About

HARRY CONNICK, JR.

Harry Connick, Jr.’s career has exemplified excellence across multiple platforms in the entertainment world over the past three decades. He has received Grammy and Emmy awards as well as Tony nominations for his live and recorded musical performances, his achievements in film and television and his appearances on Broadway as both an actor and a composer. Connick continues to establish himself as a best-selling musician, singer, composer, and a legendary live performer with millions of recordings sold around the world.

The foundation of Connick’s art is the music of his native New Orleans, where he began performing as a pianist and vocalist at the age of five.  Highlights of his music career include several multi-platinum recordings such as “When Harry Met Sally,” “Blue Light, Red Light (Someone’s There)”, “When My Heart Finds Christmas,” “Come By Me, and “Only You.”  His debut album on legendary Verve Records, his new label home, titled True Love: A Celebration of Cole Porter was released in 2019 and which coincided with performances on Broadway at the Nederlander Theatre in a show he wrote and directed:  Harry Connick, Jr.- A Celebration of Cole Porter honoring the musical achievements of one of America’s most respected songwriters, Cole Porter.  In 2020 as the country entered the pandemic lockdown, he retreated to his home studio and emerged with an album of songs of faith and inspiration.  ALONE WITH MY FAITH, released during the spring of 2021 displays the sheer breadth of Connick’s talents as he wrote new songs, arranged all songs, played every instrument, and sang every voice.

Connick has appeared in 20 feature films with actors such as Sandra Bullock, Hilary Swank, Renée Zellweger, Sigourney Weaver, and Morgan Freeman.  His work on television includes starring roles on Will and Grace, South Pacific and American Idol.  He recently hosted the CBS Special UNITED WE SING: A GRAMMY® TRIBUTE TO THE UNSUNG HEROES, honoring essential workers in the pandemic.  In 2016, he launched Harry, a national daytime television show, which earned 11 Daytime Emmy nominations, including nominations for best host, and a Critics’ Choice nomination for best talk show.  On Broadway, Connick received Tony nominations as both a lead actor in The Pajama Game and as a composer/lyricist for Thou Shalt Not.

Despite his busy career, Connick has always found the time to be charitable and has done some of his most important work in his efforts to help New Orleans after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. He, along with friend Branford Marsalis, conceived of “Musicians’ Village,” and its centerpiece the Ellis Marsalis Center.  Musicians’ Village provides homes for Katrina-displaced musicians while the Center uses music as its focal point of a holistic strategy to deliver a broad range of services to underserved children, youth and musicians from neighborhoods battling poverty and social injustice.

Connick’s honors, including a star on the celebrated Hollywood Walk of Fame as part of the 2019 class of Honorees, induction into the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame, Honorary Doctorates from Tulane and Loyola Universities and the Jefferson Award for Public Service, have not led Harry Connick, Jr. to slow his creative pace; they only confirm his determination to apply his talents in ways that prove inspirational to other artists and publicly spirited citizens.

    Decent show but ...

by DallasGypsy on 2/14/10King Center for the Performing Arts - Melbourne

I was expecting much more singing. Don't get me wrong, Harry is a great entertainer and his patter, at times, was amusing. For my taste, though, there was too much patter and not enough vocals. The show was more like a nightclub act that would play better in a smaller venue.

    Concert was great

by JimAndLaura on 2/14/10King Center for the Performing Arts - Melbourne

My wife and I went there. Sat in row QQ and it was a great concert. Afterwards we met his trombone player that he brings out half way thru the concert. Very nice person. Afterwards we waited by the tour buses with another 6 people. He came out after he did his own meet/greet w/ 20-30 other people and signed the 7 autographs and shook our hands. This is our 2nd concert (of seeing him 3 times) that we've stayed after and have met him. He's a very personable and makes time for his fans which is highly appreciative.

    Amazing as always!

by Ebaker1 on 2/13/10Ruth Eckerd Hall - Clearwater

This is the fourth time I have seen Harry, and he never dissappoints. I usually see him in Durham, NC, but recently moved to Florida. Ruth Eckerd Hall was equally nice. BUT - the Saints just won (who dat?), and he didn't play "When the Saints Come Marching In!" Come on Harry!

Harry Connick Jr is quite the entertainer!

by JIO1 on 2/13/10Ruth Eckerd Hall - Clearwater

Got more than expected. The music was great. Felt like I was watching the making of a movie soundtrack. Just don't get to hear those types of instruments everday. Harry Connick Jr sounds equally as amazing live as on CD. And the comedy kept things light. Overall an incredible show.

Bottom line.....WOW! Harry was so entertaining in all ways...his music, his humor, his storytellng charms, his passion made for a wonderful experience! Best live performance hands down! Sings better in person which is hard for an artist to say. I would see him a thousand times and still not tire of his charm. He has a love of music that shines bright! He was AMAZING....if you get a chance see him live DO IT!

    Harry sets the mood

by MrCoffee on 1/28/10Arlington Theater - Santa Barbara

It's all coming back to me. When he opened with Won't you come home, Bill Bailey and continued with The way you look tonight, I knew we were in for a great show. He really shined and showed his piano skills on The Sunny side of the street. Harry connected with us and took us on a magical journey through the classics and the dark, juicy, beautiful sounds of New Orleans jazz. Looking forward to the next time he comes around.

    Connick is a great talent

by Mondolulu on 1/28/10Arlington Theatre - Santa Barbara

Connick's show was really wonderful. He is so talented and versatile. He can really play that piano like nobody's business! He also sings beautifully and he can actually dance a bit too...that was fun to see. Loved the show. He played for 2 hours, no break, no opening act. He mixed lively songs with slow ballads. Oh, and let me also say that he has some really talented musicians with him. It was a top quality concert. The only thing I noticed was that the venue...Arlington Theatre in Santa Barbara...has weird acoustics. That needs to be fixed.

    Harry Connick, Jr.

by Proctor on 1/27/10Arlington Theatre - Santa Barbara

Concert was great - audience was rude. Event was held at the Arlington Theater in Santa Barbara, CA. Ticket holders came in when Harry Connick was well into his 3rd, 4th and even 5th number. Caused great disruption to people who wanted to hear Connick sing. He kept us entertained with a mix of ballads and New Orleans music. He was relaxed and interfaced with the audience on occasion. Loved all the music. I would definitely reccomend seeing his concert (at a different venue)!!

Harry Connick, Jr.--I'll follow him anywhere !

by merrywidow on 1/27/10Arlington Theatre - Santa Barbara

I knew the concert would be very good given his voice and charisma but I got so much more and am a huge fan now. He engages the audience with his New Orleans charm and personality while bantering with the audience. He is a delight ! He is amazing while singing beautiful ballads but comes alive with New Orleans jazz. He can liven up a room like no one of his generation. I was charmed by his interactions with his band and because it was obvious he truly loves what he does. HE CAN DANCE....wow! He strutted New Orleans style and brought down the house! I'm looking forward to his next concert. If you haven't had the pleasure to see him perform.....GO and you'll be a fan forever !
