About

Hadestown On Tour

COME SEE HOW THE WORLD COULD BE.

Welcome to Hadestown, where a song can change your fate. Winner of eight 2019 Tony Awards® including Best Musical and the 2020 Grammy® Award for Best Musical Theater Album, this acclaimed new show by celebrated singer-songwriter Anais Mitchell and innovative director Rachel Chavkin (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812) is a love story for today... and always.

Hadestown intertwines two mythic tales — that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of King Hades and his wife Persephone — as it invites you on a hell-raising journey to the underworld and back. Mitchell's beguiling melodies and Chavkin's poetic imagination pit industry against nature, doubt against faith, and fear against love. Performed by a vibrant ensemble of actors, dancers and singers, Hadestownis a haunting and hopeful theatrical experience that grabs you and never lets go.

Great experience and so much emotions!

by Grispoux72 on 5/7/24Boch Center Wang Theatre - Boston

Hadestown is an amazing show, it's been my 3rd time! First in Broadway, second with the tour in Ottawa et this one for the third in Boston! The production in Broadway is so good and the comedians are just perfect for their role! The tour is also really great and each comedians know how to appropriate their role! I always cry at the end even after 3 times <3

    Hadestown moves us

by strawberryphantom on 5/6/24Boch Center Wang Theatre - Boston

Looking back at the musicals I've seen, Wicked, Phantom, Cats, Hamilton, Mamma Mia, Les Mis, If/Then, Rent, etc... they may have had moving songs/scenes, or current events helped to inform them in just the right way that they resonated, or just a good tear streaking down your face, or even an uplifting Defying Gravity moment. All of these are just moments like tears in rain; however, none of them, even Les Mis (with it's heartbreak) comes close to the emotional rollercoaster ride that Hadestown offers you throughout the entire musical. From it's fourth wall breaks, to its continued reminder that you are only watching a show, to it's moving melodies, Hadestown delivers.

    So disappointed

by Zaph on 5/1/24Boch Center Wang Theatre - Boston

Having seen other reviews on the internet, it's pretty clear that most people seem in one of two camps - either having cult-like support of the show, or like me, are left wondering why anyone thinks this is a great show. I'm not generally a musical fan, but I have really enjoyed standout shows like Chicago, Moulin Rouge, Wicked, Hamilton and the Book of Mormon. This show's songs, energy, staging, and choreography are leagues worse than any of those shows. And there were weird or off-putting things; the house band staying (and taking up room) on stage, the horrible pauses while cast members seemed to deliberately solicit applause from the audience. Lastly overall to me it seemed like a terrible mashup of metropolis and Greek mythology, and I think the concept is poor and poorly designed and executed.

Very Talented Cast - Not the Best Musical Though

by JMK on 5/1/24Boch Center Wang Theatre - Boston

The cast was wicked talented and very good. However, this was by fair not my favorite musical. I am happy I went but would not go paying to see it again. The plot isn’t the best and sometimes it is hard to understand what is going on. I came in completely “blind” as to what the musical is about and usually that is the best way to go about seeing a musical. However, that is not true with this one. Very blue music style and is not your typical musical.
