that people paid better than $70 to see!
I expected a few key pieces played, but the event instead involved every theme from the film was played in synchronization with the film. It was absolutely beautiful. The conductor encouraged cheering and clapping, which livened the room and brought some community to the audience. It was a wonderful experience.
Totally enjoyed it all!!! Love the Harry Potter movies. The orchestra was AMAZING playing the entire movie and the credits to the very end! At times you would forget they were there playing. May come back to see the April 12th performance of Chamber of Secrets!
They preformed to the movie with perfect and clarity. Can't wait til April for the next one!
First of all, you can never go wrong watching a Harry Potter movie. To have the Akron Symphony Orchestra play the score of the movie while it played was priceless. The Symphony is an Akron treasure that is under-appreciated. Any time you get a chance to hear them perform, run to get tickets. You won't be disappointed. My family and I absolutely love EJ Thomas hall. Also a wonderful Akron treasure. There isnt a bad seat in the house. I just wish more people understood theatre etiquette. Very chatty mom and her teenaged daughters behind us. Honestly folks, if you have that much to talk about, go sit in a Starbucks somewhere and let the folks around you enjoy the show. Concert tickets are pricey....
As a fan of J.K. Rowling's Wizarding World, I knew that watching "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" with a live orchestral accompaniment would be enjoyable. However, I was blown away by the event which exceeded my expectations. The Akron Symphony did a superb job with the gorgeous John Williams score and the venue was packed with people who obviously enjoyed themselves. Can't wait for the next one!
