    Disastrous performance of Hair

by Anonymous on 4/11/14Orpheum Theatre Sioux City - Sioux City

Was ready to leave at intermission but kept hoping it would get better. Wish I would have left. The talent of the cast left much to be desired. Worst musical I've ever seen.

    Disappointing

by MarkJH on 4/9/14Bismarck Civic Center - Bismarck

Hair was in a word, disappointing. A few of the musical pieces were well done, but many were not. Gratuitous humping and cast working the audience for laughs detracted from the production.

Hair -- Local Productions are Better

by krten1966 on 4/9/14Bismarck Civic Center - Bismarck

The local performing arts groups have much more talent and enthusiasm for their productions, at a far greater value.

    Not what I expected

by SpiderSue on 4/9/14Bismarck Civic Center - Bismarck

This show was disappointing. The music was not great like I expected and the sound system was less than adequate.

    this current production of HAIR!

by AENB on 3/30/14Rabobank Theater and Convention Center - Bakersfield

I remember the original production of HAIR in the sixties, along with the original recording of songs -- which we played a lot, at that time. This HAIR of 2014 was disappointing for me. I loved the opening number of "Aquarius"; then it went downhill from there -- with unfamiliar different songs, silly 'jokes', and a so-called story that was boring. The singing and dancing was good, but the material was unsatisfactory. We left at intermission!

Hair is a very good musical. Unfortunately this production was terrible. There were many sound cues that were missed so frequently someone was talking without a mic on. Multiple times the light cues were missed or not timed correctly with the action. The girl playing the trumpet on stage sounds like a 6th grader who has played trumpet for all of a month. There were many choices that the director made that really were not good - lighting was dark, scenery was nondescript, actors played characters as gay when they weren't. Overall, I would not recommend this production even to the enthusiast of the music. This just was not good musical theater.

    Terrible

by rkea on 3/15/14Embassy Theatre - Fort Wayne

This was a terrible interpretation of this play. The singing was poor and the changes made to content was awful. Most of the audience left half way and had nothing good to say.

This was the worst place we ever saw. We were so disappointed. I talked to other people that attended they were disappointed too. We wanted to leave iat intermission but we're hoping that the second-half would be better, it wasn't. Wish we could've gotten her money back.

    Hair was disappointing

Guess I've seen too many versions over the past years. Thought this was the worst. However, the cast had very good voices.

    Where was the nudity?

by 70sHippies on 3/14/14Old National Events Plaza (formerly the Centre) - Evansville

It was a very good performance, but it should have been shown in it's original form...including the nudity. Whoever made the decision to show the "clean" version really blew it! If you're going to see HAIR you should expect to see nudity and if you can't handle that then you should't go!

    What in the World?

by OnceSeenNeverUnseen on 3/11/14Baton Rouge River Center Theater - Baton Rouge

What in the world was that? I've never actually left a show after the first act but I did that night. We weren't the only ones that left either. It was like a high school production. Sorry.

    Disappointing

by GregNAmy on 3/11/14Baton Rouge River Center Theater - Baton Rouge

There were technical difficulties that even though I try to be patient with - a professional company should not be encountering these issues. My seats were in the balcony - we could not hear any of the stringed instruments (guitars, bass, etc) - the drums and trumpet were fine (but when are they not). One cast members microphone went out in the middle of a song. It took the first half of the first act for the show to develop enough to get to the plot. I understand character development - but let it happen organically, don't force it. The playbill said the setting was 1962 - which makes no sense to protest Vietnam. During intermission, we saw that 20% of the already small audience left, so we decided to move down to the orchestra. Once we moved down, the volume balance between instruments and vocals was better. The entire time I felt like I was only receiving snipits of the performance - half songs not entire songs were sung.

Don't waste your money or your time!

by Fortune7 on 3/10/14Baton Rouge River Center Theater - Baton Rouge

When the opening number fails to stir me, I cringe. Things did not improve. I think the acoustics may have had something to do with it, but someone should have put the quietus on the bongos! The lyrics were an important (maybe the only) component to this play, and the bongos and the acoustics prevented me from understanding anything! Two of the singers had talent. And maybe there were others who had talent. But nothing was coming through to make me feel anything other than incredibly bored. My husband and I left at intermission, and so did a lot of other patrons.

A boring, anemic, poorly produced version of the original. A lot of the audience left at intermission ---wish we had also. Very disappointed.
