Happy Together Tour in Concert

When the Happy Together Tour rolls into town, a beautiful kind of magic trick occurs. For just a little while, the cares of the current world seem somehow to melt away as the sound of a free, colorful era long gone rises up in the air once more. It gives us all a glimpse of what it was like to live in that golden moment of the 1960s, when the glorious vocal harmonies of The Turtles and their contemporaries came bursting out of just about every radio and jukebox in America.

When Turtles frontmen Flo & Eddie — and the rest of their '60s pop/rock compatriots on the bill — step up to the microphone, the years melt away as the hits of the Aquarian Age come back around. It's enough to make even the most jaded listener believe in the possibilities of flower power again, for at least as long as the concert lasts.

Happy Together Tour Background

Few bands embody the spirit of classic '60s pop like The Turtles, fronted by the legendary Flo & Eddie, aka Mark Volman and Howard Kaylan. A quintessential exponent of the summery-sounding, harmony-heavy "sunshine pop" coming out of the West Coast in the mid-to-late '60s, The Turtles stamped their name on pop/rock history forevermore with indelible hits like "She'd Rather Be With Me," "You Showed Me," "Elenore," and, of course, the immortal "Happy Together."

In 1984, Flo & Eddie mounted the first Happy Together tour, bringing the sounds of the '60s to a new era on a bill with The Association and other like-minded peers. Over the years, a lofty list of '60s heroes have joined The Turtles on the tour, including The Cowsills, The Buckinghams, Gary Puckett & The Union Gap, Chuck Negron of Three Dog Night, and The Classics IV, giving contemporary audiences a taste of that old-school magic.

Happy at Happy Together Tour at Genesee

    by Petie on 8/21/23

The singers and songs were GREAT! Loved all six acts, especially Little Anthony. However, the music was too loud, especially the drum and bass. This was our third time attending a Happy Together Tour and music was not too loud in the past. Hopefully it will not be too loud next year.

    Happy Together 2023

    by Rollo on 8/21/23

Was nice, would have been nice to have known that the lead singer for the Turtles was not performing but otherwise a good time!

    Oldies Show

    by Spanky on 8/21/23

I go to see this show twice a year and it never fails to disappoint. My fear is that with their ages this show may not go too many more years. If you love the music of the late 60s this is a must see

    High School

This concert was like being back in high school for my husband & me! Nostalgia time! Couldn't have been happier with the theater & the singers!

    Excellent and Nostalgic!

    by Terese on 8/21/23

Talk about how quickly the years melted away! I love 60's music and the Happy Together Tour brought a rush of memories back to me! How lucky to have witnessed and lived through the music of that time. Loved the love the audience had for Little Anthony❤️ how I wish we could go back in time. We were almost there.

A wonderful trip down memory lane.

    by Sonny on 8/21/23

The groups sounded good and the hits just kept on coming. I was amazed at Little Anthony and his wonderful showmanship, as well as his singing. The only concern I had was with the venue, since may of the concertgoers were in the 70+ age with mobility issues. However, the staff and other concertgoers were very helpful and I made it to my seat and out of the venue safely.

    Meh…… it’s been better

    by Doc on 8/21/23

We’ve been to see this pop review a few times. Sadly, many of the 60’s people are sick or have passed on. I’m not sure if we’d attend this same show again. The Cowsills and the Classics IV, were the most entertaining

    Back to the 60's

    by Trophy on 8/21/23

It's was great to hear and see the singers/groups we grew up with in our teens and twenties. The Vogues and Cowsills sounded just like they did in the 60's. Great to see Little Anthony and Dennis Yost with the saxophonist absolutely fantastic. Always enjoy Turtles and Gary Puckett.. I have 45's, LP's and CD's of all of them. Only one suggestion. At certain points Gary Puckett delayed the lyrics to some of the music (the audience sang along with many of the songs). Just as with his recording, prefer that the lyrics co-incide with the music.

A blast from the past and so much fun

    by Joe on 8/21/23

As good as it gets, just a step back in time and to hear such good music at our favorite venue.

Just ok. Previous shows have been better

    by mlp on 8/21/23

I've been to 3 of these and this was the least fun. Let me start by saying The Vogues were FABULOUS. They sounded like they did decades ago. Although I'm not a fan, the Cowsills were good as were the Classics IV (2 left in the group!). Little Anthony tried his best at 82, and I give him props for that. Gary Puckett (without the advertised Union Gap) needs to pack it in. Sadly, he has absolutely no voice left. The Turtles were just okay. The lead singer was good but they were nothing special, and they were the headliners.

    Great concert

    by Ike on 8/21/23

Really nice to see so many bands at one show. Each one did not play that long, so they played their greatest hits only. They all sounded good, even at their age. Would see it again.

    Happy Together always!

    by bboomer50 on 8/21/23

This was one of the best concerts I have attended. The performers did their BEST and the audience was all too eager to join in. It was wonderful being transported back to high school days when you had adolescent like problems to get you ready for adulthood. Each group had a song(s) where I could remember exactly where I was at the time. What a wonderful trip down memory lane!

    My heart was full

    by dottyp on 8/21/23

I always watched the PBS series when they had music from my teens. When I saw this event was coming to a city near me I jumped at the chance to buy tickets! The music was wonderful!! The bands took me back to prom, homecoming and listening to these GREAT performers on the radio. 50 plus years later they all sounded sooooo good. You are in a happy place from the moment the first band steps on the stage. If you have the chance to go experience this event GO!!! you won't be disappointed! One of the best things we did all year!

    Great trip down memory lane

    by BW on 8/21/23

Really great time at a very nice venue re-experiencing the soundtrack of my childhood. The enthusiasm of the groups who performed made the evening really special.

    Lots of fun

    by Gazzoo on 8/21/23

The 4 musicians backing up the headliners must tour with the tour, as they knew what to do and when to do it. It also saved a lot of time, not having to change equipment etc between artists. It was great to hear/see all 6 headliners. The Vogues were the most in tune. Best song performance goes to The Cowsills with Hair. sounded just like the record. The one or two stories told.....ie Gary Puckett and their first hit....were quite enjoyable as well. A fine time was had by all of us in our group!

This is my second time seeing the show. It gets better every time. Absolutely loved every artist. Back up band was incredible. Godfrey Townsend does a superb Jon pulling it all together!

    Great Concert!

    by Anna R. on 8/21/23

The concert was great. Lasted 2 1/2 hours, sound system was excellent not to loud or soft. Had a difficult time down loading my tickets to my phone. Finally got help and they were able to do it. I prefer old way with actual ticket.
