About

Hannah Gadsby has been a comedian for more than a decade but it was 2018 when the world took notice when their ground breaking comedy special launched on Netflix and stopped the comedy world in its tracks.

Nanette earned Hannah an Emmy, a Peabody, an Australian Academy Award, and the Most Outstanding Show awards at both the Melbourne Comedy Festival and Edinburgh Fringe. Since then, Hannah did two more solo stand-up comedy shows which toured the world - selling out houses across the USA, Australia and Europe, including the Sydney Opera House, the Royal Festival Hall, the Kennedy Centre, the London Palladium and the Opera House at BAM.

Hannah's second Netflix special, Douglas launched in 2020, and their third, Something Special landed on Netflix May 2023. Douglas was nominated for an Emmy and won an Australian Academy Award as did Something Special.

In 2022, they also managed to publish their New York Times Best Selling memoir, Ten Steps To Nanette in more than ten languages, chatted with the likes of Colbert and Fallon and hosted a gala at the Montreal Just For Laughs comedy festival.

Hannah also co-curated an exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum, taking part in the global celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of Picasso's death featuring works from the Musée Picasso in Paris alongside those from the Brooklyn Museum's Feminist Art Collection.

Hannah's fourth special with Netflix was recorded in 2023 and launched in 2024, recorded in London, the Gender Agenda bought together gender queer comedians from around the world.

    Very well done!

    by K. N. on 6/28/22Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

Many hearty belly laughs - which were so needed as a means of self care among our current environment. She brilliantly tied together the pieces of her show, all of which were funny on their own, but the culmination was simply *chef's kiss*! 10/10!

    Stupid entry process

by Susie on 6/28/22Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

waited in line for more than 30 minutes to get in even though we arrived early for a show that was supposed to start at 7. left our phones at home per the email me received from Fox/Ticketmaster and were still forced to go through this absurd process. no more comedy shows at the Fox for us. took so much out of the experience. HG was funny but also bagged on the US too much, our Oakland bubble is all too aware of the nonsense in our country.

    Friggin' Brilliant

by SP on 6/25/22Palace of Fine Arts - San Francisco

The woman is a genius. For this one, it goes meandering in what appear to be random directions and one is a bit puzzled all along as to where this is all going, and with the last phrase all the various seemingly unrelated tangents coalesce into a coherent whole and it is just so friggin' beautiful to see that level of craft and brilliance. Masterful. And, of course, hilarious throughout. What a treat!!!

hits like a brain punch, in a good way

    by K. G. on 6/20/22Moore Theatre - Seattle

Hannah is genuinely a knock-out - informal chat - that's what it seems like when i watch her - as if only between us. Excellent observations, carefully built and delivered, and then so often ends with a cognitive punch that speaks to a current event or social observation. LOVE her.

    uncomfortable

by ITried on 6/17/22Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver

the venue ruined it for me, I left before the end. I balcony seats were cheaper, knowing what i do now, i think they should be free, even the 6ft tall person in front of me kept on twisting her neck to see the stage, which in turn made me change side, i guess the the domino effect to have people behind me switch as well. Worth noting that my neighbours and I has to keep on the edge of our seat, just for the perspective, as the sound was muffled with the noise coming from beneath. Loved how they made us keep our phones in these sleeves, seeing people running out because they couldnt stop the ringing themselves. The day the comedy was in the balcony, not sure what happened on stage.

    Vancouver 2022

by Lance Munro on 6/17/22Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver

Despite a late start, Hannah gave the fan audience a DVD-worthy evening. After a minor technical glitch, everything came together in a very tight and excellently structured set. The energy in the hall kept building all the way to the end.

Great Show - Phone Policy an issue

by On Call Fan on 6/16/22Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver

I nearly had to walk away from the show. My job requires me to be on call at all times. I normally leave my phone on vibrate, and then if it vibrates quietly check to see if it’s an emergency. I don’t object to the phone seal policy, although it would have been good for there to be more staff available to open the phone bags at the end of the show. I do object to the policy not being advertised in advance. Had we known about the policy, we could have have arranged for someone to cover for me or made different purchase decisions. I can a long way for the show, and decided to risk having to leave, find someone to unlock the bag, etc. It stressed me out the whole show. The show itself was excellent, and this would have been a five star review if I was able to properly enjoy the show. I don’t know if the decision was the performer’s or the theatres, but either way it should be posted prominently when purchasing tickets and on the tickets themselves.

    Just the best

by Mads on 6/16/22Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver

Hannah was just unreal good. I laughed and cried and felt all the feels. She is so incredibly relatable, I didn’t have a voice left for all my cheers and laughter.

    Great performance, crappy venue

by Jennifer Snowgoat on 6/14/22Moore Theatre - Seattle

Hannah Gadsby was amazing. She put on a truly excellent show. Unfortunately, the Moore Theatre was. terrible. Their metal detector process at the door delayed entry so badly that the show started nearly an hour late. Even then, people were still filtering in and trying to find their seats in the dark. On top of that, the seat numbering is very confusing (at least in the balcony), and so a bunch of latecomers found other people already in their seats, which led to yet more people milling around trying to find the right seats while the show was going on. I struggled to see and hear most of the beginning of the show. Then, at the end of the night when we were all trying to leave, the staff kept snapping at us, even yelling at us. Lots of people were confused about how to get their cell phone pouches opened up again, and the staff responding with impatience and even anger was really unpleasant. In short: I'd love to go see Hannah Gadsby perform again, but I don't ever want to go back to the Moore.

    Amazing performer, awful venue

by Birch on 6/14/22Moore Theatre - Seattle

Hannah Gadsby was great. Her set was hilarious and I had a really good time. The theater though was horrid. I am five foot four and the seats were so close together that I still have bruises on my shins and knees days later from the seat in front of me.

    Just keeps getting better

by gomihead on 6/14/22Moore Theatre - Seattle

Her story telling is off the charts. The more we thought about how she created and layered the details through the show, the deeper and more connected it all was. Funny, acerbic, deeply moving. We’ve seen her last three shows (Nanette, Douglas, and now Body of Work), two of them live, and it’s clear she’s at the top of her game.

Hannah is a goddess amongst us

by Jordyn on 6/14/22Moore Theatre - Seattle

Hannah Gadsby was someone I never thought I could see live but I was so insanely lucky to snag some tickets and it was the best time I've ever had in my life. She is so real and honest and just genuinely funny. You can tell she has come more into herself over the years and she seems so happy and comfortable on stage now. *I will say that Ticketmaster was not the best way to purchase these tickets, lots of hidden policies and things that lost my gf and I some money

    Much needed experience!!

by Erin on 5/9/22Atlanta Symphony Hall - Atlanta

From the opening to the close of the performance, I was laughing. Hannah Gadsby communicates stories and expeirences naturally and effortlessly. Tragedy and comedy woven together in this performance in a clearly meaningful way. Hanha Gadsby gives herself permission to feel that offers the audiencepermission to experience a full spectrum of all emotions in 1.5 hours. The good the bad the ugly in each story is tactfully woven for an inriching and gut -wrenchingly hilarious experience.

    Laughed the Entire Time

by Dan and Mo on 5/8/22Lillian S. Wells Hall at The Parker - Ft Lauderdale

Hannah Gadsby gives Florida a piece of her mind and it was hilarious! She also had a lot of funny things to say about herself and we all could not stop laughing.
